Chapter 431 Establishing Prestige

Billy's mouth snapped shut, feeling suddenly helpless.

"Angela, why'd you have to provoke them?" Billy asked, clearly frustrated.

"How was I supposed to know he'd flip out like that?" Angela replied, just as confused.

Whether that soldier would be okay was one thing, but Ethan's actions could land him in a military court if he were still active duty.

But what could they do about Ethan?

Soon, two soldiers carried back the injured one.

"Anyone else think I'm a rookie?" Ethan squatted down, looking at the soldier, then scanned the crowd, his voice calm but clear.

Everyone exchanged uneasy glances. After seeing Ethan's outburst and his insane combat skills, no one dared to challenge him.

Ethan placed a hand on the soldier's chest, sending a surge of energy that quickly healed most of the injuries.

"Stop playing dead. Get up!" Ethan said, standing up.

The soldier's face relaxed, and with a mix of confusion and fear, he stood up, trembling.

"Now tell them, who am I?" Ethan asked the soldier.

"The chief instructor!" the soldier shouted, not daring to defy him.

"Honestly, I don't care about teaching you. Even if all two thousand of you came at me, you wouldn't stand a chance. It's laughable that you even try to challenge me!" Ethan scolded.

Everyone fell silent, feeling Ethan's overwhelming presence.

This aura wasn't about his size; it was a powerful vibe coming from Ethan himself.

If anyone else had said this, the soldiers might have rushed them. But with Ethan, it felt natural, and no one even thought of resisting.

"Get back in line!" Ethan ordered, satisfied with the effect. The soldier quickly returned to his spot.

"I don't care what you think of me. Here, you're all weak, and I'm your sovereign. If anyone disagrees, step forward now!" Ethan shouted, ignoring Angela and Billy's surprise.

The scene stayed silent, the air almost solid.

"No one objects? Now tell me, who am I?" Ethan asked with a smile, seeing no one dared to step forward.

When Ethan's aura suddenly vanished, the soldiers felt disoriented, wondering if they'd imagined it all. But the lingering pressure kept them from testing it.

"The chief instructor!" a hesitant voice called out, barely audible among the two thousand soldiers.

"Excuse me? What did I just say?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.

"Sovereign?"

"Exactly! When I'm here, I'm your sovereign! You might not want to listen or fear me, but I'll teach you how to do both, just like I taught that soldier!" Ethan pointed to the soldier he'd kicked earlier, smiling.

"Got it?" Billy roared.

"Got it!" the soldiers shouted back, this time with real energy.

"Who is he to you?" Billy pointed at Ethan.

"Our sovereign!" they shouted in unison.

"Mr. Wilson, is this enough? Can we get to the main topic now?" Billy asked, relieved.

Ethan, enjoying the moment, felt his mood drop with Billy's interruption. Bored, he walked toward the nearby lawn.

"Mr. Wilson, where are you going?" Billy called out, confused.

"If you don't want to get kicked out, come catch me! I'll be on this lawn. You don't even have to knock me down—just touch my clothes, and you pass!" Ethan shouted from about ten yards away.

Billy seemed to get what Ethan was up to, but seeing the soldiers still frozen, he roared, "What are you waiting for? Do you all want to pack up and leave?"

The soldiers snapped out of it and rushed at Ethan like a tidal wave.

Angela and Billy then witnessed something incredible: one man against two thousand.

It was a scene they'd never seen before, likely a first in military history.

Of course, this didn't mean Ethan was invincible. Half-Step Grandmasters wouldn't waste their skills on ordinary soldiers. But knowing that, the scene still left a strong impression on Angela and Billy.

Within a fifteen-foot radius around Ethan, it was like a vacuum. He was the eye of the storm, and everyone he passed was bounced away, without anyone seeing how he did it.

In just a few minutes, the two thousand elite soldiers who had been standing neatly on the training ground were all lying on the ground, unable to stand.
