Chapter 613 A Chance Encounter on the Street
"I know I'm good-looking, but you don't have to be so obvious about it, do you?" Ethan touched his cheek where Bonnie had planted a kiss, shaking his head with a grin.
"Well, I... I didn't mean to, I was just really happy!" Bonnie looked even more flustered.
"This time, you took advantage of me, and I'm going to remember that." Ethan nodded with a smile, but as soon as he said it, the air got even more awkward, making him regret it.
"By the way, why'd you suddenly come looking for me?" Bonnie quickly changed the subject, trying to escape the embarrassment.
"Get in touch with Patricia right away and tell her the treasure on Vast Mountain will only show up tomorrow night during the full moon. She'll know what to do. Also, remind her to spread the word, but the Ladies Guild shouldn't rush into this," Ethan instructed seriously.
"Okay, I'll text her right now!" Bonnie quickly sent a message to Patricia on her phone.
Patricia and Bonnie used texts because in the secret realm, phone calls didn't go through. Texts would be received as soon as they hit an area with signal. Over time, they got used to texting each other. Actually, this was a common habit among most people from hidden sects once they started using phones.
After doing all this, Bonnie's eyes widened with curiosity, "How do you know the treasure on Vast Mountain will appear during the full moon?"
"Being too curious isn't good for you!" Ethan stared at Bonnie and reminded her.
"Did I ask the wrong question?" Bonnie stuck out her tongue, feeling a bit guilty.
"It's not about right or wrong. I mean, a person's curiosity should match their strength, so they don't end up losing their life because of it!" Ethan warned seriously.
Bonnie's eyes widened, and she asked timidly, "You wouldn't kill me just for asking, would you?"
Ethan was amused by her. "Yeah, if you know too much, you'll be silenced."
Ethan gave an evil smile, then signaled to Kenneth and walked out.
"Wait, where are you going?" Bonnie finally reacted and quickly asked.
"It's still early, I'm going to take a walk downtown." As soon as Ethan finished speaking, he saw Bonnie catching up.
"Wait for me! If you're going downtown, let me drive you. I also want to visit Margare!" Bonnie was afraid Ethan would leave just like that, so she shouted loudly.
Ethan stopped and looked back at Bonnie. "Aren't you waiting for Patricia to come back?"
"No need, I don't have much to do at the Ladies Guild anyway, and Patricia asked me to take care of you!" Bonnie quickly came up with a reasonable excuse.
Ethan nodded. "Alright, we're not in a rush anyway."
The main reason for heading back to the city was to kill time. Once the Ladies Guild spread the word, most folks from hidden sects would pass through the city. Walking was way less convenient than driving for those below the master level.
Sure enough, once they got back to the city in Bonnie's car, Ethan immediately noticed a difference. There were noticeably more martial artists around. Just on the road, Ethan sensed several martial artists in nearby vehicles, even a few semi-masters, which was unprecedented.
"Looks like Patricia's pretty efficient!" Ethan chuckled to himself.
"What?" Bonnie didn't catch on at first. With her level of skill, she couldn't sense the sudden changes in the city.
"Nothing, we're in the city now. Find a place to drop us off," Ethan didn't explain further and instructed Bonnie.
"Where are you going? I'll come with you!" Bonnie looked a bit disappointed and nervous.
"Didn't you say you were going to visit Margare? Your house is nearby, right?" Ethan reminded her, a bit exasperated.
"I just messaged Margare. She's out shopping with her friends. My main task is to take care of you, or Patricia will blame me!" Bonnie quickly found an excuse and looked at Ethan pitifully.
Knowing Bonnie was making things up, Ethan couldn't really verify it, so he smiled wryly. "Alright then, drive towards Vast Mountain but don't leave the city. Stop at the entrance to the road leading to Vast Mountain."
"No problem!" Bonnie was overjoyed and immediately drove towards Vast Mountain.
"Mr. Wilson, I think Bonnie likes you," Kenneth found Bonnie amusing and whispered to Ethan with a smirk.
Kenneth's whispering wasn't because he was afraid Bonnie would hear. As long as he didn't want Bonnie to hear, she wouldn't hear a thing. It was just because he was afraid Ethan would glare at him.
As expected, Ethan glared at him without saying a word and closed his eyes to rest. However, at that moment, Bonnie suddenly braked and stopped the car by the roadside.
"What happened?" Ethan frowned, but he didn't need Bonnie to answer.
On the street ahead, Margare was walking with two other girls. Ethan's expression turned strange. 'So Bonnie wasn't lying?' Running into Margare on the street was quite a coincidence.
"It's really Margare. She just escaped danger yesterday, and today she's out again!" Bonnie's words made Ethan roll his eyes. It seemed Bonnie had hit the mark by accident!
