Chapter 376 It Was Norman Calling
Hannah knew Ethan was trying to reassure her and show his support.
Camila was her main worry. With Ethan and Jessie showing so much love, what more could she want?
"Thank you, Ethan and Jessie, too!" Hannah couldn't hold back her tears.
"Why is Mommy crying?" Camila asked, wiping Hannah's cheeks with her little hands.
"It's nothing, Camila. I'm just happy!" Hannah quickly wiped her tears.
Camila didn't understand much but genuinely liked Ethan as her dad.
"Sweetie, come here!" Ethan laughed and took Camila from Hannah.
They all went back to the Miller family estate. After putting Camila to bed, Ethan planned to talk to Percival about going to Sunridge.
He was leaving early the next morning and needed to inform him.
But before he reached Percival's room, he got a call from an unknown number.
With some suspicion, Ethan answered, "This is Ethan. Who's that?"
"Ethan, you came back to Everglow City and didn't even visit me!" a playful voice scolded.
Ethan felt embarrassed. It was Norman.
He had forgotten about Norman when he returned to Everglow City!
Since he was leaving for Sunridge early and it was already past ten, he couldn't visit Norman now.
"Sorry, Norman. I had to come back to Everglow City. You must know what happened, right?" Ethan explained awkwardly.
"I heard some things. Didn't expect you to be the head of the ZF Guild and Arthur's successor! Too important to bother with me now?" Norman teased.
"Not at all! I have to go to Sunridge tomorrow. I'll visit you when I get back," Ethan said with a wry smile.
"No need for that. If you care, come tonight. I need to discuss something with you!" Norman's tone changed.
"Now? Won't I disturb you?" Ethan was surprised.
"Come on, I've already arranged a car outside the Miller estate!" Norman said calmly.
"So you planned this? Alright, I'll be there soon. See you in a bit!" Ethan, feeling touched, ended the call, informed Jessie, and left.
To his surprise, the car had Bennit in the passenger seat and Remington in the back, though the driver wasn't Lysander.
"Remington, Bennit, long time no see!" Ethan greeted with a guilty smile.
Bennit ignored him, looking displeased and turning away.
Remington had a stern, imposing look.
"Get in, Norman's waiting for us!"
"Okay!"
Despite the awkwardness, Ethan thickened his skin, opened the car door, and sat next to Remington.
"Stay away from me!" Remington glared at Ethan.
"Remington, if I did something wrong, just tell me. Why act like this?" Ethan said, frustrated.
"You've got the nerve to ask? I even thought about shooting you! The Nightfall Brigade's been in Novaria for over a month, and you haven't visited once! Have you forgotten your duties?" Remington snapped.
Ethan knew he couldn't dodge this. Norman's late-night call was probably about the Nightfall Brigade.
"How could I forget? I've kept your instructions in mind. I just haven't had the time. You and Norman know what's been happening recently!" Ethan explained helplessly.
"If it weren't for knowing your troubles, do you think you'd still be sitting here talking to me?" Remington rolled his eyes and snorted.
As they spoke, the car headed to Fragrant Garden. Bennit stayed silent, looking at a document until they arrived.
After venting, Remington also went quiet, making Ethan feel uneasy. Was something big about to happen?
Soon, they reached Norman's place and saw him drinking tea.
Since Ethan had treated Norman, his health had improved. It was hard to believe he was around ninety and still so robust!
To Ethan's surprise, besides Norman and his military doctor, there was also a female officer, Angela Lopez!
Seeing Angela, Ethan's eyes lit up. He didn't expect such a beautiful woman in the military!
He was even more surprised she was a Major General!
She looked about thirty but was already a general!
He wondered if Angela was married.
The thought popped into his mind, making Ethan shake his head to stop thinking nonsense!
"You three sit down and talk. Everyone else, please leave," Norman instructed calmly as they entered.
The officers and doctors left, but Angela stayed, her eyes never leaving Ethan since he walked in.
Ethan thought, 'Why is Angela staring at me? Am I really that charming, making her fall for me at first sight?'
