Chapter 551 Ethan Left

Just as Ethan and Angela were standing there, feeling all kinds of awkward, Lorenzo strolled out of the villa.

"Hey, you two, get in here. I got something to say," Lorenzo said, then turned and headed back inside.

Angela shot Ethan a glare before heading in. Ethan, feeling pretty helpless, just followed with a sheepish grin.

In the living room, Cynthia was chilling on the couch, looking all serious, while Lorenzo plopped down too.

Ethan trailed behind Angela, not daring to sit, so he just stood there with her, like a couple of kids caught doing something they shouldn't.

"Actually, Norman already filled us in on your situation," Lorenzo said after taking a slow sip of his tea.

Ethan and Angela's eyes went wide with surprise.

"Then why'd you act all weird earlier, grilling Ethan like that?" Angela blurted out.

"I just wanted to see if he'd be straight with us or try to pull a fast one. Didn't expect him to be so upfront, kinda left me speechless," Lorenzo admitted, looking a bit thrown off.

Ethan and Angela exchanged looks, both realizing Lorenzo had been testing them the whole time.

"So, what's your take on us then?" Ethan asked, taking a deep breath.

"Honestly, when Norman first told me about you, I was totally against it. But he also mentioned how you helped Angela out a bunch, even helped her become a warrior," Lorenzo paused.

"That's not enough to change your mind, right?" Ethan said with a wry smile.

"Of course not. In the end, it was Cynthia who convinced me," Lorenzo said, also smiling wryly.

"Mom," Angela said, looking at Cynthia, feeling a sudden pang of emotion. She'd thought Cynthia would be the hardest to win over, but here she was, the one who got Lorenzo on board.

"Sit down, you two," Cynthia said, pointing to the sofa, signaling for Angela and Ethan to take a seat.

Even though the single sofa was roomy enough for two, sitting together made them feel a bit shy.

"I know Angela better than anyone. Since she graduated and joined the military, I've never seen her interested in any guy, let alone in a relationship. I even introduced her to a couple of decent guys, but she shot them down right away," Cynthia sighed, sounding pretty helpless.

Ethan rubbed his nose, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Cynthia went on, "Norman called Lorenzo first, but he wasn't having it. Then he called me. I heard a lot about you from Norman and realized you're not just some regular guy. We can't judge you by normal standards, and we can't look at your relationship with Angela in the usual way." Cynthia left out the part where Norman had made it sound like their relationship was a matter of national importance.

After hearing Cynthia explain Norman's good intentions, Lorenzo finally started to waver. But they weren't about to lay it all out in front of Ethan.

Cynthia said earnestly, "In the end, it's up to Angela. If she likes you, even if we oppose it, she might never like anyone else. Better she's with you than alone forever."

As a woman, Cynthia totally got why a guy like Ethan would be a big deal to women.

Lorenzo chimed in seriously, "If Angela wasn't on board, no matter what Norman said, I wouldn't agree either. Now, we just need you both to answer one question."

"What do you wanna ask?" Ethan had a hunch about where this was going.

"Angela, be straight with me. Do you really like Ethan?" Cynthia asked, holding Angela's hand and looking her in the eyes.

Angela blushed instantly, feeling like she was at a wedding, being asked if she was ready to marry Ethan.

"I don't know." She blurted out, then bolted upstairs.

Seeing Angela's reaction, Cynthia got the message, and even Lorenzo could read between the lines.

"Now it's your turn. Do you like Angela? If we give you our blessing, will you take care of her and never let her down?" Lorenzo asked, staring right at Ethan.

Ethan didn't answer right away. Instead, he pointed amusingly to the corner of the stairs, where Angela was hiding and eavesdropping.

Angela had been listening in, but when the living room went quiet, she got anxious, thinking, 'Why isn't Ethan answering Dad's question? Does he not want to?'

Unable to hold back, Angela came downstairs, only to find Lorenzo and Cynthia, but no Ethan.

"Dad, Mom, where's Ethan?" she asked, confused.

"He left," Cynthia sighed helplessly.

Angela stood there, stunned, thinking, 'What does he mean by leaving? Is he just gonna walk away like that?'

Suddenly, she rushed out, jumped into her car, and sped out of the compound.

Lorenzo and Cynthia walked out just in time to see the taillights of Angela's car disappearing.

"Hope she won't regret her choice," Lorenzo sighed with a wry smile.

"Marrying Ethan isn't a bad thing. Norman said master-level folks are among the top in the world and live way longer than normal people. Some grandmasters can live for hundreds of years. Ethan even saved Norman when he was critically ill, and now he can live to over a hundred. From this angle, Ethan won't let Angela down; instead, Angela and we will benefit from it," Cynthia reminded him seriously.

"Do you think I care about his special abilities and want to live a few more decades?" Lorenzo snapped, glaring in dissatisfaction.

"Yeah, you're so noble. I'll have Ethan help me with my health too, hopefully making me live a few decades longer. When you die, I'll remarry right away!" Cynthia shot back, rolling her eyes and heading back inside.

"Cynthia, hold up! What do you mean by that? Are you unhappy with me?" Lorenzo got all anxious and chased after her into the villa.
