Chapter 368 The Head of the Wilson family
Jessie ignored Brady and turned to Ethan. "I didn't tell you your dad might still be alive because I wasn't sure. We need to dig up his grave and test the ashes."
Neither Ethan nor Jessie noticed Brady's eyes widen, though his expression stayed the same.
"If he's alive, why hasn't he shown up? Could he be imprisoned?" Ethan asked, shocked.
"That's what I'm asking Brady. If your dad's alive, either the assassins swapped bodies, or someone in the Wilson family did it!" Jessie said, staring at Brady to gauge his reaction.
"Are you suspecting me?" Brady asked, surprised.
"I need a clear answer," Jessie said calmly.
"No one in the Wilson family would do that, and no one would dare!" Brady assured.
"I hope so. Ethan and I will find out the truth. I hope it won't embarrass you," Jessie replied.
"I've answered your questions. Now, can you tell me if you'll return to the Wilson family?" Brady asked, changing the subject.
"I won't go back until we know the truth!" Ethan said coldly.
"No, we will go back," Jessie said, contradicting Ethan.
"Mom, why? We don't know if Dad is dead or alive, and some people can't be trusted!" Ethan asked, glaring at Brady.
"The Wilson family belongs to you and your dad. We're just going home. No matter the truth, your dad is the head of the family, and you're the heir!" Jessie said proudly.
"That's right. I've announced you're the sole heir, and that won't change. Whatever misunderstandings we've had are in the past," Brady said to Ethan.
"Easy for you to say. Do you remember how the Shadow Gang hunted me down? Wasn't that your order?" Ethan sneered.
"I was forced to and wanted you to admit your mistakes. If you had, you could've come back and continued as the heir. Why couldn't you see my good intentions?" Brady explained.
"Enough. No need to discuss this further. We won't leave the Wilson family. Since you publicly expelled Ethan, just declaring him the heir isn't enough now," Jessie interrupted.
"What more do you want?" Brady asked, frowning.
"Simple. Hand over the head of the family position to Ethan now, including control of Elmer's Shadow Gang," Jessie demanded.
Brady was speechless, clearly not expecting such a crucial demand.
"Ethan is still young. Isn't it too early for him to be the head of the family? His current standing in the family isn't strong enough. Even if I announce it, most members won't agree, and it could cause unrest," Brady tried to persuade.
"Ethan might be young, but he's the leader of the ZF Guild! Compared to that, the Wilson family is nothing. If he weren't part of the Wilson family, do you think he'd care about being the head? If you don't agree, forget about us coming back!" Jessie's assertiveness surprised Ethan, but he sensed she had other motives.
Brady fell silent, clearly struggling with Jessie's demand.
"If it's too hard for you, leave now. Let me know when you've made up your mind," Jessie said, issuing an ultimatum.
"Fine! I'll agree to your terms and announce Ethan as the head of the Wilson family. But if there's unrest, I'll try to handle it. If I can't, it's on you," Brady finally agreed.
"Of course. As the head, Ethan will make everyone obey. He's young, but I can advise him. And if things get tough, isn't there still you?" Jessie said with a victorious smile.
"Alright, when will you return to the Wilson family?" Brady asked.
"Once Ethan finishes his current matters, at most ten days. Arrange the succession ceremony for half a month from now," Jessie instructed.
"Alright. I'll be waiting for you," Brady nodded, then took a deep look at Ethan before leaving.
"Mom, what are you thinking? Becoming the head now is just asking for trouble. Brady's right; no one in the Wilson family will support me, at least not now," Ethan said after Brady left.
"Don't you have Beverly's family's support? Trust me, this is a step we must take quickly. Once you're the head, don't worry about other matters. I'll handle them with Beverly. Dashiell can also be an ally, and with me involved, we can control the situation," Jessie said earnestly.
"And what about me? Just hold the title and do nothing?" Ethan asked, frowning.
"You have important tasks. You must fully control the Shadow Gang and make Elmer completely obedient. He's already agreed with me. Once you're the head, Elmer can stand by your side," Jessie explained.
"So your goal is for me to control the Shadow Gang?" Ethan realized.
"Exactly. Use Elmer and the Shadow Gang to marginalize Brady. Once you reach master level, teaming up with Elmer to eliminate him will be more likely to succeed," Jessie said fiercely, startling Ethan.
"Don't you have things to do? Hurry up and don't delay! Once things are settled here, we'll go to Novaria and return to the Wilson family in half a month," Jessie urged.
"Alright, I'll go now. Let Chloe stay with you; I'll be back soon," Ethan said before leaving under Jessie's watchful eyes.
