Chapter 524 Neil
Neil hit grandmaster status like, two decades ago, but even after all that time hiding out, he still couldn't crack the Golden Core Stage. Just goes to show how tough it is to level up.
"Hey Raymond, since I'm here at Celestia Vale, mind if I take a look around?" Ethan suddenly switched gears and asked.
He needed some time to process all the stuff Raymond had told him, but now that he was finally in Celestia Vale, he had to check out the spot Angel mentioned.
"Sure thing, man. Celestia Vale and the ZF Guild are tight. You can crash in the main building tonight, and tomorrow morning, I'll have someone show you around," Raymond said, catching Ethan off guard with how chill he was about it.
There weren't any beds in the main building. Honestly, at Raymond's level, he didn't even need one. Ethan spent the night in Raymond's wooden crib.
Next morning, Raymond was up first and nudged Ethan out of his meditative state.
"The guide should be here by now. If you wanna explore Celestia Vale, let him tag along," Raymond said with a grin.
Ethan's curiosity piqued, and he jumped up, heading for the door. When he swung it open, there was Trevor, just chilling on a wooden chair in the yard, staring at him.
"When'd you get back?" Ethan raised an eyebrow at Trevor.
"Got Raymond's message last night and hustled back," Trevor said, cool as a cucumber.
"Wow, you actually left Beverly to come back," Ethan joked with a smirk.
Raymond stepped out of the main building then and told Trevor, "Show Ethan around Celestia Vale, then head out together. No need to come back to me."
"Got it." Trevor nodded, all respectful.
"Alright, let's roll. With you as my tour guide, I can soak in all the sights of Celestia Vale." Ethan shot a glance at Raymond, gave Trevor a friendly pat on the arm, and led the way out of the yard.
Watching them leave, Raymond let out a deep sigh and muttered, "Big changes are coming, and you might just be the wild card."
Ethan was still mulling over how to get to the place Angel had mentioned. As they walked out of the woods with Trevor leading the way, he asked, "What's that peak to the north?"
"The north? You mean Serenity Peak?" Trevor looked surprised and glanced at the massive peak to the north.
"Yeah, it looks bigger and taller than the others. What's the deal with it?" Ethan asked, trying to sound casual. Angel had said her physical body seemed to be deep within that peak.
"Serenity Peak is where the heads of Celestia Vale have always lived. The current head is in seclusion there, and the base is locked down tight. You can't get up there. If you're thinking about it, forget it," Trevor warned Ethan, giving him a weird look.
He hadn't expected Ethan to be curious about the head's place, and his expression turned a bit odd.
"Neil's place? Yeah, I'm pretty curious about him," Ethan said, raising an eyebrow. He'd hoped to scope out Serenity Peak to find Angel's physical body, but now he was stumped on how to get there.
If Angel's body had been stashed there for years, it must've been during the ZF Guild's time. The folks at Celestia Vale probably had no clue. The real question was whether Neil knew the secret.
"Looks like I can't find your body just yet," Ethan mentally communicated with Angel.
"As long as we know it's here, you can grab it when you're strong enough. No rush," Angel replied, surprisingly chill.
"I thought you'd be pushing me to find a way to swipe your body," Ethan said, caught off guard.
"No need. I can sense my body's in good shape. If it leaves here and my soul can't get back to it fast, it'll mess it up. There's a seal in the peak keeping it safe," Angel explained seriously.
"Got it. So, we have the Sacred Wood and your body. When I'm strong enough, I'll help you get back to it. Since you're not in a hurry, let's bounce," Ethan sighed in relief and decided to leave Celestia Vale.
After checking out a few peaks with Trevor, Ethan asked to head out.
"Leaving already?" Trevor looked surprised. He'd only shown Ethan the scenery, not the important spots.
"We can come back. It's not like this is our only shot," Ethan said calmly.
"Alright, let's roll," Trevor nodded and led Ethan to the base of a mountain, opened a spatial passage, and took him back to the desert.
"Raymond didn't just call you back to be my tour guide, did he?" Ethan asked with a grin, looking at the endless desert around the stone mountain.
"Raymond gave me some tasks," Trevor said, clearly not wanting to spill the details.
"I'm starting to think you're a spy Raymond planted on me," Ethan joked.
Trevor frowned, not amused by Ethan's joke.
"Just kidding. My car's parked by the road. Let's head back together," Ethan patted Trevor's shoulder and led the way to the base of the stone mountain.
This desert trip was supposed to be about finding Angel's body. Unexpectedly, he also got into Celestia Vale, confirmed the body's location, and learned a ton about the past.
As Ethan drove back with Trevor, he mulled over everything Raymond had told him the night before. He really wanted to have a deep chat with Francis, but first, he needed to confirm his suspicions with Jessie.
That night, Ethan drove back to Novaria. When he got home, he found Chloe and the others weren't sleeping but were meditating.
Since becoming martial artists, Chloe and the crew had taken meditation as their go-to rest, trying to catch up with Ethan. He was naturally stoked about this.
