Chapter 600 Seeing Patricia Again
"Scared now?" Bonnie smirked at Kimberly, who looked like she'd seen a ghost. Kimberly was fuming but kept her mouth shut. She just shot Bonnie a death glare before looking down.
"Alright, everyone, get back to what you were doing," Ethan said, cool as a cucumber. Kimberly felt a wave of relief wash over her when she realized Ethan wasn't mad at her. She quickly led a few disciples back inside.
"Is Patricia the third master of the Ladies Guild?" Ethan suddenly asked Bonnie. He knew Patricia but had no clue about her rank. He'd heard she was with the Ladies Guild and figured she was some elder. Master? That was news to him.
"You didn't know?" Bonnie looked at Ethan, genuinely surprised.
"I never got the chance to ask. When I met her, I didn't even know she was with the Ladies Guild," Ethan said, scratching his nose, a bit embarrassed.
"Yeah, Patricia's the third master. The Ladies Guild doesn't have elders like the ML Guild. There are nine masters, and Patricia's number three. The rest are just disciples under them," Bonnie explained, nodding as she pieced things together. She guessed Ethan and Patricia weren't that close, maybe they'd only met a couple of times. That thought bummed her out a bit.
"Got it." Ethan nodded.
"So, how'd you meet Patricia?" Bonnie asked, curious.
"I just came from Everglow," Ethan said, keeping it simple.
"So you met in Everglow a few days ago?" Bonnie's eyes went wide.
"Why don't you ask Patricia yourself if you're so curious?" Ethan shot back.
"I was just making conversation. If you don't wanna talk about it, fine," Bonnie said, feeling a bit guilty.
"Mr. Wilson, what brings you to the Ladies Guild?" A woman's voice suddenly cut in. Patricia appeared next to Ethan as if by magic.
"Patricia, you're back!" Bonnie ran up to her, all smiles.
"You're always so impulsive. Aren't you worried people will laugh at you?" Patricia scolded Bonnie, but her eyes were full of affection. Clearly, she was fond of Bonnie.
"Long time no see. How've you been?" Ethan greeted Patricia with a smile.
"I thought you'd say 'absence makes the heart grow fonder,' but I guess that was just wishful thinking. Given my old age, it's not worth you coming all the way here," Patricia said with a charming smile.
Bonnie was stunned that Patricia would say something so flirty to Ethan.
"You've got a real sense of humor. Today's run-in was pure chance. I bumped into your disciple and found out you're the third master of the Ladies Guild, so I thought I'd drop by and say hi," Ethan explained with a grin.
"What happened?" Patricia immediately turned to Bonnie, suspicion in her eyes.
Bonnie didn't dare to hide anything and quickly recapped how Margare got mistakenly captured by the ML Guild and how Ethan saved them tonight.
"Ridiculous! If it weren't for Mr. Wilson, you and Margare would be dead. Do you really think the ML Guild is full of saints?" Patricia's face darkened as she scolded Bonnie.
Ethan thought to himself, 'You don't seem like a saint either. Have you forgotten how you and eight others ganged up on me?' But he kept that to himself. Saying it out loud would just make things awkward.
"I know I messed up, but Margare was detained by the ML Guild, and I couldn't just sit around. I knew you were busy with important stuff in Everglow, so I didn't want to bother you and went alone," Bonnie explained, looking all kinds of wronged.
"So you thought you could just waltz into the ML Guild with your Half-Step Grandmaster skills?" Patricia rolled her eyes and then sighed, seeing Bonnie's pitiful look.
"I know I was wrong," Bonnie admitted again. "Alright, stop making a fool of yourself," Patricia snorted.
Bonnie let out a sigh of relief and shot Ethan a resentful glance, as if to say, 'Why didn't you stick up for me?' Ethan just turned his head, pretending not to notice Bonnie's look, and focused on Patricia.
"Sorry, Mr. Wilson, for the trouble Bonnie caused you. Thanks for your help today; I owe you one," Patricia said, catching Ethan's eye and smiling.
"We're friends now after that initial clash. If you really see me as a friend, there's no need for thanks. It was just a small favor." Ethan waved it off, trying to be magnanimous.
"You consider me a friend? I'm flattered. But coming to the Ladies Guild with Bonnie late at night, I doubt it's just to say hello, right?" Patricia's eyes sparkled with a knowing smile.
Ethan wasn't fazed by her seeing through him. He shrugged and said, "I did come to say hello, but you probably know why I'm really here."
Patricia's smile faded, replaced by a serious look. "You want to take action against the ML Guild?" After a moment of silence, Patricia asked slowly.
"If I said I could easily wipe out the ML Guild tonight, would you believe me?" Ethan asked, dropping a bombshell.
Patricia's eyebrows knitted together, and Bonnie's eyes went wide with shock. Bonnie clearly hadn't expected Ethan to be thinking about taking down the ML Guild.
