Chapter 162 Goodbye, Beverly
How could Ethan go to Houston without Sarah?
"I'm going too. Don't even think you can go to Houston alone!"
Sarah immediately raised her hand and shouted, afraid that Ethan would leave her in Novaria.
"Let Sarah accompany you. It will make your journey to Houston much easier. And don't worry about safety. No one would dare harm her under the protection of the Harris family," he assured.
Knowing Ethan's concerns, Clarence made a decision for him.
"Terrific! Grandpa!"
Sarah immediately cheered in triumph and stuck her tongue out at Ethan.
Ethan glanced at them and could only offer a wry smile. The conversation had reached a point where he couldn't refuse. A tinge of emotion stirred in his heart.
In the next two days, Ethan went to Chloe's company and was relieved to see that everything was running smoothly.
Sarah complained that Ethan didn't trust her.
Before departing from Novaria, Ethan also stopped by Hannah's company and informed her about his trip to Houston. He asked her to let him know if she needed anything while he was away.
The jewelry company had garnered increased popularity and market visibility following the successful jewelry exhibition and the introduction of Ethan's jade Buddha head. It was now in a phase of rapid growth, and with the discreet support of the Harris family, as long as it maintained its steady progress, Ethan had nothing to be concerned about.
However, on the day before leaving Novaria, Ethan secretly met with Beverly again.
They met at the same cafe as last time, both dressed inconspicuously.
"I heard you were planning to go to Houston soon. Why do you suddenly want to meet me?" Beverly sported oversized sunglasses that concealed her eyes, hiding her complex expression.
Beverly didn’t know how to describe or understand Ethan, who had stirred up turmoil within the Wilson family but was now unable to take any action.
In her eyes, it was a miracle that Ethan held on until now.
"Do you enjoy being the CEO of the Cloud Group?"
Ethan stared at Beverly with a smirk as he retorted, "How dare you say that? You're the one who left this mess to me. I’ve been exhausted! Tell me what you want so I can get back to work."
Beverly replied with irritation, "Have you heard of Wilson Group from Baytown?"
Ethan changed the subject and asked, "What do you mean? Everyone in this industry knows them. Don't tell me you're connected to that group?"
Beverly was taken aback by his tone and grew somewhat agitated as she inquired, "Don't lead me on. Are you suggesting you're connected to the Wilson Group? Are you interested in it?”
Ethan's words caught Sarah off guard, and if Beverly hadn't known him well enough to trust his judgment, she might have thought he was being ridiculous and felt the urge to throw her coffee in his face.
"What are you joking about? The Cloud Group is only worth a few billion dollars. How could it possibly swallow Wilson Group, which worth trillions?" Beverly almost instinctively dismissed Ethan's guess.
"Nothing is impossible, and with me, you do have a chance. Moreover, only you can accomplish this. If you made it, you'll undoubtedly be the hero of the Wilson family, and even Brady will be impressed!" Ethan hinted.
"What exactly are you trying to do?" Beverly knew that Ethan must be planning something, but she couldn't figure out yet.
I simply want to reclaim what belongs to me, that's all! The decision is entirely yours. If you prefer not to be part of this chaos, I have alternative plans. However, I urge you to resolve this situation quickly to prevent any complications," Ethan advised earnestly. Grateful for Beverly's covert assistance, he felt it was only fair to offer Sarah the opportunity to make her own choice.
“Ethan didn’t have the time to address Beverly's worries at that moment. She didn't dwell on what he was thinking. The issues he raised required her attention, and he would have to wait for her response.
Beverly remained silent for a long time and eventually sighed helplessly at Ethan, who had a smile on his face.
"I'll wait for your reply, but it would be better if you could be quick because I don’t have much time."
Ethan nodded in satisfaction. He hadn't expected Beverly to agree right away. After a gentle reminder, he stood up and prepared to leave.
"Wait... there's something I need to tell you!"
Beverly suddenly called out to stop Ethan.
"What is it?"
Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"Sharon has been coming to the Cloud Group recently. I didn’t want to meet her, but yesterday she managed to stop me at the entrance."
Beverly sounded a bit helpless.
"Sharon? What does she want from you?"
Ethan frowned. He never thought that one day this name would make him disgusted.
"She wants to discuss with me how to deal with you! I can tell she hates you so much.”
Beverly's tone carried a smugness.
"She want you to gang up with her? Do you have the time and energy for her game? Next time you see her, deal with her however you want. Don’t consider me! I have nothing to do with her anymore.”
Ethan couldn't help but laugh, not knowing if at this ignorant woman or at his past. Perhaps both.
"I agreed to her," Beverly suddenly said.
"Enjoy it then! I am busy."
Ethan shook his head and left without even looking back.
"How hypocritical! In the end, I am the one cleaning up your mess! Do you think I enjoy it?"
Beverly looked at Ethan's retreating figure and snorted.
The next morning, Ethan boarded a flight to Houston with Sarah.
When they arrived at Houston International Airport, it was already ten in the morning.
Walking out of the passenger channel, Ethan and Sarah saw a soldier holding a sign. It was the driver arranged by Remington. Even if Ethan didn't notify him, Remington must have received the exact information of the flight.
Ethan was not surprised at all. "Remington seems to be really anxious. I was thinking of spending a day with you first!"
Sarah was quite unhappy about this, but she had no choice. Guided by the driver, Ethan and Sarah got into a military license plate Audi parked outside, and after an hour, they arrived at a military house in the suburbs.
It was a forbidden area where senior military officers and retired officers lived. Remington's detached villa was located in the most central area of this military estate. When the car pulled off at the villa gate through heavily guarded sentry posts, Ethan saw Bennit already waiting for them at the door!
“Why did you let Bennit greet us at the door? How has Remington been feeling lately?" Ethan inquired politely as he exited the car. Being in enemy territory, they needed to exercise some caution.
