Chapter 272 Deadline

After leaving Fragrant Garden, Ethan first took Remington back to the military family area and then received a call from an unknown number.

However, when he answered the phone and heard the voice on the other end, he was momentarily stunned.

The caller was none other than his future father-in-law, Munro.

"Ethan, do you have some time now? I want to talk to you!" Munro asked somewhat hesitantly.

Ethan could easily imagine that Cherry was right next to Munro at that moment. If it weren't for her, Munro wouldn't have made this call.

Last night, Ethan had already reached an understanding with Munro about what needed to be discussed. So, if Munro was seeking a private meeting today, Ethan was sure it was Cherry's idea.

"I am free right now. Just tell me the place, and I'll be there!" Without much thought, Ethan agreed immediately. He also wanted to know what his future in-laws wished to discuss with him.

In an empty room, Jessie sat alone on the edge of the bed. The table was set with food, and she looked even more worn and haggard.

The iron door was pushed open, and Dorian's figure appeared in Jessie's line of sight.

He had tormented her for three whole years. She still remembered that three years ago, when Brady decided to send Ethan to Novaria to fend for himself, she returned to the Wilson Family.

However, she hadn't even had a chance to see Ethan before Dorian kidnapped her!

"I've given you enough time to think. I have no patience left. Today, I need an answer. Will you help me or not?" Dorian squinted his eyes and threatened in a deep voice.

Jessie didn't even glance at Dorian. She replied expressionlessly, "I've told you I can't help you find what you're looking for. Over the past three years, I've conducted countless experiments, and even Roy, whom you brought in, can attest to that. Hasn't he told you anything?"

"But I think you haven't been trying your best. You've been stalling me. Do you really think I can't see through you? Roy may not be as good as you, but he's not an idiot. He knows exactly what those experiments were about. You'd better not test my patience!" Dorian warned indifferently.

"If you don't believe me, then just kill me," Jessie said coldly with a desperate expression.

"You think I don't dare to kill you?" Dorian's fist slowly clenched.

"No, come on. I should have been freed three years ago!" Jessie slowly closed her eyes.

Dorian suddenly burst into laughter. "You want to die, but I won't let you. Do you really think death will free you? Don't forget you have Ethan!"

"Dorian, I warn you that if you have any issues, come at me. If you dare to hurt Ethan, I won't let you go, even in death!" Hearing this, Jessie suddenly went mad, lunging at Dorian.

Dorian, however, backhanded her, knocking her directly onto the bed.

"Has anyone ever told you that you look most beautiful when you're angry? No wonder you're Mrs. Wilson. Even I am attracted by you!" Holding Jessie's jaw, Dorian squinted his eyes and laughed coldly.

"What do you want? Let go of me!" Jessie struggled desperately.

Dorian let go of Jessie and, with his back to her, continued, "I won't kill you, nor do I want to do anything to you. But Ethan, that's another story!"

"You bastard!" Jessie cursed, her eyes red with fury.

"Curse all you want, but as far as I know, before Ethan was expelled from the Wilson Family, he hadn't learned any judo. He only knew a few moves you taught him. Yet, in just half a year, his skills have advanced by leaps and bounds, and he has become a warrior with superhuman abilities. How do you think he managed that?" Dorian asked slowly.

It hit Jessie's nerve. The matter of Jayden giving Ethan the Moon Bead was known only to the three of them, and she trusted that neither Jayden nor Ethan would reveal it to anyone. Even so, Ethan's sudden increase in power had still caught Dorian's attention.

Jessie hadn't expected that the item she gave Ethan to protect his life would now become a burden for him.

"Do you think Ethan has mastered some method to rapidly increase his strength, which is why he has progressed so quickly? His judo skills and that miraculous medical expertise—I'm really curious about where they came from," Dorian said, his face breaking into a cold smile as he looked at Jessie.

"I can help you, but you must promise not to harm Ethan!" Jessie knew that, at this point, she could only continue to buy time. Otherwise, Ethan could be in great danger. To obtain that item, Dorian would stop at nothing, even killing Ethan.

"But I no longer want to wait! Do you expect me to wait another three years?" Dorian refused impatiently.

"One month! If you promise to spare Ethan, I guarantee to give you a satisfactory result within a month!" Jessie gritted her teeth and set the deadline.

"Very well, one month it is. You said it yourself. Don't say I didn't give you a chance. But if I don't get what I want in a month, I promise I'll kill Ethan!" Dorian laughed triumphantly upon hearing this.

"Bring Roy here and prepare everything I need," Jessie said, looking at Dorian with a complex expression, ultimately compromising.

"No problem. As long as you help me get what I want, I won't treat you unfairly," Dorian said, squeezing Jessie's jaw with a smile.

"Can you promise me one thing?" Jessie suddenly asked.

"You still want to negotiate with me? Sparing Ethan is already my mercy to you!" Dorian's face immediately darkened.

"I want to see Ethan. Just seeing him from a distance will be enough for me," Jessie said, her eyes full of hope as she looked at Dorian.

"You're not planning to tip him off, are you?" Dorian asked suspiciously.

"You can have someone watch me. I want to see him from a distance. I won't do anything," Jessie explained with gritted teeth.

"Alright. Ethan should be leaving Everglow City in the next few days. Before he leaves, I'll let you see him, but you'd better not try any tricks!" Dorian remained silent for a long time before finally agreeing.

He knew that if Jessie couldn't confirm Ethan's safety, she might not fully cooperate. More importantly, Ethan was the leverage that could motivate Jessie. Only by letting her see Ethan could he ensure she remained focused on him.

Ethan had no idea that he had become a bargaining chip for Dorian to threaten Jessie, nor did he know that Jessie, whom he longed for day and night, had been in Dorian's captivity for three whole years.

As Ethan arrived at the place where he had arranged to meet Munro, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest, but the sensation quickly disappeared.
