Chapter 669 Winford's Purpose
Starlight Peak was in the western suburbs of Everglow City. Ethan was filled with overwhelming rage on his way there, wishing he could tear Winford to pieces!
But he knew he had to stay calm because Cynthia and Lorenzo were still in Winford's hands!
However, when Ethan found the place, he was stunned!
He hadn't expected Winford to be an unremarkable young man, and he was alone!
But Ethan couldn't gauge Winford's depth at all; he seemed like an ordinary person.
Ethan knew very well that the more someone appeared to be hiding their true abilities, the more dangerous they were!
Cynthia and Lorenzo were trapped in a light shield nearby, cursing at Winford, but it was clear that the shield had some sort of restriction, as no sound could be heard from inside!
Ethan's appearance immediately caught the attention of all three.
Cynthia and Lorenzo looked extremely worried, their mouths open as they shouted at Ethan, but still, no sound came out.
"You're quite fast!" Winford smiled at Ethan with satisfaction.
"You caused such a commotion, not just to have me come here and talk nonsense, right?" Ethan squinted his eyes and asked directly.
"Of course, as long as you hand over the Requiem Tower, they can leave with you!" Winford nodded in agreement.
"Requiem Tower?" Ethan's face changed instantly upon hearing this!
He had guessed that Winford might be from a hidden sect and was likely after the Sacred Wood and Orla, but he hadn't expected Winford to ask for the Requiem Tower right away!
Moreover, the matter of the Requiem Tower was known only to a few people who had entered the SA Guild. Even those who had seen the Requiem Tower didn't know its origin.
Winford's direct request for the Requiem Tower was very clear in its purpose, which was even more surprising!
"Are you from another race?" Ethan quickly had a bold guess, making his face even more grim.
"You're smart. I don't belong to this world. Calling me from another race isn't wrong!" Winford replied with a nonchalant smile.
"What do you want the Requiem Tower for?" Ethan asked suspiciously.
"What do you think? Maeve is still trapped inside, right?" Winford responded with a question instead of an answer.
"What else do you know?" Ethan's face changed completely!
"I know more than you do, and I have a way to get Maeve out of the Requiem Tower!" Winford explained seriously.
"What exactly is your goal?" Ethan asked with a frown.
"You're asking too many questions. I don't have much time to answer them. Either you hand over the Requiem Tower now, or I'll take it from you directly!" Winford reminded with a smile.
"The Requiem Tower has already recognized me as its master, and if you want to take it, it depends on whether it agrees!" Ethan reminded with a grim face.
"I know, the Requiem Tower is now in your Sea of Qi. Do you think that because Maeve favors you, I can't get the Requiem Tower?" Winford chuckled lightly, then slowly raised a hand towards Ethan, closed his eyes, and began muttering some obscure and unpleasant incantations.
At first, Ethan was just suspicious and didn't act rashly, wanting to see what Winford was doing before figuring out how to respond.
But soon, Ethan realized his thoughts were too optimistic, even absurd!
Because the Requiem Tower in his Sea of Qi started to tremble and uncontrollably left his Sea of Qi and body, appearing above his head.
Almost the moment the Requiem Tower left his body, Ethan felt his connection with it break!
No matter how much he tried to infuse his consciousness into the Requiem Tower, there was no response!
"Maeve!"
Seeing the Requiem Tower slowly floating towards Winford, Ethan couldn't help but shout.
With the Requiem Tower out of his control, he could only hope that Maeve inside could still resist Winford!
Almost as soon as Ethan shouted, a powerful force of consciousness burst out from the Requiem Tower, transforming into swords that shot towards Winford!
"Such a hassle!" Winford sighed lightly, and a golden orb suddenly appeared in his palm.
The golden orb spun and floated above Winford's head, and the golden shield it projected blocked all the swords formed by the force of consciousness!
"It blocked it!" Ethan's pupils shrank suddenly, not expecting Winford to be so powerful that he could even block Maeve's direct attack!
What exactly was Winford's strength?
"Such a disobedient tower spirit is not worth keeping!" Winford snorted coldly, and the golden orb spun, causing the swords to dissipate. The Requiem Tower buzzed and began to grow larger.
It grew until it was as large as the tower Ethan had seen in the SA Guild, then stopped.
Winford shouted, and two spells shot from his hands, striking the massive tower.
The Requiem Tower began to tremble violently, and Ethan could hear Maeve's painful screams from inside.
"Bastard, what are you doing?" Ethan shouted angrily at Winford.
But as soon as he spoke, a powerful force of consciousness surged towards him, and he froze, his mind going blank!
"Don't blame me. It's time to reclaim the Requiem Tower, and I need to take it back."
Winford sighed as he looked at Ethan, who seemed to have turned to stone.
He then gestured towards the Requiem Tower, and the massive tower shrank and disappeared, landing in his palm.
"The timing is right, and this is your opportunity. Settle this score with him later, but don't blame me!" Winford muttered, then took out a white pill and placed it in Ethan's mouth.
After doing all this, Winford glanced at Cynthia and Lorenzo, who were still anxious in the light shield, and smiled, waving at them as if greeting.
Then, Winford threw Cynthia and Lorenzo's phones onto the grass outside the light shield.
Before Cynthia and Lorenzo could understand what was happening, Winford blurred and disappeared!
Ethan, still standing, suddenly collapsed to the ground.
Cynthia and Lorenzo's faces changed, but they suddenly found that the light shield trapping them had disappeared!
Ignoring their surprise, they picked up their phones and ran towards Ethan!
When Ethan woke up again, he found himself lying in Angela's room, with Angela and her family anxiously waiting nearby.
