"Miss Alice, QU Group is also a leader in Seattle’s real estate industry. I wonder if we could establish a collaboration?” After exchanging pleasantries, Frank began probing Alice's attitude.
“Of course, I’ve heard of QU Group's position before coming here. I wouldn’t refuse a chance for a partnership,” Alice nodded with a smile, but Frank could tell it was just a perfunctory response.
Knowing the other party would unlikely give a clear answer immediately and that this wasn’t the place to discuss business matters, Frank still received a relatively satisfactory answer.
At the very least, Alice didn't reject him!
Frank further tested her reaction, “Of course. QU Group has always sincerely wanted to cooperate with your company. Especially so with this tourism project, I hope Miss Alice could give me a chance for a private conversation. What do you think?”
Alice shrugged, giving Frank a helpless expression, “I'm quite busy lately, and we already have our partner, Shine Group, for this project. You should be aware of that!”
Frank's heart tightened, but he remained calm and said, “I understand that Miss Alice is in a difficult position. However, I genuinely want to be your friend. Please consider my suggestion!”
Even so, he couldn't easily give up.
“Alright, then I’ll arrange another meeting with you if I have time.” she nodded without revealing her true thoughts. She was clearly just responding to send him away.
At that moment, Ethan, who had been watching coldly, suddenly walked toward Frank while cheerfully greeting him.
“Sir, would you care for a drink?” Ethan called a nearby waiter and took two red wine-filled glasses, handing one of them to Frank.
Seeing this, Alice directly walked away, “Excuse me!”
Frank was annoyed, but he calmly accepted the wine while replying, “Mr. Wilson really has some strategy. As far as I know, Shine Group and RP Investments has no connections with each other. Rather, it is...”
“In Cloud Group’s previous overseas projects, this investment company’s presence was evident. It seems that Mr. Wilson is sparing no effort to help Shine Group!”
Ethan responded immediately, smiling while shaking his head, “Oh, you flatter me. With you around, I can only be considered a newcomer in the workplace.”
Frank replied disapprovingly, “It's good to be humble, but overdoing it is just being hypocritical.”
Those around watched and listened to their conversation, catching a whiff of tension in the air.
Most of them were observing the situation, not showing excessive enthusiasm toward either side when both individuals were present.
Ethan leaned toward Frank, lowering his voice as he said, “But there's something I've kept in my heart for a long time, and I've always wanted to tell you. Now, I finally have the chance!”
“Oh? What is it?” Frank narrowed his eyes instantly.
Ignoring those who were eavesdropping, Ethan leaned over and whispered, “If you can't survive, just tell me directly. I'm a person who respects the elderly, and getting leftovers isn't something embarrassing. However, snatching from others isn't right! It isn’t easy to take advantage of Shine Group. I’ll make you return everything, including the interest!”
Frank's face suddenly darkened, the stubble on his chin trembling from his anger.
He had anticipated Ethan was arrogant, but he didn't expect him to be so brazen, threatening him so openly!
Moreover, he used such insulting and provocative language.
The area near them immediately fell into a strange atmosphere, giving everyone who was paying attention to them a growing sense of coldness.
Just as more people noticed the commotion, Louis immediately walked over suspiciously. He stared at Ethan and asked Frank, “Dad, what's the matter?”
Frank took a deep breath, suppressing his anger from exploding.
“Why are you so nervous, Mr. Louis? I was just discussing some life principles with this gentleman!”
Ethan laughed out loud, patting Louis on the shoulder as he winked at Frank.
With his face turning sour, Frank coldly sorted, “Mr. Wilson truly surprised me. It seems that he doesn't hold us old folks in high regard?”
Ethan narrowed his eyes and shook his head, “I’m doing nothing more than showing off in front of you!”
Frank said indifferently, “Then, let me give you a piece of advice. Young people should understand the principle of bending instead of breaking. Thank you for your hospitality, but I have other matters to deal with. Goodbye!”
Amidst everyone’s surprised looks, he turned and walked out of the banquet hall.
Louis looked at Ethan with uncertainty, then turned his gaze to Frank.
He hurriedly followed behind Frank, not wanting to be left behind.
“Don't bother seeing us off!”
Ethan looked at the father and son's backs with a playful look.
For a moment, nobody else knew what just happened. They started whispering to each other, their looks toward Ethan growing astonished.
“Are you satisfied now?”
At this moment, Sarah appeared beside Ethan, holding Mia's hand. She raised an eyebrow as she looked at the exit where Frank and Louis had left.
“Anger easily makes people lose their rationality, making them forget the importance in thinking!”
Ethan glanced at Sarah, shrugging evasively as he smiled.
Soon, the reception ended in an eerie atmosphere. None of the attendees wanted to stay any longer, all preoccupied while thinking of Sun Lake. They left almost in a hurry.
Before leaving, Alice spent about five minutes in Ethan's room before walking out again, escorted by several bodyguards as she left the hotel.
However, as her convoy started, a black Mercedes followed closely behind.
The driver quickly noticed something amiss and alerted her, “Miss Alice, there's a car following us from behind!”
“Ignore it. Just go straight to the villa!”
Alice smiled calmly, as if she had already expected this. She took out her phone and messaged Ethan.
On the other hand, Ethan smiled when he received and read the message.
