Chapter 421 Laicization

Luckily, Jessie had already toughened up, but now she was stuck with Ethan—she couldn't control him, and she didn't want to!

Just hoped these girls wouldn't end up regretting being with Ethan!

"I'll deal with you later!"

Jessie shot Ethan a glare, then went back to the living room, grabbed Alice's hand, and started chatting.

Alice felt flattered, and her initial nerves melted away thanks to Jessie's warmth. Soon, they were laughing and talking like old friends.

Ethan sighed in relief. Jessie was cool, now he just had to wait for Chloe and the others to get back from work.

Actually, Chloe and the others were already on board.

Hannah had accepted Alice, so there shouldn't be any issues.

What Ethan didn't expect was a surprise guest before they even got home.

Ethan was blown away.

The visitor was his old rival Jesse, with whom he'd shared some tough times!

If it weren't for Jesse's unmistakable vibe, Ethan would've thought he was seeing things!

"Where's your monk's robe? When did monks start dressing so trendy?"

Ethan circled Jesse in the yard, noticing he was decked out in the latest fashion.

"I left the monastic life!" Jesse said seriously.

"Left the monastic life?" Ethan remembered Jesse mentioning it before but thought it was just talk. He didn't expect him to actually do it!

"Yep. First thing I did was come find you!" Jesse nodded.

"Raymond agreed to this?" Ethan didn't know much about Raymond, but since he was Phoenix's friend, he figured Raymond was a stickler for tradition. He couldn't believe Raymond let his star pupil leave the monastic life!

Jesse nodded like it was no big deal.

"Even if you left, why come to me first?" Ethan accepted Jesse's decision but was curious.

"You're my only friend! Besides you, I don't know who else to turn to!" Jesse said, scratching his bald head awkwardly.

"You were badly hurt before; are you fully recovered now?" Ethan found Jesse's explanation both funny and frustrating, but as long as he wasn't after the Sun and Moon Beads, it was fine.

"I'm all healed. But it seems Raymond paid a big price for it!" Jesse said, looking uneasy and guilty.

"Raymond's a grandmaster; he doesn't need you worrying about him. But does he know you came to find me?" Ethan patted Jesse's shoulder and asked.

"Raymond asked me, and I told him the truth. He didn't say much, just told me to follow my heart. But he did ask me to pass on a message to you," Jesse said, giving Ethan a strange look.

"What message?" Ethan asked.

"Raymond said to remind you that the bottle with the Asura Bloodhand needs to be returned once you're done with it!" Jesse said, looking curious. "I didn't expect Lloyd's bottle to end up with you! It's his most prized possession!"

"There are a lot of things you wouldn't expect. I still need the bottle for a while, so we'll talk about it later. It's just a small bottle; I don't even care about it. Only you guys from Celestia Vale treat it like a treasure," Ethan said dismissively.

"I don't know about that. Raymond just asked me to remind you; he didn't say anything else," Jesse shrugged.

"By the way, since you've left the monastic life, what's your secular name?" Ethan asked.

"In the secular world, I don't even know my original name. I've been with Raymond since I can remember and don't know my own background," Jesse said, shaking his head.

"Ethan, who's back?" Jessie walked to the villa's door, eyeing Jesse's bald head with a strange expression.

"Where did this little bald guy come from?" Jessie asked, surprised.

"This is no little bald guy. Let's go inside and talk! This is my mom, Jessie. Maybe my situation is a bit better than yours; at least I finally found my biological mom!" Ethan patted Jesse's shoulder and led him inside.

After Ethan briefly explained how he and Jesse met, Jessie felt emotional and sympathetic towards Jesse, who had no parents.

"So you were a monk for over twenty years. No wonder you've always kept a bald head!" Jessie nodded, looking like she wanted to say more but hesitated.

"I really envy you for reuniting with Ethan, but I'm used to this life. Even Raymond doesn't know about my parents; he picked me up from the snow. Now, even if I wanted to find them, there's no way to start," Jesse said with a bitter smile.

"Why don't you take my mom as your godmother? That way, you'd have a mom!" Ethan suggested on a whim.

Both Jessie and Jesse were stunned, and even Ethan was surprised by his own suggestion.

"I don't mind. I'd be thrilled to gain such a grown-up son!" Jessie quickly broke the awkwardness with a cheerful smile.

"So... I have a godmother now? I have a mom?" Jesse felt his mind spinning. He had never imagined having a relative, let alone parents.

"If you're willing, you can consider me your mom, and I'll treat you like my son!" Jessie confirmed with a smile.
