Chapter 233 The Salvador Family's Past
Jim's words forced Caspar, who already had suspicions, to face reality.
"Gino, are you here today for Ethan or us?" Caspar, with a complex expression, stared intently at Gino, his voice trembling.
"Mom, we need to confirm this person's identity. We can't be sure if he's Uncle Gino."
Kenny supported Caspar. Even though Kenny knew that his mother wouldn't be mistaken, he couldn't accept that his uncle, Jim, would stand against them on Ethan's side.
In that case, Kenny would rather not have such an uncle.
"Shut up! Do you think I can't recognize my own brother? He is your uncle, and no matter what, you must respect him!" Upon hearing this, Caspar suddenly became agitated and slapped Kenny.
Kenny's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at his mother, not understanding why he was slapped. This was the first time in his life that Caspar had hit him!
"Why are you doing this?" Gino looked at the scene with a helpless expression.
"Gino, we haven't seen each other for thirty years. Can you tell me why?" Caspar turned to him, her face pale as she asked.
"Why are you so fixated on the outcome? Perhaps, the answer isn't something you can accept. If possible, I wish we never had to meet again!" Gino slowly shook his head.
"What happened when you suddenly disappeared back then?" Caspar asked persistently.
"Don't ask. I won't tell! Kenny is right; consider me as if I don't exist anymore!" Gino remained silent, clearly not wanting Caspar to know about the past.
"Is it that you don't want to say, or you don't dare to say?" Jim suddenly let out a cold laugh.
"Jim, what do you mean by that? Do you know something?" Caspar turned to Jim, asking excitedly.
"Thirty years ago, Gino chose to leave the Salvador family, breaking our father's heart! I know you were closest to him, and our father knew that, too. That's why we never told you the truth, fearing it would hurt you, fearing you couldn't accept it!" Jim explained calmly.
"Gino, is what Jim said true?" Caspar looked at Gino in disbelief.
"Just consider what he said as true. I have nothing to do with the Salvador family now." Gino nodded noncommittally.
"So, you disappeared for thirty years and reappeared as our enemy? Do you know what Ethan did to Kenny and the Ashford family?" Caspar couldn't accept that Gino would appear before her in such a manner. Even if Gino hadn't said it, she would have found out the truth about what had happened back then.
"I know! That's why I'm helping you. You can't touch Ethan!" Gino's tone was indisputable.
"Why? Are you determined to help him? Are you willing to fight me and Kenny for him?" Caspar asked Gino in disappointment.
"If that's how you want to understand it, then yes. Even if I die, he cannot die!" Gino's face was full of determination as if he was ready to sacrifice himself for Ethan at any moment!
But this resoluteness struck Caspar like a bolt of lightning, leaving her stunned!
"Mom, can't you see? He's no longer the big brother you remember! He's now our enemy!" Kenny reminded Caspar again.
But Caspar seemed to be frozen, showing no reaction.
"Dad, let me ask you, since you chose to leave, why did you come back? Are you here to be an enemy of the Salvador family?" Jim asked Gino directly.
"Think whatever you want. I don't want to see anyone from the Salvador family. If it weren't for Ethan, I wouldn't be here. If you insist on going after him, then so be it, even if it means becoming enemies with the Salvador family." Facing Jim, Gino's attitude completely changed, as if he were confronting a mortal enemy.
"Well, I see! In that case, I know what to tell Dad! As for how long Ethan can live, I don't care. Take care of yourself!" Jim let out a cold laugh and turned to walk out.
"Uncle Jim, are you leaving already?" Kenny was taken aback that Jim would leave so abruptly after Gino's appearance. He had hoped Jim would help him get revenge today!
"What difference does it make if I stay? With him here, you can't kill Ethan, and neither can I! Unless I can kill him first! But I need to go back and ask my dad first!" Jim left decisively, disappearing from Kenny's sight as soon as he finished speaking.
Kenny's eyes were red as he stared at Gino, full of unwillingness.
He hadn't expected another troublemaker to show up. He thought, 'Could it be that Ethan comes here fearlessly because he relies on Gino? Ignatius said Gino is also a half-step master-level expert, so I am no match for him!'
"Let's go!" Caspar gave Gino a deep look, then turned and left as if she had lost her soul.
"Ethan, consider yourself lucky today. I want to see how long you can keep hiding!" Kenny snorted angrily and turned to leave, full of unwillingness.
How could he possibly kill Ethan on his own?
"Why did you suddenly come? You never told me you had such a connection with the Salvador family!" After Kenny left, Ethan looked at Gino curiously and asked.
"What, you didn't call him?" Sarah asked in surprise.
Ethan just shook his head, his eyes still fixed on Gino, clearly waiting for an answer.
"Ethan, why make things difficult for me? The Salvador family wants to go after you; even if I wanted to hide, I couldn't!" Gino shook his head and smiled bitterly.
"Ethan, who is he? I didn't know you had a teacher," Alice asked curiously.
"There are a lot of things you don't know. I'll explain it to you later." Ethan rolled his eyes helplessly.
"Since you are fine, I'll be leaving now! The Salvador family shouldn't bother you for a while. Just be careful of the Ashford family." Gino was about to take his leave.
"Since you're here, why rush to leave?" As soon as the words fell, Dorian and Ignatius appeared in everyone's sight.
"I haven't even greeted you yet!" Dorian stared intently at Gino.
"Dorian, you finally decided to show up?" Ethan's eyes lit up when he saw Dorian.
"Who do you think you are? Do I need to show up for you?" Dorian glanced at Ethan and snorted coldly.
"Dorian, those words hurt my feelings. I came here specifically to discuss business with you today! And don't worry, Phoenix has returned to Misty Ridge; he won't interfere in our matters anymore!" Ethan smiled nonchalantly.
"Are you crazy! Why would you tell him that? Are you afraid he won't kill you?" Sarah's heart tightened, and she pulled Ethan aside to remind him.
"What are you afraid of? If the Ashford family really wants to kill me, they'll do it even if Phoenix is here!" Ethan grinned broadly at Dorian.
