Chapter 558 Confrontation
Leo was getting manhandled by two dudes, thrashing around and cussing up a storm. "Giuseppe, if you got the guts, face me one-on-one! What's the point of bringing backup?"
Giuseppe just laughed it off. "You got some nerve, but why would I fight you solo? I'm not an idiot. You're from the Martinez family. If I mess you up, it's gonna be a headache. I don't need that kind of drama," he sneered.
He was clearly wary of the Martinez name, even though Norman had retired. The family's clout was enough to keep Giuseppe in check. But that didn't stop him from making a public spectacle out of Leo. He wanted to show everyone what happens when you cross him.
Or maybe Leo just had the bad luck of being born a Martinez, destined to be Giuseppe's stepping stone.
Angela and Ethan watched the whole thing with cold detachment, but Marco couldn't keep his cool. He jumped up and yelled, "That's enough, Giuseppe! Don't push it!"
"Push it? You think you can step in? Know your place, man. You don't get to talk to me," Giuseppe shot back, eyes full of disdain.
"Do I get to talk?" Francesco's icy voice cut through the tension from behind Giuseppe.
"Francesco? What's he doing here?"
"Man, today’s wild. First Angela, now the real Martinez heavyweight shows up!"
"Is he here to support Leo? No wonder Leo had the guts to stand up to Giuseppe; he had backup coming."
"This is gonna be good. Francesco's got more clout than Giuseppe. Let's see who comes out on top."
The crowd buzzed with excitement.
"Francesco, didn't expect to see you here. This is a surprise," Giuseppe's face darkened at the sight of him.
"You said Leo and Marco weren't worth your time. What about me?" Francesco asked, his face a mask of calm.
Giuseppe's eyes darted around, realizing Francesco was alone. Suspicion crept into his expression.
"You came to RD Club alone to mess with me?" Giuseppe asked, frowning.
"Relax. Yeah, I came alone. A place like this, I don't need backup," Francesco chuckled, totally unfazed.
"What do you want?" Giuseppe asked, a bit more at ease.
"Think you can mess with a Martinez?" Francesco ignored the question, his gaze fixed on the two guys holding Leo down.
Even though Francesco wasn't a fighter, his stare made the two guys sweat bullets. They looked to Giuseppe for help.
"Since you asked, I'll show some respect. Let him go," Giuseppe sighed, then smirked at Francesco.
The two guys, relieved, let go of Leo.
Leo sprang up, ready to charge at Giuseppe again, but before he could, a slap stopped him cold.
Francesco had slapped him. His face was furious, but his voice was eerily calm. "If you got the guts, handle Giuseppe yourself. I won't stop you. But why drag others into this?"
As soon as Francesco finished talking, Angela let go of Ethan's arm, stood up, and said, "I'm not just some 'others'. First, I'm Leo's friend. Second, I got my own beef with him." The "him" she meant was Giuseppe.
Ethan, standing nearby, had known this for a while, and now Angela was finally saying it out loud.
Angela's words made Francesco look all kinds of awkward. He shook his head and gave a wry smile. "Why do you all gotta make things so complicated?"
"Why are you even here?" Angela asked, staring him down.
"I heard you came to RD Club, so I had to show up," Francesco sighed, sounding pretty helpless.
Given Giuseppe's status and his alpha personality, most women he liked couldn't escape his grasp, except Angela. And that was only because she had the Martinez family backing her up.
That's why Giuseppe had spent years trying to get rid of any guy who got close to Angela. He couldn't mess with the Martinez family, at least not until Andrea was fully in charge of the military. He didn't have that kind of power yet.
Angela let out a sigh of relief hearing this. She knew how much pressure Francesco had been shielding her from all these years.
Her only worry was that Francesco's sudden appearance was a direct order from Norman, which would mean today's showdown would have to end here, messing up her plans. She wanted to settle things once and for all today because she had Ethan now, who could protect her from everything.
"Angela, you know how I feel about you. I'm glad you came today. But bringing others along is just provoking me," Giuseppe said seriously.
"You're right. I am here to provoke you today. I hadn't figured out how to settle our issues, but seeing this fight club gave me an idea," Angela said straight up.
"Alright, tell me, how do you wanna settle it?" Giuseppe's face lit up with interest. If he could finally get Angela, he'd be more than happy to play along. He didn't think for a second that he couldn't make her compromise.
"We'll have a fight. I know you're a skilled fighter, and I've been training too. Let's settle this with a win or lose," Angela declared.
"No way," Francesco's face turned pale, and he immediately shouted.
"I think it's a great idea. If I win, does that mean I get you?" Giuseppe's eyes sparkled, and he looked at Angela's figure and face with an undisguised hunger.
"No, he's already a Half-Step Grandmaster. You can't win," Francesco warned Angela urgently.
Angela was taken aback. She remembered Giuseppe being at the same level as her, but she didn't expect him to have reached Half-Step Grandmaster first. Either her intel was outdated, or the Green family was just that good at keeping secrets.
"That's right, I'm already a Half-Step Grandmaster. In all of Everglow, who can match your family background or strength? And there're even fewer who can compare to me," Giuseppe didn't deny it but instead smiled, trying to use this to persuade Angela to compromise.
