Chapter 285 Jesse Parker

Hubert likely never anticipated that his birthday banquet would end in such a manner. This birthday would surely be one he would remember for a lifetime!

"Is that it? So boring, it's over just like that?" Lyra, still looking unsatisfied, asked Ethan with a hint of discontent in her tone.

"You really do love chaos. Roy works for Dorian. It's fine to deal with Hubert, but it's not the right time to deal with Roy!" Ethan reminded her.

"Why? Didn't you come here today for Roy? Why end this here?" Lyra snorted, wrinkling her nose.

"I'm heading back to Nova York tomorrow. Do you think I'd stir up more trouble? I just wanted to use Hubert to test Roy's reaction," Ethan explained.

"And what did you find out?" Lyra asked curiously.

"I am not sure. Let's wait and see. It's over now. I'll take you home!" Ethan clearly didn't want to explain further and prepared to take Lyra home.

"Wait... we haven't had dinner yet. By this time, Grandpa and the others must have already had dinner. Are you going to let me go home hungry?" Lyra immediately blocked Ethan, touching her flat stomach and complaining.

"Then let's have dinner first before going back!" Ethan thought Lyra was being deliberately difficult. However, as her brother-in-law, he couldn't really let her go hungry, so he took her to a restaurant by the roadside.

"Ethan, you're rich, and you have the nerve to bring me to a place like this?" Lyra looked at the dimly lit, somewhat dirty restaurant with disdain.

Though she was usually very low-key at school and never wasteful, she was particular about her living conditions and never compromised. She had never touched such food before, making today a rare exception.

"Have you never eaten at a restaurant like this before?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.

"Of course not. I doubt the food here is even edible. How about we go somewhere else? My treat!" Lyra said, pulling Ethan's hand towards a nearby family restaurant with a better appearance.

"If you've never tried it, then you must. I promise you won't regret it!" Before Lyra could react, Ethan dragged her into it.

"Bad Ethan, bringing me to a place like this. I'll tell Chloe you bullied me when we get back!" Lyra complained non-stop after entering the restaurant, wondering how Ethan could sit on those greasy-looking chairs.

Ethan watched, speechless, as Lyra used up an entire pack of napkins to wipe the chair repeatedly, then laid down two layers of napkins before finally sitting down.

"You really are spoiled. Compared to Chloe, you're far behind!" Ethan sighed helplessly at her disdainful expression.

Hearing this, Lyra immediately asked curiously, "Does Chloe come to places like this with you?"

"Of course, Chloe doesn't have as many bad habits as you do!" Ethan nodded.

To Ethan's surprise, Lyra quieted down after hearing this and didn't insist on changing places, evidently accepting the arrangement. He thought, 'Did she change her mind so quickly?'

"Hey, if you really don't want to be here, we can go somewhere else. I don't want you going back and telling Chloe I mistreated you!" Ethan laughed, seeing her resigned expression.

"No way. If Chloe can do it, why can't I? Don't say I'm spoiled anymore!" Lyra, surprisingly, stood her ground against Ethan, clenching her fists and warning him fiercely.

"Fine, but remember, don't blame me if you don't like it!" Ethan, too lazy to argue further, ordered two spaghetti.

"Ethan, where else have you and Chloe been?" Lyra asked curiously while they waited for their food.

"Chloe and I have been to many places. When we were in Nova York, we practically explored all the fun spots in the city. Just yesterday, we climbed mountains together," Ethan replied nonchalantly.

"Can you take me along next time?" Lyra asked tentatively after a moment of silence.

"Sure, as long as I have the time. We can take Chloe and Sarah and go wherever you want," Ethan agreed without much thought.

Hearing this, Lyra fell silent again, lost in her thoughts. At that moment, a man walked into the restaurant, dressed in a gray robe.

Jesse Parker sat at the table closest to the door and ordered spaghetti with beef and a glass of wine. Seeing the man wasn't unusual, but Lyra, who rarely encountered such people, was curious about Jesse. She excitedly asked Ethan, "Ethan, look, why is he eating beef and drinking wine?"

"Is it strange? Don't you know that monks can even marry and have children nowadays?" Ethan laughed.

"Really? That's the first I've heard of it!" Lyra was curious.

At that moment, the waiter brought their food.

"Is it really good?" Lyra asked, staring at the food as Ethan took a big bite.

"It's delicious," Ethan reassured her, unable to suppress a laugh at her expression.

Lyra hesitated for a long time, watching Ethan finish half his bowl in one go. Finally, she took a deep breath and tried a small bite of it. As soon as she tasted it, her eyes lit up.
