Chapter 824 Holding Ruby Hostage
"None of your business."
Grace said, preparing to leave.
Ruby shouted sternly, "Someone, stop Grace! Don't let her leave."
Grace had anticipated this move. She raised her phone high, "Back off! I've already called the police. Who dares to touch me?"
Hearing this, the people who had rushed to stop her hesitated.
Grace turned her gaze to Ruby, "Mrs. Taft, still want to catch me?"
"Why not? Arrest her immediately. I'll take responsibility for anything that happens."
In an instant, a group of people swarmed towards her. Grace couldn't possibly fend them off.
So, in no time, Grace's arms were restrained.
"Tie her up!"
"Get two doctors here immediately. I want the best."
Ruby ordered coldly.
About half an hour later, Grace was held down on a bed, her limbs restrained.
Suddenly, the door opened.
Grace opened her eyes and saw Ruby entering with two doctors.
Both were wearing white coats, each carrying a medical kit, exuding a chilling aura that made Grace's heart pound.
"Ruby, are you even human? What are you going to do?" Grace shouted in terror.
Suddenly, the overhead light and a dozen smaller lights turned on one by one.
Instantly, her entire vision was filled with blinding, cold light.
This vicious woman, Ruby, was going to force an abortion on her again.
Her mind was flooded with memories.
She couldn't help but recall the time Ruby had forced abortion pills on her.
Those pills were so bitter!
So even now, whenever she thought of that scene, she couldn't help but shiver.
The rain that night was also so cold, chilling to the bone.
Grace went berserk. She sat up, frantically pushing the people around her, then jumped off the bed.
She grabbed the medical kit and opened it, throwing everything inside into disarray.
The entire room was filled with the smell of medicine.
The doctors were also frightened by her behavior and backed away in terror.
After receiving reports, Ruby rushed in.
Seeing the chaotic scene, Ruby was furious.
"What are you all standing around for?"
"Get her back on the bed and hold her down. If necessary, give her a shot. I refuse to believe I can't control her."
"Yes, Mrs. Taft."
Grace watched as the needle was prepared.
Suddenly, she became quiet.
She stood there obediently, not saying a word, her expression extremely docile.
Everyone in the room breathed a sigh of relief, thinking Grace was scared by the needle and wouldn't dare to act out again.
However, Grace's eyes were fixed on the sharp scissors in the medical kit and on Ruby's neck.
As the doctor approached with the needle, Grace suddenly reached out and grabbed it.
With a forceful press, the medication in the syringe was injected into the doctor's body.
Then, with a swift turn, she grabbed the scissors from the medical kit.
The sharp blade was precisely placed against Ruby's neck.
"Everyone, back off!"
Grace held the scissors in one hand, her gaze coldly sweeping over everyone in the room.
Having weathered many storms in the business world, Ruby remained unusually calm in this situation.
"Grace, I advise you to let me go. There are cameras everywhere here. Do you think you can get away with this?"
"Or, even if I let you go today, once I post this footage online and file a lawsuit, your career will be over."
"But if you agree to my terms, not only will you not ruin yourself, but you'll also become famous and your career will flourish. Why can't you see such a simple truth?"
Grace sneered, "Ruby, you think you're so smart, don't you? But do you know what I care about the most?"
Grace cared about her career.
But what she cared about the most was the baby in her womb.
Nothing in the world could compare to that. No matter what was offered in exchange, she would never agree.
"Ruby, listen carefully. Tell them to let me go! Otherwise, I don't mind going down with you."
"Grace, even if you leave here today, I won't..."
"Shut up!" Grace shouted.
Her hand trembled uncontrollably.
Whenever she thought of the past, of what Ruby had done to her and her baby, she was filled with rage.
With a forceful grip, blood appeared on Ruby's neck.
At that moment, the butler's voice came to Ruby's ear, "Mrs. Taft, hold on a bit longer. Mr. Taft is back and will be here soon."
Hearing this, Ruby's lips curled into a smug smile.
"Grace, don't you love Quentin? I'm his mother. Do you want to guess what he'll think of you when he sees you holding a pair of scissors to my neck?"
"Or, let's see who he values more: you, his ex-girlfriend, or me, his mother? Don't say I didn't warn you. Despite the rifts and issues between Quentin and me..."
"But I'm his mother. The bond between us, the blood ties, these things can't be severed."
"Are you sure you want to gamble?"
Grace gave a bitter smile.
In fact, Ruby didn't need to repeat it. Grace knew it all. She suddenly recalled the past.
She had asked Quentin, "You still love Mrs. Taft very much, don't you?"
How did Quentin respond then?
He said, "She carried me for nine months and raised me. In that regard, I owe her forever and can never repay that debt."
Grace had also asked him if, one day, he had to choose between Grace and Ruby, who would he choose?
But his actions showed that no matter what Ruby did, in Quentin's heart, Ruby would always be his mother!
And Grace? She was just an ex-girlfriend.
So Grace knew she had no chance.
She wouldn't win!
From the moment he unwaveringly chose Caroline, Grace's place in his heart was clear.
So this time, she didn't dare to hope for anything.
But even so, she was determined to protect what she believed was important.
"Grace, Quentin will be here any moment. You don't have time to think." Ruby warned in her ear.
"I never planned to think."
With the sound of hurried footsteps, Quentin's cold, familiar face appeared.
