Chapter 401 Conversation

After going through a corridor and two security doors with triple authentication—password, fingerprint, and iris scan—Spencer finally led Ethan into a spacious office.

This director's office was unlike any other Ethan had seen. It looked more like a small library, but the shelves were filled with stacks of important documents in manila envelopes instead of books.

Ethan glanced at the shelves briefly before sitting down at Spencer's invitation.

"Still storing intel the old-fashioned way?" Ethan smirked at Spencer.

"These shelves hold just a portion of the important documents. Electronic devices are convenient, but there's always a risk of leaks. These documents might not seem valuable to you, but to intelligence agencies worldwide, they're priceless!" Spencer quickly explained.

"You must be wondering why I'm here today, right?" Ethan shifted the conversation with a smile.

"It would be great if you could explain. If we've offended you, we'll do our best to make amends!" Spencer nodded and smiled apologetically.

"It's not a big deal. Someone called me today, threatened me, and even sent an agent to kill me!" Ethan said calmly.

"Who would dare to offend you? Are they out of their minds?" Spencer's face changed several times, and his heart raced.

Could someone under her command have offended him?

"I'd like to know who he is too, but he said he's at 215 Fifth Avenue. I didn't get the wrong place, did I?" Ethan asked with a smile.

Spencer's face turned pale, and cold sweat broke out.

"This is 215 Fifth Avenue, but our people would never offend you. There must be a misunderstanding. Maybe someone is framing us, trying to provoke a conflict!" Spencer explained desperately.

"You might be right. I was very angry and wanted to tear down this building, but your attitude was good, and you don't seem like the idiot on the phone. I also think there might be a misunderstanding." Ethan nodded in agreement.

Spencer breathed a sigh of relief. He hadn't expected Ethan, who seemed hot-tempered, to be so reasonable and easy to talk to!

"Can you tell me more about the person who called you? Maybe I can find out who's stirring up trouble!" Spencer was almost exploding with anger. If someone had indeed instigated this, causing him and the entire office to suffer unjustly, she would find them and make them pay dearly.

"He called himself Arnold. Here's his number!" Ethan wrote a string of numbers on a piece of paper from Spencer's desk and handed it to him.

"Arnold?" Spencer frowned immediately.

"It's probably a fake name. I also caught one of his subordinates. I let her go, but your guards downstairs saw her. With that woman and this number, you should be able to find out a lot!" Ethan patted Spencer's shoulder with a smile.

He never believed a word Anna said!

"Don't worry. If I find this person, I'll make sure he dies!" Spencer gritted his teeth.

"No, this is my number. If you find him, notify me immediately. If I find out you're hiding something, you should worry about whether those master-level agents from Madryd can save you!" Ethan warned.

"Understood. If I get any information, I'll notify you immediately!" Spencer nodded repeatedly.

"Good. I hope we can be friends in the future. My name is Ethan, and I'm with Vexa. I don't belong to any government agency, but that doesn't prevent us from having a potential friendship, right?" Ethan smiled.

Spencer's heart skipped a beat. Ethan's words made him realize the situation might be more complicated than it seemed.

Ethan was so straightforward about his identity because he was confident, and it also reminded him not to investigate secretly!

"I understand. It's an honor to be your friend!" Spencer quickly nodded.

"Thank you!" Ethan said lightly, then, to Spencer's astonishment, opened the office window and jumped out.

Spencer ran to the window and looked down, but Ethan was nowhere to be seen.

This was the 28th floor, and Ethan had just jumped out. Such an extraordinary act shocked Spencer!

However, because of this, she also gained a new understanding of Ethan's identity and abilities.

"Just you wait! If the mysterious person at Wade's apartment last night was Ethan, then you should have the item!" Spencer looked at the number Ethan had left and coldly snorted.

From the moment Ethan knocked out the guards and entered the building, causing chaos that brought in a large number of police cars and fire trucks, Angela had been secretly monitoring the situation. But she hadn't seen Ethan reappear.

Even though she had confidence in Ethan, she got anxious.

"Ethan, you better die in there for acting on your own!" Angela said angrily as she waited.

"I am your mentor, but you're cursing me to die." A familiar voice suddenly sounded behind Angela.

Angela turned around abruptly to see Ethan glaring at her with displeasure.

"When did you get out?" Angela asked, both relieved and surprised to see Ethan standing there unharmed.

"I've been out for a while, listening to you complain about me!" Ethan said seriously.

"Did you hear everything?" Angela's face turned red. She was actually shy!

"What do you mean?" Ethan asked.

"Nothing, as long as you're okay. What happened in there?" Angela quickly changed the subject, clearly embarrassed.

Ethan chuckled inwardly, 'Angela might be aggressive and just complained about me, but she is also worried. Forget it!'

Ethan then briefly recounted everything that had happened inside the building. After hearing his account, Angela frowned deeply.
