Chapter 404 Something Was Off
Alice happily linked arms with Ethan, surprising Davis a bit.
From Alice's expression, Davis could tell a lot without her saying a word; he already guessed their relationship.
"Remember the handsome guy from Vexa I told you about?" Alice asked with a smile.
"So he's the one you've been talking about from Vexa!" Lilia said, suddenly understanding.
"Nice to meet you!" Ethan nodded politely to them.
"His name is Ethan, and yes, he's my fiancé!" Alice hesitated for a moment but felt happy seeing Ethan's smile.
"You're engaged?" Lilia asked, surprised.
"Sort of, at least Eric has acknowledged it!" Alice nodded vaguely.
"Congrats to both of you, especially you, Alice. You finally got what you wanted!" Lilia teased with a smile.
"Mr. Wilson, have you thought about developing your career in Norway?" Davis asked, interested in Ethan.
"You two chat. Lilia and I will go inside and talk!" Alice said, letting go of Ethan and walking into the club with Lilia, chatting and laughing.
"Let's go inside and talk, too!" Ethan frowned slightly, wanting to call Alice back but decided against it.
He wasn't sure why the Sun and Moon Beads had trembled earlier; if it wasn't because of Lilia, it would be quite embarrassing!
"No problem. Mr. Wilson will always be the most respected guest at my club!" Davis said, gesturing for Ethan to follow him. They both entered the club behind Alice and Lilia.
"Is the club yours?" Ethan asked, trying to find a way to ask about Lilia indirectly.
Luckily, once inside the club's hall, Alice and Lilia sat within his line of sight, allowing him to react immediately to any situation.
"Yes, this club is mine and my first investment. It's a membership-only club, requiring an introduction to join. Since you're Alice's fiancé, you naturally become our highest-level member!" Davis said proudly.
"Thanks, but I'm not sure if I'll come here again. I'm heading back to Vexa in a few days." Ethan shook his head with a smile.
"Mr. Wilson, are you not planning to stay in Norway? Or are you planning to keep Alice in Vexa forever?" Davis frowned.
"I have a big business in Vexa and many important matters to handle. I won't force Alice to stay or leave; it's her choice whether she stays in Vexa or Norway!" Ethan explained seriously.
"Alright! Once Alice sets her mind on something, she won't give up, especially when it comes to love!" Davis said with a wry smile after a moment of silence.
"You know her well?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"I pursued her for two years in college, but she never accepted me. Eventually, I gave up. Trust me, I know her better than most people, except you." Davis said with a self-deprecating smile.
"Are they close?" Ethan asked casually, glancing at Alice and Lilia nearby.
"You mean Lilia? The three of us were college classmates. They were best friends, and Lilia is a princess of Norway. Didn't Alice tell you?" Davis asked curiously.
"So she's the princess. Alice mentioned a good friend who was a princess but didn't say her name!" Ethan said, looking enlightened but growing more suspicious.
He was using the Sun and Moon Beads to sense the surrounding aura and noticed a peculiar one around Princess Lilia that made the beads react.
He wasn't sure what this reaction meant, but it couldn't be good.
The last time this happened was when absorbing Arnold's demonic energy, and back then, the Sun and Moon Beads weren't fully under his control. Now, they could act entirely according to Ethan's will.
However, the aura he sensed from Lilia wasn't like the demonic energy from Arnold or Asura Bloodhand. If it wasn't demonic energy, what could cause such a reaction in the Sun and Moon Beads?
"Lilia is King Ryan Seymour's favorite youngest princess. Her mother, Carol Wheeler, died shortly after giving birth to her, which might be why Ryan favors Lilia so much. Lilia doesn't have many friends; I count as one, and Alice is her closest friend!" Davis shared some info about Lilia.
"Can a princess freely choose her friends? I thought someone of her status would be heavily protected!" Ethan asked, intrigued.
"Although Norway has a royal family, you should know that the royal family is just a spiritual symbol of the country. The government nominally serves the royal family but is actually independent of it. The royal family's power isn't as great as it used to be, so their lifestyle isn't much different from ours! Of course, compared to ordinary people, there's still a huge difference!" Davis explained.
"Got it. It's similar to the situation in Kyro." Ethan nodded.
"You seem very interested in Lilia," Davis noted.
"If Alice hadn't insisted on attending your party tonight and dragged me along, we might never have met. I never intended to meet a princess!" Ethan said, taken aback by the question, then shook his head with a wry smile.
"You're quite interesting. Do you always speak your mind, or is that just how all Vexa people are?" Davis asked, surprised by Ethan's indifference towards Lilia.
"Consider me honest. Do you enjoy dealing with hypocrites who say one thing and do another?" Ethan replied with a smile.
"I see why Alice likes you! But be careful not to let Lilia hear what you just said, or it might hurt her confidence! Maybe try being a bit more of a gentleman and a little less blunt!" Davis advised seriously.
"You brought up the topic!" Ethan bluntly shifted the responsibility to Davis.
Davis was stunned and speechless for a moment.
Just then, Alice and Lilia walked towards them, and Davis's expression returned to normal.
