Chapter42 The Night Away
Greg fell silent for a moment before sighing. “As long as Madam doesn’t ask me, then I don’t have to say a word. However, I don’t want today’s event to repeat. You shouldn't have brought someone from the Wilsons here!”
Hearing this, Chloe sighed in relief, but her expression changed once again.
She spoke resolutely, “He's injured now and may still be pursued. Can't he stay for a few days? Greg, I know what you're thinking, but he has helped me twice before. The previous incident might’ve offset your debt, but there's still one more. I must repay him!”
Ethan laughed and reminded, “Jayden, please stop speaking nonsense. We're at her house right now, so don’t let anyone hear us!”
“Well, I do Miss Miller is quite suitable for you!” Jayden smiled and helped Ethan apply medicine, his tone serious.
In fact, Greg's appearance made him realize that Chloe wasn’t simple. Right now, he obviously wanted to find someone who could help Ethan. Furthermore, he could also see that Chloe had developed feelings for Ethan. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have bravely protected him and risked everything to force Greg out just now!
Ethan didn't expect Jayden to continue talking. Frowning, he was about to say something when there was a knock on the door.
Immediately after, Chloe walked in.
She worriedly asked, “Ethan, are your injuries serious? Should I call a doctor to come check on you?”
With his complexion seemingly normal again, Ethan smiled calmly to Chloe as he replied, “I'm fine, Jayden just helped treat it for me. How could it be serious? I’ll be fine after a few days!”
“Good, then just stay here for those few days. I'll go prepare dinner for you,” she said and turned to leave.
However, Ethan clearly sensed something unusual from her last gaze.
“Sir, I feel like something's off with Miss Miller. Her emotions don't seem quite right!” Jayden whispered, noticing her strangeness as well.
Ethan's heart stirred. Why was she so hesitant and helpless?
He suddenly ordered, “Jayden, let’s leave quietly tonight. Prepare yourself, and make sure Chloe doesn't suspect anything!”
“Leave tonight? “Jayden was startled.
“No matter who she is, we have no reason to burden her. She has already helped us once before! If we directly tell her that we're leaving, she wouldn't agree. Therefore, we have to go quietly,” Ethan explained, his tone leaving no room for doubt as he had made his decision.
Jayden fell silent.
“What? Do you have something else to say?” Ethan raised an eyebrow and asked.
“Sir, I have a villa here in Novaria. If you really plan on leaving, perhaps we can go there temporarily,” Jayden hesitated for a moment before explaining.
“You’ve truly thought ahead, Jayden!” Ethan laughed immediately upon hearing Jayden's words.
It seems Jayden was also prepared for this outcome!
During dinner, Chloe appeared to be deep in thought while occasionally talking with Ethan.
Greg was nowhere to be seen, creating a somewhat abnormal atmosphere.
Ethan and Jayden exchanged glances, finalizing their decision to leave tonight.
After returning to the room, Ethan wrote a letter and placed it on the bedside. After all, he needed to inform Chloe why he was leaving without saying goodbye.
Later that night, when Chloe had turned off the lights in her room and gone to bed, they both quietly left the house and got into a waiting car by the roadside.
On the villa’s rooftop, Greg stood in the dark as he watched them getting into the car. There was slight helplessness in his eyes, “It's better this way...“
An hour later, the car dropped the two off at a villa area near Breeze Resort.
Once they got out, Jayden led Ethan into the area and casually said, “Wealthy people bought most of the villas here for vacation purposes. Normally, there’s only security guards here, and not many people. It's safer for us.“
“You always think things through!” Ethan nodded approvingly.
Jayden’s villa was located near a man-made lake beside Breeze Mountain, and it had quite a nice view.
Just as they settled in, Jayden made a bowl of instant noodles for Ethan and brought it to his room.
He weakly explained, “Sir, since we came here suddenly, we didn't have a chance to buy groceries. There's only some noodles in this place, so please bear with it for now,”
“Don't say that, Jayden. It's fine. Having a warm meal is enough for now, “ Ethan reassured.
He took the noodles, smiling as he continued, “Having a temporary place to settle down is already more than enough.”
“Sir, did you already expect this would happen? What’s your next step?” Jayden suddenly asked, changing the topic.
Ethan didn't plan to hide anything from Jayden regarding his arrangements, responding as he ate, “If Brady could frame me, then why can't I fight back?“
“So that means you do have some early preparations?” Jayden stared at Ethan intently and inquired.
