Chapter 716 A Heart-to-Heart Talk
"Do you want to marry her?"
She spoke, her eyes incredibly clear and bright.
"I never thought about marrying her," Quentin's answer was unequivocal.
"But you already have an engagement, and in everyone's eyes, you are a couple."
Quentin gently lifted her chin.
He suddenly asked, "Grace, do you think I'm out of my mind?"
"Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"
"Then why do you think I would go to such lengths, even threatening you to keep you by my side, why would I work several all-nighters just to visit you, why would I fly over immediately whenever something happens to you? Do you think I have nothing better to do?"
"That's your business, I won't speculate on your thoughts."
"What if I insist you speculate?"
Quentin's deep eyes stared at her, like a deep, ancient well, almost drawing all her attention in.
"Grace, let me make it clear to you, I just want to be with you, for this lifetime, only with you. Did you hear me?"
She lifted her eyes, looking seriously at him, "Quentin, you'd better think carefully about what you're saying. What I want is a mutual understanding and commitment, to grow old together, not some secret affair."
"I want a complete family. If you can't do that, then don't tease me."
Quentin grabbed her hand. "How do you know I can't do it?"
"The Taft family is your lifelong bond, your mother, your entire family, none of them would agree to you marrying me."
"And you? Are you ready to have the courage to go against your entire family for me?"
She paused, then continued.
"Quentin, I'm a very foolish person."
"So foolish that even if you deceive me once, as long as you give me some benefits, I will wholeheartedly believe you again, believe in the promises you make, believe in the dreams you weave."
"But you can't keep giving me hope and then letting me down just because I like you and am easy to bully."
Quentin held her tightly.
"Grace, trust me this once, okay?"
"Whether it was in the past, now, or in the future, I never thought about marrying Caroline."
"I admit, I never seriously thought about marriage before. I even thought that as long as two people are happy together, marriage isn't necessary, nor is the Taft family's approval. We could be together like a couple, maybe even more freely."
"But now I know, you want a home."
"Then I'll give you a home."
Grace stubbornly turned away, not daring to answer.
She was afraid of being disappointed again and again.
She was even more afraid of softening her heart.
But Quentin didn't force her.
"Grace, I'll give you time to think."
"You're right, maybe our future won't be smooth, there will be many setbacks and hardships, but as long as you're by my side, I'll have the courage and strength."
"I have an early flight tomorrow, I hope the next time we meet, I can get a satisfactory answer."
Grace nodded, "Okay."
After she finished her shower and came out, she found he was no longer in the room.
On Facebook, he left a message: [The hotel has a vacant room now, I'm resting there.]
[Okay.]
That night, Grace's mind was in turmoil.
She wondered if she truly dared to go through it all again, but even as she fell asleep, she couldn't figure it out.
Linda was woken up early by a strange phone call.
"Who is it, calling me at five in the morning, are you crazy..."
Before Linda could finish her sentence, Quentin's cold voice came through, "It's me."
Linda immediately turned on the light, jumping out of bed in shock.
"Mr. Taft, I didn't know it was you! Sorry!"
Quentin's tone was cold and arrogant. "You didn't know my number?"
Linda thought to herself, 'When you let Grace down before, you were already a scumbag in my heart, I hated you so much, I deleted your number long ago.'
But she didn't dare say that out loud.
Otherwise, Quentin would definitely deal with her.
Before Linda could come up with a suitable excuse, Quentin's voice came again, "Have you decided on the male lead for this show?"
"There are over a dozen candidates, all sorted out."
"Alright, bring them to me."
Linda was stunned. "Now?"
"What else?"
"Yes, Mr. Taft, I'll be there right away."
Getting up, changing clothes, and washing up, Linda quickly grabbed the documents and ran over, panting.
She didn't dare keep Quentin waiting.
Grace had said before that Quentin was a workaholic, often working through the night, but Linda didn't believe it.
Now she truly saw it.
In the dead of winter, Quentin started working at five in the morning.
It wasn't even light out yet!
Quentin was simply too extreme.
Grumbling in her mind, Linda knocked on the door.
But after knocking several times, there was no response.
Grace was sleeping soundly, completely unaware that Linda was knocking.
Until her phone rang, Linda's hand trembled, and she quickly answered.
"Not here yet? Your efficiency is very low." Quentin criticized mercilessly.
Linda innocently replied, "Mr. Taft, I'm already here, but I've knocked several times and no one opened the door."
Quentin opened the door, finding no one outside.
"Here? Where are you?" he asked coldly.
"Mr. Taft, I'm outside your and Grace's room," Linda explained earnestly.
Quentin then realized, "I'm in 808, come here now."
With that, the call ended.
Leaving Linda bewildered.
What was going on?
Wasn't Quentin with Grace?
He booked a separate room for himself?
It seemed Quentin and Grace had fought.
Climbing the stairs, Linda was worried.
Finally seeing Quentin, Linda was surprised to see him standing in front of her, tying his tie, dressed in a suit, and looking very formal.
"Mr. Taft, you're up really early."
Linda made small talk, but Quentin ignored her.
He took a long stride and sat on the sofa with his upright posture.
His voice was cold. "The documents?"
"Mr. Taft, they're all here. These candidates have been carefully selected by me. Please take a look." Linda respectfully presented them.
Quentin reviewed them very seriously.
However, after going through all the documents, his brows were still tightly furrowed.
Clearly, he hadn't found a suitable candidate.
Linda was worried and was about to ask when Quentin threw the documents on the table. "This is the result of your whole day's work yesterday?"
