Chapter54 Chloe's Assistance
"Ethan didn't expect that Chloe would go to such lengths for him.
She even dragged the Harris family in, which shocked him and gave him a mix of emotions. There was both a sense of appreciation and a slight tremor!
The first time Ethan felt this was when he faced Sharon. “No, I can’t involve you in the Wilson family’s matters!”
Despite that, he maintained composure. He did need support from these big families, but he didn't want to drag Chloe into it.
“Ethan, you need to listen to me!” Chloe firmly said, her tone leaving no room for doubt.
This word slipped out of Ethan's mouth almost subconsciously, “Why?”
“Because... because I don't want anything happening to you!” she gazed deeply into his eyes, her strange affection shining in her eyes and making his body shudder. No matter how dumb he could be, he still knew Chloe's intentions.
“Do you know what you're saying?” he felt a dryness in his throat, his voice unexpectedly hoarse. Her words were undoubtedly an indirect confession, leaving him confused and at a loss.
He never expected that after giving up on Sharon, he would quickly get into another relationship. However, he was the Wilson family’s reject now, so he was always in danger. How could he deserve the Miller family’s young lady?
“No stray thoughts; all you have to do now is obediently listen to me!” Without waiting for him to speak, Chloe dragged him toward the Harris family's mansion. Her assertiveness and sudden dominance seemed to unconsciously help Ethan make a decision.
At least he was aware of her place in his heart, not rejecting this kind of relationship. It wasn't until she stopped in front of a luxurious four-story villa that he snapped back to reality.
“Remember, you must listen to me. No arguing, or else I'll show you tears!” Chloe was still anxious and, while releasing his arm, raised her fist while threatening him fiercely.
He stared at her, suddenly feeling an impulse. Instead of saying anything, he only grabbed her hand. On the other hand, she smiled slightly, looking truly beautiful to him!
Just then, a girl suddenly ran out of the villa and asked in dissatisfaction, “Chloe, why did it take you so long to arrive? I've been waiting for 30 minutes, I thought you wouldn't come!”
They quickly withdrew their hands upon seeing the newcomer, their faces involuntarily blushing and showing signs of panic!
Ethan couldn't help but laugh at Chloe’s embarrassed look, finding it quite cute.
“I'm here, aren’t I? Stop saying so much and let's go inside!”
Chloe grunted at the girl who had run out.
“Oh, so you brought a handsome man with you. What's your relationship?”
It was clear that the girl and Chloe were extremely closer. The girl couldn't help but tease when she saw Ethan.
“I should just sew your mouth shut! This is my friend, Ethan!”
Chloe playfully chased after the girl, her face blushing brightly. She then turned to Ethan and said, “This is my best friend, Sarah.”
“Nice to meet you, Miss Harris!”
Ethan nodded and greeted Sarah.
“Since you're Chloe's friend, you're my friend as well. Don't be so formal; just call me Sarah. It's scorching outside, so come on in.”
Sarah had an outgoing personality, immediately greeting the two.
They entered the villa. As soon as they sat down on the sofa, Ethan felt a cool sensation on his chest.
The bead was once again releasing that coldness!
What's going on?
He couldn't help but be astonished, lost in thought.
Was it because of the bead itself, or did this villa have something special that made it react?
“You guys sit down. I'll cut some fruits up for you!”
Sarah said as she went straight to the kitchen.
“I'll help you out!” Chloe told Ethan to make himself at home and quickly followed.
They obviously had something to discuss privately inside. On the other hand, Ethan was focused on the villa, feeling the bead’s weirdness as he walked around and observed.
“Tell me honestly, who exactly is Ethan?”
Sarah whispered to Chloe as soon as she saw her following.
“Do you really not know who he is?” Chloe countered.
“His surname is Wilson? Is he related to the Wilsons?”
Sarah's mind immediately speculated.
Chloe smiled bitterly as she explained Ethan's identity, not hiding the fact that the Wilsons had banished him.
“Do you want the Harris family to help him? Be honest, Chloe. Do you like him?”
Sarah asked with a face full of suspicion.
“You know my situation. I just want to help him one last time!”
Chloe didn’t answer directly, her tone filled with helplessness and bitterness.
“Is it worth it? Does he know?” Sarah furrowed her brows.
“He doesn't know, and that's why I wanted to tell you. You can’t tell him a thing after returning to Houston!” Chloe pleaded with a distressed expression.
“Why do you have to do this? He’ll know sooner or later, so how long are you going to hide this?” Sarah sighed.
Chloe lowered her head sadly and said, “I'll hide it as long as I can. I just want him to live safely,”
Sarah sighed helplessly and said, “You silly girl… I don't know what to say to you. I can keep quiet for you, but it might be difficult for me to help him through my connections. Grandfather suddenly fell ill, and he’s still unconscious! My family in Novaria is also in a difficult situation,”
“What? Your grandfather is sick? Why did I hear about this?” Chloe was surprised.
“It happened just a few days ago. Grandfather suddenly fell ill and went comatose. Uncle asked me to keep it a secret, and he’s now quietly looking for medical help for him. Many famous doctors have come, but nobody can wake him up so far,” Sarah explained when suddenly, there was a commotion in the living room.
“Who are you, and what’re you doing sneaking around here? Who let you in?” A suited young man suit appeared behind Ethan, eyeing him up and down as he arrogantly asked.
“And who might you be?” Ethan retorted, glancing around indifferently. He was annoyed with this young man’s questioning.
“What’s your problem, James? He's my friend. Don't make trouble as soon as you come back!” Sarah interrupted, walking out of the kitchen and scolding the young man.
