"I only said I could help mediate the situation, but I can't guarantee that Max would listen if he saw his younger brother like this!” Louis immediately changed his tone, holding back from exploding. He was basically implying that he could’ve helped out before, but he couldn’t be blamed since it was Ethan’s fault for bringing the situation to this level.
“Louis, there are fewer people over there, and they’re quite leisurely. Why don't you go over there?” Ethan laughed heartily in response, pointing to a nearby location with mocking eyes.
Louis was so angry that he could feel himself tremble from anger. Ethan was clearly saying that if he didn’t want to help, then he didn’t need to pretend. What a hypocrite!
The room turned eerie. Ethan acted as if nothing had happened, pulling Sarah back to their seats and leisurely continuing to drink. On the other hand, Louis stood in place with a gloomy look.
When Ares’s two men tried to get up and help Ares up from the ground, Ethan warned, “If any three of you dare get up, I’ll guarantee you won’t be able to do that forever!”
When he said that, no one dared to move. Ethan's previous dominance was still fresh in their minds; leaving no doubt his threat was serious.
Ares fiercely glared at Ethan; his eyes ablaze. Hoping that his older brother Max would appear soon and dismantle Ethan piece by piece!
As for the onlookers; they all remained silent, but none of them showed any intention of leaving.
It had been a long time since they saw such a rare grand scene, so who would be willing to leave at this moment?
Fortunately, they didn’t wait too long. Max's appearance stirred up the whole venue.
When a young man with a conspicuous centipede scar on his face appeared at the hall entrance, almost everyone stepped back involuntarily.
The scar extended from just below his left eye all the way to his right chin, making his entire face look like a sprawled centipede. It was a particularly eerie and terrifying sight to behold!
“Brother, you finally came! It's him... he's the one who hit me and said he would cripple me!” When Ares saw Max, he excitedly exclaimed and pointed at Ethan with a resentful face.
“You useless waste, why haven't you gotten up yet?” Max squinted his eyes, glancing at Ethan before reprimanding Ares.
Drinking a glass of wine, Ethan calmly warned Ares, “If you dare to stand up, I'll break both your legs!”
Struggling to get up, Ares immediately lost his vigor and pitifully looked toward Max.
“Worthless! Since you'd rather lie down and take his threats to heart, just don't bother getting up!” Max didn’t expect Ethan to scare Ares to the point of losing all his courage. His expression darkened even further, his eyes flickering with a cold gleam as he slowly walked toward Ethan.
“So, you're this deadbeat’s older brother. Max from the Crossing Gang, right?” Ethan put his glass down and smiled, narrowing his eyes.
“You’ve got some nerve, laying a hand on my brother. Although I call him worthless, that doesn’t mean outsiders can teach him a lesson. You'll pay the price for your actions today! If you cripple one of your hands and feet, I’ll let you leave alive!” Max paused his steps, standing two meters away from Ethan as he slowly took two knives out.
Seeing his skilled technique, it turned out this person was proficient in knife play.
Ethan asked while raising an eyebrow, “Don't you even want to ask what your dear brother did just now and what he said?”
Max shook his head indifferently, “I already told you; outsiders have no need to discipline my brother, so I don't need to ask!”
The tension in the room was palpable.
Silence prevailed as everyone was eagerly awaiting the impending conflict. They all wanted to know how Ethan would handle this! Max, as the Crossing Gang’s first master, was undoubtedly the strongest among Seattle’s younger generation. Although Ethan had shown some skill before, everyone thought he couldn’t possibly be a match for Max. Even Sarah clenched her fists right now, clearly nervous as her palms sweated heavily.
“Before you came, I told everyone that if your brother couldn't find someone to save him today, I’d personally end him. I hope you, as his brother, won't disappoint me!” Ethan smirked, maintaining his indifference despite being face-to-face with Max's power.
When he said that, the whole scene erupted again. No one expected him to remain strong in front of Max. Was this guy really confident in himself, or was he just acting?
“You’re asking for it!” Facing Ethan's provocation, Max's face turned grim. The pair of curved knives in his hands turned into two residual images, slashing directly toward Ethan from above and below.
“Ahh!” Sarah almost instinctively screamed, but before a second passed, her voice stopped as the entire place fell into silence again.
That's because Max was sent flying like a kite with a broken string!
“You dare play with knives using such fancy moves?” Ethan's face had slight contempt. Under everyone’s surprised looks, he retracted his lifted leg and slowly approached Ares.
Upon hitting the ground, Max laid there motionless.
The entire place was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, with everyone looking at Ethan like he was a monster.
In truth, most of the people here had never seen such strength. Even Max, whom they always avoided, had a strength equivalent to Tim's bodyguard at best. How could he possibly be a match for Ethan?
When Sarah looked at Ethan again, it was filled with astonishment and inexplicable admiration. This man had far exceeded her expectations!
At this moment, Louis's face had turned extremely ugly. He never imagined that Max, whom he had placed all his hopes on, would be so powerless in front of Ethan.
“What... What do you want to do?” Ares was scared witless when he saw Ethan approaching him again. Max's decisive defeat made him think Ethan was no less than a demon!
Ethan reminded indifferently, “Weren't you arrogant before? I already said that if your back-up can’t save you, I’d personally end you!”
“No, you can’t! My dad is the Crossing Gang’s leader; if you dare touch me, he won't let you off!” Ares was genuinely terrified by Ethan's strength this time.
He was so terrified that he instantly sobered up.
Ethan responded with a slight smile, “Is that so? Then call him! Let's see if he can save you!”
“I'll do it, I’ll call right away!” Ares hastily took out his phone and dialed his father's number. In this desperate situation, his father was his last lifeline!
