Chapter 462 Dead was dead

Lester's face went pale as soon as he heard that.

Gary wasn't looking too happy either. He was totally using this chance to chew out Lester, hoping he'd nab Ethan and his crew on the spot.

If Ethan really had the chops to stir up trouble, Gary would have some wiggle room, letting Lester take the heat first. But he didn't count on Ethan seeing right through his scheme.

Ethan's words put Lester in a tight spot. He wasn't dumb, but Ethan was clearly making him pick a side.

If Lester hesitated even a bit, Gary would be all over him. In this mess, if he didn't back Gary, he'd have to back Ethan. Sweat started pouring down his face.

"Are you the Half-Step Grandmaster Ivan mentioned?" Gary tried to keep his cool but glared at Ethan, his voice low and angry.

"Yep, and you must be Gary, Ivan and Enrique's top dog, the garrison officer of Bankgok, right?" Ethan nodded with a grin and shot back.

"Watch your mouth. I'm a local official, a state officer. How dare you talk trash about me?" Gary yelled, fuming.

"You know if it's trash talk or not. Ivan and Enrique know too. You want me to lay out all the dirt for you, Mr. Collins?" Ethan chuckled, totally unfazed.

"So what if you're a Half-Step Grandmaster? This is Bankgok, my turf. No matter what Ivan and Enrique did, it's not your call. You had someone beat Enrique for no reason, breaking the rules. You trying to go against the state?" Gary snorted, acting like Ethan wouldn't dare mess with him.

"You think you speak for the state?" Ethan's face darkened, feeling a wave of disgust.

He hadn't taken Gary seriously before, but now, seeing him spout such self-righteous crap, he was truly disgusted.

"At least I'm the local garrison officer." Gary sneered, full of himself.

Ethan stared at Gary for a few seconds, then suddenly burst out laughing.

"What the hell are you laughing at?" Gary frowned and asked.

"I'm laughing at you. You really think you're all that? Even if I offed Ivan and Enrique right in front of you, what could you do to me?" Ethan smirked and asked Gary.

"How dare you? You declaring war on the state? Even if you're a Half-Step Grandmaster, you should know there are rules that bind you too." Gary's face turned red with anger at Ethan's arrogance, and he warned Ethan with the state's and martial artists' rules. He was genuinely unsure of what Ethan was planning.

"You, a mere local official, know quite a lot. You talking about the rules set by Celestia Vale?" Ethan sneered, totally unimpressed.

Gary's face was all over the place. He had no clue what Celestia Vale was, just that martial artists had their own set of rules. But from the way Ethan was talking, it seemed like he didn't give a damn about those rules!

"I'm giving you one last shot. Take care of Ivan and Enrique for me, and we're even. I won't mess with your business anymore," Ethan warned Gary.

"Gary, don't listen to him. I'm your father-in-law, and Enrique is your brother-in-law," Ivan panicked, trying to remind Gary of their family ties.

"What if I say no?" Gary asked, looking unsure.

"You really think I have the patience to haggle with you?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, his tone dropping.

"What are you planning to do?" Gary felt a wave of panic and took a step back.

"If you won't do it, then I'll handle it myself. And you too." As soon as Ethan finished speaking, Ivan let out a scream.

Before Gary and the others could even blink, Ivan hit the ground, eyes wide open.

A shiny silver needle was stuck in his neck, showing that Ethan had taken him out with one swift move, giving him no chance to fight back.

"You... you killed him?" Gary stared in horror at Ivan's lifeless body.

"Don't worry, there's one more," Ethan said, then jabbed another needle into the unconscious Enrique's neck. Poor Enrique didn't even know what hit him before he was gone.

In a flash, Ethan had taken out both Ivan and Enrique. No one at the scene had time to react. No one expected him to act so decisively, leaving no room for negotiation.

"Ethan..." Jessie frowned at the sight of the dead Ivan and Enrique.

"They're dead, so what? It doesn't matter. I just want to see how this local big shot of Bankgok plans to deal with me." Ethan cut Jessie off, staring directly at the still-shocked Gary.

"You... you actually killed them." Gary was almost in shock. He couldn't believe Ethan had the guts to do it.

"Didn't you think I wouldn't dare? Now you know I do. I've killed them, so what's your next move?" Ethan taunted Gary.

"Arrest this murderer and his crew. Shoot anyone who resists," Gary shouted angrily, ordering the soldiers he brought.

"Gary, you must have a death wish. Let's see who dares to move." At that moment, a loud shout came from a distance.

Hearing the voice, Gary trembled, his face showing disbelief. Ethan's lips curled into a smile.

"Mr. Torres, you got here quick." Ethan turned to see Robert running over and asked with a grin.

"Sorry, Mr. Wilson. As soon as I got your message, I rushed over as fast as I could. Luckily, I made it in time."

Robert looked at the scene, his face full of fear, cursing Gary in his mind. He wasn't worried about Ethan's safety. He was more concerned about the innocent soldiers getting caught up in Gary's orders and facing unnecessary harm.
