Chapter 608 About the Divine Beast
"Are you leaving?" Bonnie's voice wavered with a hint of panic as she looked at Ethan.
"Yeah, hanging around the Ladies Guild is just a waste of time now. The leaders are all busy, and I can't just sit here doing nothing," Ethan replied, nodding seriously.
"But, when will we see each other again?" Bonnie asked, her voice filled with reluctance.
"Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on what's happening at Vast Mountain? When Patricia and the others get back, tell them to join the other sects heading there. You'll see me at Vast Mountain," Ethan reminded her calmly, though he felt a bit helpless and frustrated. He could see the reluctance in Bonnie's eyes. He had just brought Angela back and had to control himself this time. He couldn't afford to get involved with another woman.
Ethan finally left the Ladies Guild under Bonnie's reluctant gaze, with Kenneth by his side. As long as Kenneth didn't unleash his terrifying grandmaster-level aura, no one would guess that this unremarkable old man was actually a top-notch expert.
"He's gone, and you're still staring. Don't be foolish. How could a master like him be interested in someone like you?" Kimberly mocked Bonnie, who looked resentful.
"Are you looking for trouble?" Bonnie snapped, pointing at Kimberly and shouting.
"I'm just being honest. Can you really say you don't like that guy?" Kimberly snorted.
"Enough talk. If you have the guts, let's fight. I've had enough of you." Bonnie couldn't take it anymore and drew the long whip from her waist, charging at Kimberly.
"Bring it on. You think I'm afraid of you?" Kimberly also seemed eager to teach Bonnie a lesson. She drew her long sword and thrust it towards Bonnie.
Ethan had no idea that as soon as he left, Bonnie and Kimberly started fighting. But to him, such a farce was just a farce.
"Mr. Wilson, where to next?" Kenneth, following behind Ethan, asked curiously.
Ethan had originally planned to wait at the Ladies Guild for news from Patricia and the others. When the hidden sects couldn't resist heading to Vast Mountain, he would blend in and take advantage of the situation. But unexpectedly, he suddenly changed his mind and decided to leave.
When Ethan and Trevor were talking earlier, Kenneth had sensibly stayed with Bonnie and didn't follow them, so he didn't know what they had discussed. Ethan explained what Trevor had said while they were on the road.
"There is actually a wolf spirit beast on Vast Mountain? That's incredible!" Kenneth was also shocked by the news Trevor brought.
"Seems like you know a bit about spirit beasts?" Ethan raised an eyebrow and asked. Although he had read some records about spirit beasts, they were just fragments, and he didn't know much.
"I've only heard some rumors. I don't really know anything." Kenneth looked embarrassed.
Ethan rolled his eyes, thinking, 'If you don't know anything, why make such a fuss?'
But just because Kenneth didn't know didn't mean others didn't. In Ethan's Requiem Tower, not to mention Angel, even the souls trapped inside knew things beyond Ethan's imagination.
"Spirit beasts? You said you found spirit beasts?" When Angel in the Requiem Tower heard Ethan's question, she immediately got excited.
"Yes, but you seem particularly excited." Ethan nodded, somewhat surprised.
"Yeah. I don't know why I am so excited either." Angel was puzzled and frowned. Ethan was speechless. Angel had lost her memory and seemed a bit unhinged.
"I need to figure out how to handle that spirit beast, but I don't know much about them. So, I wanted to ask you about spirit beasts and how to tame them," Ethan asked straight up.
"You want to tame a spirit beast? It's actually pretty simple. You just need to use a secret technique to inject your blood essence into the spirit beast to form a mark. Basically, it's about establishing a master-servant contract with the spirit beast," Angel explained casually.
"Is it really that simple?" Ethan was even more speechless. It was obvious that it couldn't be that simple. What Angel described was probably the last step in taming a spirit beast. The steps before that were likely extremely difficult.
"If the spirit beast's strength is way below yours, then yeah, it's that simple. Just capture it and forcefully mark it to establish a contract. If it's stronger than you, then you're asking for trouble." Angel's tone was as if she were talking to an idiot.
Ethan felt a bit embarrassed. Thinking about it, it did make sense. In essence, no matter what, he had to be stronger than the spirit beast, capable of defeating and controlling it. But he didn't even know what kind of creature Moonhowl was or how strong it was.
"What level is the spirit beast you want to tame?" Angel suddenly asked.
"I don't know. But I also want to ask, what levels are there for spirit beasts?" Ethan smiled awkwardly and asked curiously.
"You want to tame it without knowing its level and strength?" Now it was Angel's turn to be speechless. But she still explained the concept of spirit beast levels to Ethan.
Spirit beasts were divided into two types: ordinary spirit beasts and those with true spirit bloodlines. The latter, even if weaker than the former at the same level, could suppress the former with their powerful bloodline aura.
The levels of spirit beasts, initially different from humans, became similar after the Transformation Stage.
Newborn spirit beasts, due to their inherited traits, had the strength of an average warrior. Those with true spirit bloodlines were naturally stronger, equivalent to a Half-Step Grandmaster. This stage was called the Infant Stage.
Next was the Adolescent Stage, where a spirit beast had the strength comparable to a master level. They lacked a Sea of Consciousness, but their physical bodies were much stronger, not something an average master level could compare to.
Even a grandmaster wouldn't dare claim they could tame an Adolescent Stage spirit beast. It depended on the beast's specific strength, personality, and luck.
Above that was the Mature Stage, equivalent to the Golden Core Stage. But an average Golden Core Stage expert was no match for a Mature Stage spirit beast.
After the Golden Core Stage was the Nascent Soul Stage. For spirit beasts, this was the Transformation Stage, where they could truly take human form.
A Nascent Soul Stage spirit beast had two forms, but whether in human or beast form, their strength far surpassed humans of the same level. Unless they were prodigious cultivators with techniques to counter the spirit beast, most Nascent Soul Stage cultivators avoided a Transformation Stage spirit beast whenever they encountered one.
Angel didn't elaborate further, as this information was enough for Ethan to digest. Theoretically, there shouldn't be any Transformation Stage spirit beasts in this world, not even Golden Core Stage ones.
