Chapter 627 Gentle Indulgence

Quentin looked at her puzzled, "What do you mean?"

"When will you be short a bed? The hospital beds are single, only enough for one person," she explained.

Quentin reacted quickly, "Grace, am I crowding you?"

Grace remained silent, captivated by Quentin's perspective.

Quentin couldn't possibly understand what she meant, so he was deliberately misinterpreting.

"Yes, you're crowding me,"  Grace replied irritably.

Quentin immediately moved to the side, then pulled her body to lie in the middle.

His deep voice came again from the darkness, "How about now? Still crowded?"

"If it's still crowded, you can sleep on top of me!"

Grace was startled by this and quickly replied, "Not crowded anymore."

But soon, she found a new reason, "Quentin."

"What is it?!"

In the darkness, his voice had a depth that felt almost palpable. Yet, listening carefully revealed a hint of fatigue beneath its richness.

"Your hair is so wet, it seems like there are water droplets, they're dripping on me and I can't sleep."

"Really?"

With that, he immediately reached out to touch his hair.

Indeed, his hair was still wet.

"Grace, wait a moment!"

He immediately got up and quickly walked to the bathroom.

Soon, Grace heard the sound of a hairdryer.

She was too tired, and listening to the sound of the hairdryer, she couldn't resist the sleepiness anymore and fell asleep.

When Quentin came back with dry hair, Grace was already asleep.

In her deep sleep, she finally let down her guard.

Unlike during the day when she was confrontational, She was gentle and lovely, like a soft little white rabbit, making everyone want to protect her.

"You silly fool," Quentin gently brushed her hair from her forehead, his gaze tender and affectionate, "Such a lousy excuse."

Even with such a lousy excuse, as long as she said it, he still believed it and did as she asked.

"Grace, I just want to hold you and sleep." He murmured.

In her dream, she felt like there was always a wall behind her, hot.

Several times, she thought it was fake.

She reached out to touch it, but the wall was so hot.

So she quickly pulled her hand back.

The next day, Lonnie came to do rounds.

Lonnie assessed Grace's condition.

Her fever had subsided, and apart from being a bit weak, she was fine.

Quentin felt relieved and let out a long breath.

"Dr. Fields, I want to be discharged today, is that okay?" Grace asked.

Lonnie looked at her seriously and nodded, "You can be discharged, but you must be very careful at home. Don't catch a cold again in the next few days, keep warm, and eat well."

Hearing that she could be discharged, Grace nodded vigorously, "Thank you, Dr. Fields."

Since he didn't bring anyone to the hospital, Quentin went to handle the discharge procedures himself.

As soon as he left, the nurse from yesterday mysteriously approached Grace.

"Ms. Morgan, you and your boyfriend are loving!"

Grace was puzzled by this statement.

Seeing her confusion, the nurse slapped her forehead and quickly explained, "Oh right, you were sleeping soundly yesterday, you probably don't know."

"Last night, when I came to do rounds, your boyfriend was holding you and sleeping on the bed."

"The hospital beds are very narrow. I saw your boyfriend almost entirely outside the bed, sleeping on less than half of it, while you were tightly held in his arms, and he kept kissing your forehead!"

Listening to the nurse, Grace couldn't tell what she was feeling.

Yet deep down, she understood that Quentin's motives could stem from anything but love.

"And, let me tell you a secret, because your boyfriend has so little space to sleep, I heard a loud noise when I left the room."

"If I'm not mistaken, he probably fell to the ground."

Grace's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Are you sure he fell?"

"Almost certainly."

When Quentin came back after handling the discharge, he saw the nurse chatting happily with Grace.

"What are you talking about that's making you so happy?"

"Nothing!" Grace replied.

Hearing her words, Quentin's handsome features immediately hardened.

Did she not want to share with him?

Was he a beast or a demon?

Forget it, let her be. If she didn't want to, she didn't have to.

After being discharged, Grace stayed at home for a few days.

Maybe because she was sick, Quentin was quite nice to her during those days.

He went along with her on many things and didn't force her.

The most notable thing was sleeping arrangements. Grace strongly resisted sleeping in the same bed with him.

Quentin got angry and upset.

But seeing her insistence, he finally compromised, "Fine, I'll allow you to sleep alone in the bedroom for these few days."

"But Grace, remember, it's just for these few days. Once you're better, I'll move back to the bedroom."

Grace nodded.

Though a few days felt brief, they were infinitely better than having none at all.

After resting for a few days, Grace received a call from Elijah Caudill, the director who invited her to audition for a movie.

Elijah said she needed to come for an audition.

Although Elijah had invited her, the audition process still had to be followed.

If she were to get the role without auditioning, it just wouldn't be fair.

So, she had to find a way to go out.

Love was something she would never have in this life, and she didn't dare to hope for it anymore.

But her career, she had to hold on to it!

As the time approached, Grace specifically chose a day when Quentin was in a good mood to speak up, "I want to visit Jessica and her kids tomorrow, is that okay?"

She knew that without Quentin's permission, she couldn't leave.

"Is your cold better? How do you feel?"

Grace nodded, "Yes, I'm almost fully recovered."

Quentin, "So you mean I can move back to the bedroom with you."

Grace was helpless.

As expected, Quentin's keen intuition was always on point.

But to be able to go out, she had to agree.

The next day, because she was going to see Jessica, Grace got up early.

Grace planned to head to The Walton Manor after breakfast, using the excuse of going shopping with Jessica to attend the audition.

But she never expected.

As soon as she went downstairs, Quentin walked over and took her hand, "Let's go."

Grace was immediately stunned, "Where to?"

"Your memory is so bad. Didn't you say yesterday you were going to see Jessica and her kids? Did you forget after one night?" Quentin quired.

At that moment, Grace's mind was in chaos, on the verge of collapse.

"Aren't you going to work? I can go alone, there is no need to bother you."

Quentin replied, "I postponed work, I'll go with you."

In the end, Grace could only mechanically let him lead her to the car.
