Chapter 575 Just Have a Fight

Deep in the mountains by the Riverstone Reservoir, the Great Elder was making tracks, lugging Angela in one hand and Marco in the other.

Angela and Marco were out cold, not putting up any fight. A few moments later, he just tossed them into some grass. There was another dude there, Giuseppe, who'd been MIA for two days and was still knocked out.

"Ethan's got some chops, being at the early master level and all, and he even found the Monastery. Lucky for me, he left his crew by the reservoir, so I could snatch 'em up. Looks like I can use them to trade for the Sacred Wood with him," the Great Elder muttered, eyeing the three laid-out bodies. Turns out, when Ethan found the Monastery, the Great Elder was lurking nearby too.

Ethan was too focused on the Monastery to notice the Great Elder hanging around. He didn't use his spiritual sense to check the area, so the Great Elder stayed under the radar.

Knowing Brian and the gang were probably busted, the Great Elder decided to bail. But as he passed the reservoir, he overheard Angela and Marco griping about Ethan not being back yet.

Total fluke. If he hadn't stumbled upon Angela and Marco, he wouldn't have known Ethan had buddies waiting for him.

"I was gonna have to jump through some hoops, but now I've got two more bargaining chips. Sweet deal, I can trade with Ethan sooner," he muttered again, plopping down cross-legged on a big rock. He didn't seem too worried about Ethan showing up and was ready for a face-off.

About ten minutes later, Ethan showed up on the mountainside nearby. He glanced at Angela and the others but didn't rush to help them. He couldn't size up the Great Elder's strength and figured he might be the late master level guy Brian had mentioned.

"You're here," the Great Elder said, opening his eyes and fixing a sharp gaze on Ethan, calm as a cucumber.

"You've gone to a lot of trouble to mess with me. I'm flattered, but it's kinda overkill," Ethan said, squinting.

"Overkill? Nah. Just hand over the Sacred Wood, and you can take these three and bounce. No fuss," the Great Elder laid out his terms.

"Are you the Great Elder of the ML Guild?" Ethan asked.

"Looks like Brian filled you in. Yep, I'm Seth Bailey, the Great Elder of the ML Guild," Seth nodded, cool as ever.

"Do you know you're playing with fire?" Ethan warned, trying to keep his anger in check.

Seth's face twisted into a weird expression. He couldn't figure out where Ethan, with his early master level strength, got the nerve to talk to him like that.

He thought, 'Is it 'cause he's now the head honcho of the Wilson family and a master level expert? Doesn't he get the massive gap between master levels?'

"I ain't got time to chit-chat. Hand over the Sacred Wood now, and I'll bounce. I don't wanna mess with the Wilson family unless I gotta. You're just a kid, so I'm cutting you some slack," Seth stared at Ethan for a moment before giving him a slow, stern warning.

"And what if I don't?" Ethan sneered, not giving a damn.

"Then I'll off these three right in front of you. Trust me, you won't even get a chance to blink; they're toast," Seth said, oozing confidence.

"Alright, you've officially pissed me off." Ethan laughed angrily, nodding like he couldn't believe it.

"You got no choice unless you wanna watch them die right here," Seth sneered back.

Ethan might not give a rat's ass about Giuseppe, but if Giuseppe bit the dust, it would definitely cause him a headache. Plus, Angela and Marco were the whole reason he was here, so he clearly cared about them.

"I'll give you the Sacred Wood, but only if you can take it from me," Ethan said, pulling out the dark Sacred Wood like it was no big deal, taunting Seth with a smirk.

Seth felt the energy waves coming off the Sacred Wood, and his eyes lit up with greed.

"Are you serious?" Seth asked, trying to keep his excitement in check.

"I told you, this is all unnecessary. You could've just challenged me straight up. If you win, the Sacred Wood's yours. Why all the drama?" Ethan nodded, cool as a cucumber.

"In that case, I did go through a lot of pointless trouble. Let's see what the leader of the Wilson family is made of," Seth said, and in a flash, he vanished from the rock and appeared right in front of Ethan.

Speed-wise, he was way faster than Ethan, making Ethan's heart sink. But just as Seth was about to snatch the Sacred Wood, something unexpected happened.

Seth didn't plan to hurt Ethan; he was cautious too. His main goal was to grab the Sacred Wood, not to kill or injure Ethan. But at that moment, a powerful force erupted from Ethan, sending the unprepared Seth flying.

Looking up, Ethan had a slowly spinning golden Grail above his head, glowing faintly. The terrifying force was rippling out from this Grail.

"A defensive artifact," Seth's face twisted in shock as he recognized the Grail.

"I love that look on your face like you've never seen anything like this," Ethan sneered, then pointed at Angela and the others, saying, "Go!"

In the next moment, the Grail suddenly enlarged, flying over Angela and the others, enveloping them in a strong protective force.

Seth, who had been all grim, didn't expect Ethan to use the Grail to shield Angela and the others. While he was surprised, he also smiled coldly.
