Chapter 601 Ethan's Subordinates
"What do you need me to do?" Patricia asked cautiously, dodging the question.
"Aren't you curious why the ML Guild suddenly took over Vast Mountain? What are they up to?" Ethan grinned. He needed the Ladies Guild's help, but he had to give Patricia a good reason to get involved.
His gut told him the ML Guild was after something big in Vast Mountain; otherwise, they wouldn't have made such a bold move. Patricia's eyes darted to Bonnie."Margare said before she got captured, she saw a shadow flash by. It wasn't clear, but it felt like a beast, maybe a tiger or a leopard," Bonnie quickly explained, catching Patricia's look.
"Exactly. Everyone who saw that shadow got nabbed by the ML Guild. There's definitely something weird going on, and what Margare saw isn't just a simple tiger or leopard." Ethan snapped his fingers, looking serious.
"You must've checked out Vast Mountain," Patricia said, staring at Ethan.
"Yep, but I didn't find anything odd, let alone any tigers. In a place like that, wild animals shouldn't be around." Ethan nodded, not hiding anything.
"So, what's your take?" Patricia frowned.
"Either the shadow's already been caught by the ML Guild, or it's hidden so well even I couldn't find it," Ethan said. "But judging by the ML Guild's actions tonight, they probably haven't found it yet and are still searching."
"So, you want in on the action, or you want to snatch whatever it is from the ML Guild?" Patricia asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I won't deny it. But I'm not greedy. I prefer sharing the win with friends." Ethan smiled.
"For a shadow you don't even know what it is, you want the Ladies Guild to help you against the ML Guild?" Patricia looked at Ethan with a playful, slightly mocking expression.
"Think what you want. Even without you, I can take down the ML Guild. I just don't want to go to extremes and want to try something more interesting." Ethan shrugged.
"Sorry, Mr. Wilson, but the Ladies Guild can't help with this. Besides, we have no intention of getting involved in your feud with the ML Guild. Please understand." Patricia shook her head, refusing.
She was just third-in-command, with two higher-ups above her. This wasn't her call to make. More importantly, her sister Linda Jenkins, the head, was in seclusion and couldn't be disturbed. Any mistake could ruin everything, and the Ladies Guild might face disaster.
Plus, the Ladies Guild had always kept a low profile. If it weren't for Linda needing the Sacred Wood to break through and nourish her soul, Patricia wouldn't have teamed up with Seth and others to snatch something from Ethan.
"If I lend it to you, would you still say no?" Ethan asked, revealing a piece of black Sacred Wood in his hand.
Patricia's face went pale when she saw the Sacred Wood. She hadn't expected Ethan to go this far to deal with the ML Guild and figured their feud must be serious.
"What are you getting at?" Patricia was genuinely puzzled now.
"Look, I don't need the Ladies Guild to lead the charge. Besides, with your current strength, you probably can't take on the ML Guild, right?" Ethan said with a grin.
"Once Linda comes out of seclusion, what can the ML Guild do?" Patricia retorted coldly.
"Fair point. But I wasn't lying earlier. I don't want to use you as cannon fodder or have you lead the attack. I just need a bit of support at critical moments. If you agree, I'll lend you the Sacred Wood. I think you need it." Ethan waved the piece of Sacred Wood and smiled.
Patricia stared at Ethan for a long time, weighing her options. But this wasn't a decision she could make alone. "Follow me," she finally said, gritting her teeth. She turned and walked into the valley.
Bonnie quickly followed, glancing back at Ethan to see if he was coming. Ethan touched his nose and followed them. Getting into the Ladies Guild meant he was one step closer to his goal.
Soon, Patricia led Ethan to an open area in the valley. "Stick close and don't stray. The Ladies Guild's restriction maze can trap even a grandmaster-level expert. No matter how strong you are, if you don't know the way, you'll be stuck," Patricia warned, taking out a token and opening a spatial passage.
"Wait!" Ethan suddenly stopped her.
"Are you scared?" Patricia frowned, confused. Ethan didn't seem like the type to back out at the last minute.
"Since we're entering the Ladies Guild's territory, I need to make some preparations. Saying I'm not scared would be a lie. Can I bring someone with me?" Ethan asked with a smile.
"You have a companion?" Patricia looked surprised.
"Just a moment," Ethan said, summoning the Sun and Moon Beads and opening a spatial passage to Tiger Mount.
"This is a secret realm passage. I forgot, you..." Patricia started but stopped herself, considering Bonnie was present.
"I'm calling a subordinate to follow. I hope you don't mind." Ethan smiled.
"Of course not." Patricia calmed herself and nodded. But as Ethan sent two streams of energy into the spatial passage, the figure that emerged made Patricia's face darken. She thought, 'Is your so-called subordinate a grandmaster-level expert? How did you get such a powerful subordinate?'
