Chapter 422 Pandora's Box
Jesse was super excited, nodding and saying, "Don't worry, I remember everything!"
"I was just joking, and you guys took it seriously!"
"Are you kidding? I took it seriously. No backing out now!" Jessie said, eyes wide.
From any angle, taking Jesse in as a godson was a win for her.
Jesse was a Half-Step Grandmaster and would definitely become a master. His master was also an elder at Celestia Vale, which boosted Ethan's leverage.
She felt sorry for Jesse, thinking he was too pitiful, so taking him in was a win-win!
"Why would I back out? As long as you guys are happy, it's fine. Anyway, first come, first served. Jesse's my younger brother now!" Ethan shrugged.
"By the way, since you're secular now, you should have a secular name. It's weird to keep calling you by your monastic name," Jessie said.
"We were just talking about this. He has no parents, doesn't know his surname, and even the monastic name Raymond gave him is Jesse!" Ethan reminded.
"Who said he has no mother? Now he has one!" Jessie said seriously.
"Godmother, are you going to give me a name?" Jesse's eyes lit up.
"If you don't mind, you can take Ethan's surname. Your surname will be Wilson. I originally wanted to name Ethan Trevor, so I'll give you that name!" Jessie said.
"Then my name will be Trevor Wilson!" Jesse, now Trevor, was thrilled to have a godmother and a new name.
Ethan looked at Trevor's happy face and felt touched.
He didn't expect Jesse's return to give him a mother, a secular name, and a brother.
Even if they weren't blood-related, their bond seemed unbreakable!
When Chloe, Camila, and the others returned and saw three new people, they were both surprised and not.
Ethan's return was a pleasant surprise, bringing Alice back was expected. Since Chloe and Sarah accepted Hannah, they were ready to accept Alice.
What surprised them was that Jesse, the monk, had secularized and recognized Jessie as his godmother!
Jessie was thrilled to have a godson. She even cooked a lot of dishes and kept asking Trevor what he liked and if he had any dietary restrictions.
"When he was a monk, he drank and ate meat. He'll eat whatever you make!" Ethan said before Trevor could answer.
Ethan blurted it out and instantly regretted it. Trevor's resentful look made him squirm.
"Did he break the celibacy rule too?" Jessie asked, confused.
"Isn't that why I secularized?" Trevor mumbled, feeling wronged.
"It's no big deal. Being a monk isn't all that. Now you have fewer rules and can even get married. Tempted?" Ethan said, putting an arm around Trevor's shoulder with a grin.
Trevor looked around, his gaze landing on Ethan, making Ethan realize he might've messed up again.
"Stop it. Don't lead Trevor astray!" Jessie scolded Ethan.
Seeing Chloe and the others holding back laughter, Ethan felt a bit left out. Trevor's arrival seemed to steal some of his mom's affection and lower his family status.
"Trevor, I'm curious. How did you break the celibacy rule? Spill it!" Sarah asked eagerly.
"Maybe I shouldn't say?" Trevor blushed, clearly embarrassed.
"You're secular now, so what's the big deal? Ethan said it was an accident. Were you forced?" Sarah encouraged.
In the kitchen, Jessie stayed silent, obviously curious too.
"Okay, but don't laugh at me!" Trevor hesitated, then gave in to Sarah's eager eyes.
The story was indeed an accident. Jesse didn't really break the rule; he just got blackmailed after seeing something he shouldn't have.
Jesse was sent from Celestia Vale to Everglow City to find Ethan. With no social experience and a desire to do good, he caught a few bag thieves. The thieves, unable to use force, resorted to tears, promising to reform, and he let them go.
Realizing he was powerful but naive, the thieves decided to mess with him. They brought in some prostitutes.
Jesse, resting in a hotel, didn't understand when prostitutes were delivered to his door. The result was predictable: the prostitutes stripped and falsely accused Jesse, demanding payment in front of a crowd, creating a scene.
After Trevor's story, everyone except Camila was stunned, then burst into laughter.
"I told you not to laugh! I was framed! They knew I was a monk and did it on purpose!" Trevor's face turned beet red, wishing he could disappear. This was probably the most embarrassing moment of his life.
