Chapter 290 The Salvador Family Abroad

Ethan was impatient, but there was yet to be anything to be done. He knew that no matter how anxious he was, it wouldn't help. Ultimately, Ethan could only temporarily suppress his curiosity.

"You all love to be so mysterious. If you don't want to tell me, then I don't care to know!" Ethan pouted.

"Did you come all the way to Emerald Valley just to ask me about something from twenty years ago?" Francis asked with a smile.

"Not just that. My Sun and Moon Beads were almost snatched by Jesse yesterday!" Ethan shifted the topic.

Upon hearing this, Francis's expression didn't change, but Ethan keenly caught a flash of anger in his eyes!

"The folks from Celestia Vale couldn't hold back after all!" Taking a deep breath, Francis said calmly.

"You don't seem surprised. Did you already predict they would target me?" Ethan asked, frowning.

"From the day you obtained the Moon Bead, it was only a matter of time before Celestia Vale set their sights on you. It was inevitable," Francis did not deny it and nodded slowly.

"Then why didn't you warn me earlier?" Ethan questioned in a dissatisfied tone.

"Because it wasn't necessary. Even now, they would at most send one or two disciples below the master level to kill you," Francis explained with an air of inevitability.

"The monk last night was a master-level expert. He said his name was Jesse. Do you know him?" Ethan rolled his eyes and asked again.

"Jesse should be a disciple of Celestia Vale. These disciples are not yet members of Celestia Vale but are potential future members. Most of them are personally guided by Celestia Vale's master-level experts. A few, like you, who have opportunities or are geniuses, are discovered by Celestia Vale and become potential candidates for evaluation," Francis explained once more.

"Of course, I know he's from Celestia Vale!" Ethan sighed helplessly, realizing he probably wouldn't get much more out of Francis.

"You are too impatient. If you have no other questions, you should head down the mountain early. I won't keep you tonight," Francis said.

"As if I care to stay here. One last question, and then I'll leave!" Ethan immediately glared and snorted.

"What else do you want to ask?" Francis raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"Yesterday at Misty Ridge, I felt a kind of energy that conflicted with my superpower. When practicing, I could clearly feel a sense of restriction. What's going on? Why doesn't this happen elsewhere?" Ethan asked.

"The superpower you carry is conflicted with the aura there. If people from Misty Ridge came to Emerald Valley, it would be the same!" Francis replied nonchalantly.

Ethan, however, felt that Francis was clearly brushing him off. Although he couldn't find any reason to refute Francis, he suspected that Francis wasn't telling the truth and might be hiding something.

"Alright, you don't need to overthink it. As long as you're not in a place like Misty Ridge, it won't affect you at all. What are you afraid of? Hurry back, I need to rest, too!" Francis urged impatiently.

"You've been sitting all afternoon and still haven't rested enough? Be careful you don't sleep yourself to death!" Ethan glared at Francis, then turned away without any reluctance.

He realized that no matter what he asked, Francis wouldn't tell him the truth so there was no point in bothering him anymore.

Sunridge was an unremarkable small city closest to the border, requiring a plane journey of at least half a day from the capital.

Although it was just early autumn, the place was near the polar circle, with daytime temperatures below ten degrees and bone-chilling cold at night.

Caspar's maternal family, the Salvador family, the largest family in the three states beyond the border, was located in this unremarkable small city.

Almost everyone in Sunridge knew the Salvador family, the undisputed overlord of the area. The head of the family, Rex Salvador, was well-known.

Due to the permanent military presence, the Salvador family, despite its power, maintained a relatively balanced relationship with the military.

Some said that the military's heavy presence was not only to deter neighboring countries but also to keep the Salvador family in check.

Caspar and her son Kenny arrived. The long convoy traversed the snowy roads, surrounded by a vast expanse of white, with snowflakes occasionally drifting down in the howling north wind.

"Kenny, how long has it been since you last visited your grandpa in Sunridge?" Caspar, who had been silent and preoccupied, suddenly asked as the familiar scenery outside the window came into her view.

"I remember the last time I came to Sunridge; it was six years ago," Kenny recalled.

In fact, it wasn't that Kenny didn't have time to visit the Salvador family or that anyone forbade him. He didn't like the Salvador family and looked down on them, who had a bandit-like temperament.

As a child, he didn't have such strong feelings, only instinctively rejecting the Salvador family members. This aversion grew over time, and as he matured, his visits became less frequent. If it weren't for Caspar returning to her family this time, Kenny wouldn't have come at all.

"When you see your grandpa, remember to behave yourself," Caspar instructed lightly.

Kenny said to himself inwardly, 'Here we go again!'

Kenny didn't understand why the Salvador family had such strict rules. It was said that the Salvador family had noble ancestors, hence the elaborate rituals.

Deep down, Kenny felt a strong aversion to the entire Salvador family, mixed with a hint of fear.

If there was anyone in the Salvador family whom Kenny both "respected" and feared besides Mr. Salvador, it would probably be Jim!
