Chapter 502 Hopeless Situation
Soon, the news of the empty coffin spread within the Wilson family, but Ethan ordered everyone not to discuss it.
Despite the confusion and curiosity that swirled within them, everyone hesitated to talk about this sensitive topic due to Ethan's current influence in the Wilson family.
In the meeting hall of the Shadow Gang, Ethan squinted his eyes and asked Elmer and Jessie in a deep voice, "Do you think, if he's really still alive, where would he be now? It's been so many years. Why hasn't he shown up?"
"I can't answer that question for you. He even kept it from me. Maybe we can start looking for clues in those ancient books," Jessie reminded Ethan with a complex expression.
"I know. As I said before, no matter where he is, dead or alive, I must find him," Ethan said with extraordinary determination.
"You just mentioned that Matthew might have discovered a secret realm years ago?" Elmer asked.
Ethan's heart suddenly skipped a beat. The secret realms he knew of, besides Celestia Vale and Tiger Mount, included one more place, the one Asura Bloodhand had mentioned before.
At this moment, Jasper suddenly appeared in the meeting hall and spoke directly to Ethan, "Ethan, the six of us have all checked the coffin. There's no sign of death inside, meaning the coffin never held a dead body. Your previous guess was correct; Matthew isn't dead. He faked his death to deceive everyone in the Wilson family and escaped everyone's notice, hiding himself away."
After a moment of silence, Ethan asked softly, "Do you think that Cross Christianity token might be related to my dad?"
"We can't rule out that possibility. Originally, the prime suspect was Brady, but now it seems your dad has even bigger secrets," Jasper sighed helplessly. This outcome was clearly not something everyone could accept.
"Brady got away with it just like that." Ethan chuckled lightly, with a hint of unwillingness in his tone.
"That's also what I wanted to discuss with you." Jasper suddenly changed the subject.
Meanwhile, in Brady's courtyard, several elders were frowning and silent.
"Matthew actually deceived all of us. I really doubt now, what is his true identity? Was he really just a Half-Step Grandmaster back then?" After a long silence, Brady suddenly spoke.
"Now Ethan is definitely going to cause trouble again. He's always been targeting you. It seems Matthew is the one with the most secrets. Let's see how Ethan handles this," Herman snorted.
"Yes, how will he handle it?" Brady nodded in agreement.
"Brady, you just said Matthew wasn't just a Half-Step Grandmaster. Could he be at the master level?" Herman asked with a frown.
"If he could fake his death and deceive everyone, why couldn't he hide his true strength?" Brady retorted matter-of-factly.
"But how could he hide it from you and Elmer? You both are master level experts," Herman paused as he spoke.
At this moment, Jasper and the other six elders suddenly appeared at the entrance of Brady's courtyard.
"What are you here for?" Brady asked Jasper and the others.
"Brady, there are some things we want to clarify with you, but it's not convenient to talk here. Please come with us to Celestia Vale," Jasper spoke directly as if issuing an order, without any room for negotiation.
"To Celestia Vale?" Brady frowned immediately.
At this moment, Ethan and Elmer also walked in from outside.
"You sure are lucky," Ethan snorted lightly, staring at Brady.
Seeing Ethan, Brady suddenly realized and shook his head with a bitter smile. "I've been thinking about when I could return to Celestia Vale for years. Maybe it's time."
"In that case, come with us." Jasper nodded in satisfaction.
Amidst the shocked and bewildered gazes of the crowd, Brady followed Jasper and the others out of the courtyard.
At this moment, facing Ethan and Elmer, the remaining elders were all panicked. Their backbone, Brady, had been taken away by Jasper. They didn't know what to do now.
"After living a comfortable life for so long, do you want to try a different way of living?" Ethan asked Herman and the others with a smirk.
"Ethan, what do you mean by this?" An elder's face turned red with anger as he shouted. He had guessed that Ethan would act against them after Brady left, but he didn't expect him to be so impatient.
"It means that from today on, you are stripped of your positions. From now on, there will be no elder council in the Wilson family. Do you understand what I'm saying?" Ethan said with a cold smile.
"Ethan, you can't do this. The elder council was established by the ancestors of the Wilson family." Herman was truly anxious now. If the elder council was abolished, they may not have a good life in the Wilson family in the future.
Brady's worst fear had come true.
"I am now the head of the Wilson family. Do you think you still have the right to negotiate with me?" Ethan showed no courtesy to them. When he was targeted by Brady, they had helped Brady a lot. So, he had no sympathy for them.
"Alright, I'm just here to inform you. The elder council's courtyard will be reclaimed soon and reallocated. Considering you are also elders of the Wilson family, I've arranged a courtyard at the foot of the cemetery hill for you to spend your remaining years. I don't mind supporting a few more idle people." Ethan didn't even want to deal with them anymore. After saying this, he turned and walked out of the courtyard.
"You have one hour to pack your things. If you don't leave in an hour, I'll kick you out," Elmer warned them before leaving.
For a long time, the Wilson family had been ruled by the elder council. Especially in Matthew and Ethan's generation, the position of the head of the family had been undecided, and the elder council, or rather Brady, had been in control of the Wilson family's affairs.
Brady had also suppressed Elmer, and the elder council naturally suppressed the Shadow Gang.
Now, with Brady's departure and the abolition of the elder council, it seemed that the Shadow Gang could finally hold their heads high.
"How do you feel? Aren't you quite happy?" Ethan asked casually as he walked.
"What are you talking about? I'm just following orders. You're the one playing the villain. Why does it sound like I'm kicking someone when they're down?" Elmer said.
"True, you did get a good deal. Do you think that with the elder council gone, the Shadow Gang will dominate the Wilson family?" Ethan chuckled.
"How dare I? Aren't you still here?" Elmer rolled his eyes and said gloomily.
