Chapter 32 Distorting Right and Wrong
Under the gaze of the two police officers, Ethan's expression remained unchanged.
He slowly raised his head, looking at Clark as he whispered, “Are you going to arrest me over just one side of the story? Captain Clark, isn't your law enforcement too oppressive? Zachary here owes me money, and I’ve come to collect it. However, instead of paying me back, he ordered his men to attack me!”
“These security guards attacked and injured me. I was only acting in self-defense, within the bounds of the law. Is there anything wrong with that? You won't arrest Zachary, but you want to bring us to the police station. Is this how you exercise your law enforcement powers given by the country?!”
Starting with a calm tone, his words were sharper with each sentence, piercing Clark's heart like a sword.
“Self-defense within the bounds of the law?” Clark raised an eyebrow, then turned to Zachary. “Is that true?”
“Of course, he’s lying!” Zachary sneered, looking at Ethan before pointing at the secretary and the security guards. “Secretary, and all of you! Tell Captain Clark what really happened here!”
The security guards whom Ethan knocked down quickly got up, angrily pointing to Ethan as they cursed. “You're talking nonsense! It was clearly you who attacked us first!”
“Yes! We were all knocked down by him. He even broke my nose...”
The secretary's face twisted with malice. “Captain Clark, they intentionally hurt people. They're criminals, spinning lies, and not a word can be trusted...”
With each statement, they spouted nonsense one after another, but their words were full of righteous indignation as if they were speaking the truth.
Zachary glanced at Ethan and Chloe, wearing a victorious expression.
“You dare challenge me?”
“Everyone here is my employee, and Clark is like a brother to me. I can frame you and twist the truth, but what can you do about it?”
Ethan remained calm as always, disregarding Zachary's smug expression as he remained silent.
After all, they were unworthy of his words!
To Zachary, Ethan's calm demeanor seemed to carry a different meaning.
“Kid, you seem quite calm. What, are you acting tough?” Zachary sneered in a low voice, standing in front of Ethan. “Are you angry? Frustrated? Listen, I have ten thousand ways to kill a useless piece of garbage like you, and there's nothing you can do except face it!”
After saying that, Zachary quickly returned to Captain Clark's side while smirking. “Captain Clark, now that you know the situation, how do you think it should be handled?”
“Of course, according to the law!” Clark coldly looked at Ethan and said, “The case has been investigated, and it’s clear that the suspect maliciously injured others with a horrible attitude. According to relevant regulations, they will be detained for three months, also having to compensate for the security guards’ medical expenses!”
“How serious!” Zachary glanced at Ethan, smirking insidiously. “This guy isn’t worth any pity, which is too bad for Miss Miller. I heard that the women's prison is filled with all sorts of deviants. There are inmates who enjoy tormenting, disfiguring people, and hurting others.”
At this point, he glanced at Chloe's face and sighed, shaking his head in fake sorrow. “Miss Miller is so beautiful, but once she enters prison, her life will be over!”
Chloe's face instantly paled, and she instinctively grabbed Ethan's arm, unable to suppress a shiver.
A women's prison! She had heard some things about what happens inside. Some female prisoners who didn’t do severe crimes would be killed by other inmates before they even got sentenced, and some never even made it to the news.
If she were caught and thrown in, even if they didn't kill her, her life would be over!
“Sir!” Chloe forced a smile, “I apologize for your anger. We won't ask for the final payment for the project, and we can settle this matter privately. We're willing to compensate.”
“Settle privately? Compensate?”
Zachary burst into wild laughter in his mind. “So, you want to settle this privately?” He looked her up and down, unable to help himself as he licked his lips with a lecherous look on his face. “Make this guy bow to me and apologize with 100 bows! As for you, come to Moon Hotel, Room 1106 by tonight. We can have a private conversation then!”
Chloe understood exactly what “private conversation” meant.
This old bastard wanted her to sleep with him!
Clark naturally understood Zachary's intentions. His mouth twitched involuntarily as he put on a righteous face and took on a dignified tone. “Settling privately won't do. This is a criminal case, so it must be handled according to the law. Therefore, let's arrest her and then decide!”
Chloe's face turned even paler.
Once inside the prison, life and death are out of one's control. There were too many secrets and dangers!
“Miss Miller?” Seeing the fearful expression on Chloe's face, Zachary secretly gave a thumbs-up to Captain Clark, feeling overjoyed.
He quickly approached her, speaking in a low voice with a lewd grin, “Did you hear that? Captain Clark wants to throw you into prison! If you spend a night with me, I’ll plead him and he’ll spare you!”
As he spoke, his eyes scanned Chloe's chest, taking in the sight of her fair skin, causing his mouth to water.
“You disgusting pervert!”
Chloe raised her hand to cover her chest, looking at him with a face full of embarrassment and anger. “You can forget about it! I won't compromise, even if I have to go to jail! You're dreaming if you think I'll ever sleep with you!”
She scolded him while secretly feeling distressed.
This time, it's truly over!
After finally escaping from home and starting her own business, she wouldn't be able to avoid going back now!
She definitely couldn't go to prison. If it came to that, she could only involve her family.
‘I need to call my family, otherwise this matter might not be resolved!’ Chloe's thoughts were unknown to Zachary.
All he heard was a series of curses!
“You shameless b*tch!” Zachary, furious and embarrassed, returned to Captain Clark's side in long strides and forcefully said, “Captain Clark, no need to waste time with them, just arrest them immediately!”
Clark nodded, his gaze turning ruthless as he raised his hand and commanded, “Take action!”
The two officers closest to Ethan and Chloe immediately sprang into action, taking out handcuffs and moving forward to apprehend the two.
At that instant...
“Wait.” Ethan made a move, holding his phone in his hand with a smile and said, “Zachary, I didn't stop you from making a phone call just now. Now, would you not let me make a call as well?”
“Would I?” Zachary was momentarily startled, then burst into laughter.
He put his arm around Clark's shoulder, looking at Ethan scornfully as he said, “Do you know who Captain Clark is? He is the Lord of Novaria ’s nephew! Even if you make a hundred calls, it wouldn't matter!”
“If you have the guts, go ahead and make the call. I don't believe you can change the situation!”
