Chapter 573 Brian's Panic
Brian snapped back to reality when he heard the two talking. He grabbed Tyler by the neck and, with a shaky voice, threatened, "Don't even think about moving, or he's toast!"
"Forget about me, just take them out," Tyler yelled at Ethan, showing some serious guts.
"Shut up! You wanna die? You need my say-so first." Brian, all pissed and embarrassed, slapped Tyler again.
"I just wanted to chat, man. Why go all violent? It's such a waste," Ethan sighed, looking at the mess.
Ethan showed up 'cause no one here could touch him, and he wasn't planning on holding a grudge. He was more curious about this Great Elder they kept talking about.
"So, what do you wanna talk about?" Brian asked, all suspicious.
"Why are you gunning for me? Is it 'cause of that half piece of Sacred Wood I got?" Ethan asked, grinning.
"Yeah, that's right. Since you know what we want, just hand it over and save us the hassle. Going against the ML Guild is a bad idea," Brian threatened, looking like Ethan better play along.
"Why are you so cocky? I thought the folks from Celestia Vale were bad, but you guys take the cake." Ethan laughed, clearly ticked off.
"Cut the crap. You're not from Celestia Vale; you're just from the Wilson family. The Wilson family is nothing compared to the ML Guild. Our Great Elder is a late-stage master, and our leader, my master, is almost a grandmaster. You better think twice about messing with us," Brian warned, his face darkening.
"Just from the Wilson family? Seems like your intel sucks. Don't you know I'm the current leader of the Wilson family?" Ethan mocked.
Hearing this, Brian and the other three Half-Step Grandmasters looked shocked.
"So what if you're the leader of the Wilson family? The Wilson family is nothing to the ML Guild." Brian tried to keep his cool and signaled to his buddies.
But then, something weird happened. Brian's three buddies, all Half-Step Grandmasters, just stood there like statues, ignoring him completely.
"What's up with you guys?" Brian asked, confused.
No one answered. The three were frozen, not even blinking.
"Don't bother. I used silver needles to shut them up so they wouldn't mess up our chat. Don't think anyone's gonna run for help; I won't give you that chance," Ethan said.
"What kinda dark magic did you use?" Brian asked, his face pale as a ghost, totally freaked out by the weird situation.
"Dark magic? Nah, man. I'm all about the righteous path. I just used a little trick to seal their five senses, so they're basically out of it," Ethan chuckled.
This move only worked on martial artists below master level. If they were masters, Ethan's needle skills wouldn't cut it.
"Fix them right now, or I'll snap his neck," Brian, now seriously panicking, squeezed Tyler's neck harder and threatened Ethan again.
"You won't get the chance," Ethan sighed. As soon as he finished, Brian's eyes went wide. His hand, gripping Tyler's neck, went numb like it was frozen. He looked down and saw a shiny silver needle in his wrist, his eyes filled with horror.
"My hand!" Brian screamed, trying to yank the needle out with his other hand. But as soon as he raised his left hand, it went numb too, another silver needle in his wrist. Both arms felt like dead weight, completely useless.
Ethan was too fast. Brian couldn't even see him move, let alone dodge. He seemed way stronger than the last time they met.
"By the way, I'm not just the leader of the Wilson family, and I'm not a Half-Step Grandmaster. I'm a full-on master level now. Your info's outdated," Ethan said, giving Brian a sympathetic look.
Brian thought, 'Ethan's a master level now? If he wasn't, how could he be so fast? I didn't even have time to react. But he was just a Half-Step Grandmaster before. How did he level up in just ten days?'
"You don't seem to believe it." Ethan smiled and unleashed his full master level aura. The powerful presence made Brian's already pale face even paler.
Brian's legs, still able to move, kept backing up. He looked at Ethan like he was seeing a ghost, eyes full of terror.
"How'd you get caught if you're a master level now?" Ethan ignored Brian and freed Tyler from the pillar.
The special shackles binding Tyler were like paper to Ethan, breaking with a casual pull.
"Shamefully, after you saved us that day, we planned to find a safe spot to rebuild the JE Guild once I broke through. But we had a traitor. Just as I was at a critical point in my breakthrough, they showed up and used a trick to seal my cultivation, so I got captured," Tyler explained, his face full of shame, mixed with a bit of anger and frustration.
