Chapter 498 Who Brady Really Is

Ethan fell silent. What Phoenix said wasn't impossible; the other party might really be after this token. But they probably didn't expect that before they even got in, they had lost one at the border.

"The purpose I asked you to give me the item is to temporarily keep it safe for you. When you truly have the ability to uncover the mystery, I'll return it to you," Phoenix added.

Ethan knew very well that Phoenix left one thing unsaid: more importantly, it was to protect him.

"Phoenix, what should we do about the Wilson family? Since the six of us are back, we can't just do nothing, right?" Jasper asked impatiently.

"Of course, we need to do something. The purpose of your return is to investigate the internal issues of the Wilson family. But now it seems a bit redundant," Phoenix said with a wry smile.

"Since we're here, we have to do something. With us around, Ethan can go all out," Jasper said firmly.

"That's right. I was originally worried that Ethan would struggle in the Wilson family. I brought you here to help him get a foothold, but now it seems unnecessary. I was overthinking." Phoenix nodded slowly.

"Phoenix, thank you for your thoughtful consideration." Ethan finally understood the reason for Jasper and the others' return. The investigation was one aspect, but more importantly, it was to support him.

If they had come a bit earlier, Ethan wouldn't have needed Dorian and the others' help. No one would have dared to oppose him, not even Brady, who would have to back down on the spot.

"You're welcome. Since we've finished discussing business, I'll take my leave. Once the Wilson family matter is resolved, have the six of them return to Celestia Vale. I'll naturally get the message," Phoenix stood up and instructed Ethan.

"Why you're leaving so soon?" Ethan asked, somewhat surprised.

"With the six of them here to help you, it should be enough," Phoenix said with a smile and quickly disappeared from the council hall.

"Ethan, the six of us won't show ourselves, but don't worry. We'll be paying attention to Brady secretly. We'll step in when necessary. The rest is up to you," Jasper also instructed Ethan.

"Thank you," said Ethan.

In the next second, Jasper and the others also disappeared from the Shadow Gang's council hall.

"They're back, so it seems I'm redundant now?" Elmer said with a somewhat resentful tone.

"This is the first time I've seen you so lacking in confidence. In terms of strength, you're not much worse than them. I'm curious, you also came from Celestia Vale. Why didn't you stay there and instead chose to return to the Wilson family?" Ethan asked curiously.

Elmer fell silent at Ethan's words. He had a choice back then. If he could choose, he would have liked to replace any one of the six to stay in Celestia Vale.

"Is there something difficult to talk about, or did I touch a sore spot?" Ethan raised an eyebrow and asked.

"Do you really think it was our choice to come back?" Elmer asked slowly. By "we," he meant himself and Brady.

Ethan suddenly realized that the Wilson family might not be as independent as he had thought. From what he understood now, the Wilson family seemed more like a force developed by Celestia Vale in the secular world.

Not just the Wilson family but those families or forces that sent their disciples to Celestia Vale every five years were all closely connected to Celestia Vale, including the Ashford family, the Miller family, and the Harris family.

"I think I understand. If Brady is really connected to Cross Christianity, does that mean Celestia Vale has been infiltrated by Cross Christianity as well?" Ethan's expression instantly grew serious.

"Not just that. Who knows if there's a second or third person besides Brady? So the truth of this matter is also very important to Celestia Vale," Elmer reminded him.

"So, even though you're in the Wilson family's Shadow Gang and seem disconnected from Celestia Vale, you're actually still working for Celestia Vale?" Ethan suddenly changed his tone, raising an eyebrow as he asked.

"Seeing through it but not saying it out loud keeps things interesting," Elmer said somewhat helplessly.

Ethan fell silent. He suddenly realized that Celestia Vale's influence was far greater than what he had noticed, and his curiosity about Celestia Vale grew even stronger.

"Make arrangements; I want to go to the cemetery this afternoon," Ethan suddenly ordered.

"Are you really going to open the coffin? If your father is really lying inside, it will disturb him," Elmer reminded him solemnly.

"I need an answer, and I believe he would understand. Besides, haven't you always wanted to find out who Brady really is?" Ethan said, then turned and walked out.

Outside the Shadow Gang, Beverly asked softly, "Trevor, I'm planning to return to Novaria tomorrow. Will you come with me?"

"Do I need to ask Ethan?" Trevor asked seriously, as if it were the most natural thing.

"Ask me what?" At that moment, Ethan walked out of the Shadow Gang, smiling as he looked at the two.

"Can I go back to Novaria with Beverly tomorrow?" Trevor immediately asked Ethan, not seeming to find anything wrong with it.

Beverly blushed hearing it.

"Sure." Ethan gave Beverly a thumbs-up and teased, "You actually managed to get Trevor to open up. You two are indeed a perfect match."

"What are you talking about? Didn't you say he should protect my safety?" Beverly immediately became flustered, both shy and annoyed.

"Yes. Then let him go back to Novaria with you tomorrow. If you're happy to have him protect you, let him protect you for a lifetime. I don't think he'd refuse." Ethan laughed heartily.

"Let's go. From now on, you don't have to listen to him; just listen to me," Beverly huffed and turned to leave.

"Should I listen to her?" Trevor asked Ethan with a strange expression.

"Haven't you already made your choice? Why listen to me?" Ethan rolled his eyes and turned to walk towards the guest quarters.

Trevor looked at the departing figures of Ethan and Beverly and unhesitatingly followed Beverly.

"This is a big loss. Trevor is a Half-Step Grandmaster," Ethan sighed helplessly and then saw Chloe and Sarah walking towards him.

"You're done with your business. Why are you sighing again?" Chloe hooked her arm around Ethan's and asked curiously.

"Phoenix has already left. Why are you outside?" Ethan looked at the guest quarters and then at Chloe and Sarah, who were alone outside and asked curiously.

"We were just about to look for you, and here you are," Sarah explained.

"What happened? Why are you looking for me?" Ethan was puzzled. If it wasn't something special, Chloe and Sarah wouldn't have come to disturb him, knowing he was with Phoenix.
