Chapter 135 Francis
Ethan's words immediately infuriated Jerome, the priest.
Remington furrowed his brow in dissatisfaction, clearly thinking Ethan was too reckless and shameless!
However, he was still willing to give Ethan a chance.
"For Clarence's sake, I can give you a chance. If you can figure out what's wrong with my body and where the problem lies, I will agree with you!"
Before the angry Jerome could speak, Remington stopped him and spoke to Ethan first.
"Mr. Remington, are you really willing to give Ethan a chance?" Sarah said joyfully.
"Don't be too quick to rejoice. I can give him a chance, but if he can't figure anything out or find the root of my problem, he'll be responsible for his arrogant words and have to apologize immediately to Jerome Magister and Francis! I believe Francis and Jerome Magister are both reasonable people and won't make things difficult for him!"
Remington reminded seriously.
Sarah looked worried. Although she had confidence in Ethan, it would be troublesome if he messed up!
"That's fine. If you dare not, then get out of St. Benedict's Priory immediately. We don't welcome you here!" Jerome said mockingly, his face no longer as ugly as before, but his tone still unfriendly towards Ethan.
"No problem. If I can't diagnose Remington's illness, I will apologize immediately and never step foot in St. Benedict's Priory again!" Ethan said confidently.
"Hey, are you really sure about this?" Sarah couldn't help but ask quietly in Ethan's ear, feeling a little uneasy.
"Let's give it a try. Now that Remington has given us an ultimatum, do we have any other choice?" Ethan naturally didn't want to give up this rare opportunity. If he could gain Remington's favor, it would undoubtedly become a crucial trump card in his fight against the Wilson family. He had to fight for it no matter what.
"Young man, you're quite confident! Since you agree with my statement, let's start now! I hope you're willing to gamble and admit defeat!"
Remington sighed reluctantly, knowing that his words were only intended to make Ethan back down, but he never expected this bold young man to actually agree.
"Remington, please lie down on the bed, and I will treat you," Ethan nodded towards the wooden bed on the side.
"I'm curious to see just how capable you can be," Jerome sneered dismissively, thinking that Ethan was just putting on a show.
In front of the bed, Ethan placed his hand on Remington's wrist, giving the appearance of examining his pulse. Only Ethan and Remington knew what really happened during this process.
The moment Ethan's fingers touched his wrist, Remington felt an icy energy entering his body, spreading through his limbs and chest.
At first, Remington was amazed, but his gaze towards Ethan changed instantly.
But then he felt a very pleasant tingling sensation, and while he was overwhelmed by this wonderful feeling, he couldn't quite describe the relief he experienced.
Caught up in this delightful sensation, Remington didn't speak or move a muscle the whole time.
It was only after about three minutes that Ethan finally withdrew his hand.
Sensing the sudden disappearance of that breath, Remington bolted upright.
"What did you find out? You're wasting time," Jerome, growing impatient, immediately asked as soon as Ethan finished diagnosing his pulse.
"You have a total of twelve old injuries, most likely sustained during your youth on the battlefield?" Ethan calmly asked Remington without paying any attention to Jerome.
"Yes, they are all gunshot or explosion wounds. In my younger days, I was shot nine times and survived three explosions on the battlefield. Being alive today is considered a miracle even by doctors!"
Remington's face was filled with complex emotions, finally understanding why Clarence had so much confidence in Ethan.
"This is it. Although Ethan managed to recover from 12 injuries, there are still three fragments left inside his body. The two fragments near the left lung and the left knee joint are manageable, but the fragment in his brain is starting to press on his central nervous system, and that's where his problem lies!" Ethan explained the situation he had discovered in detail.
Remington nodded repeatedly while Jerome, who was beside them, widened his eyes in disbelief.
"It's not possible... How could you possibly know the condition of Remington's body? You're so young, and yet you can tell so many details just by feeling his pulse. It's simply impossible!"
Jerome shook his head continuously, but his eyes were filled with incredulity because everything Ethan said was correct.
Even though Ethan was right, he was unwilling to believe that all of this was diagnosed by Ethan himself!
"I've just said it. In the medical field, those who learned the essence are the crème de la crème. How can you judge someone based on appearances?" Ethan glanced at Jerome and calmly reminded him.
"Nicely said! Jerome, now do you realize your mistake?" At that moment, the lively voice of an elderly man came from outside the door.
Then, the door opened, and an elderly man wearing a white robe and spotting silver hair walked in.
"Magister!" Jerome immediately respectfully lowered his head and greeted the newcomer with a touch of shame on his face.
"Francis!" Remington also got off the bed and greeted the newcomer.
Ethan and Sarah observed the suddenly appearing old man, their faces showing curiosity and surprise.
Considering the old man's age and the level of his silver hair, he was at least in his sixties or seventies. However, his face was ruddy, without a single wrinkle, and his skin looked as youthful as that of someone in their twenties, even better than Sarah's.
Ethan couldn't help but be intrigued. With Francis being recognized as a national-level healer by many, it seemed he wasn't just a fraud seeking fame but, indeed, a transcendent figure with some remarkable abilities.
"Why don't you apologize to this young brother?" Francis smiled and nodded at Ethan, then reprimanded Jerome with dissatisfaction.
"I'm sorry. I had a narrow vision."
Although he was unwilling, Jerome gritted his teeth and bowed to Ethan under Francis's stern gaze.
"It was just a joke. I didn't take it seriously, so there is no need to apologize. The main point is that Remington's condition is now critical, and we can't delay any longer!"
However, Ethan's expression turned serious. It wasn't that he was intentionally showing off, but he had indeed discovered a pessimistic situation while examining Remington earlier, even directly threatening Remington's life!
