Chapter 619 The Backstage of the ML Guild
Dirk didn't seem to care much about Davide's worries. "Chill out. Whether it's the Moonhowl or the Sacred Wood, they're both super important to me. I can't afford to lose either of them. I'll take any hit to keep them safe," Dirk said, his voice icy.
Davide felt a shiver run down his spine and glanced helplessly at the ML Guild disciples on the mountain. He knew tonight was going to be rough. The whole ML Guild was in for a brutal fight against some seriously powerful hidden sects.
"Relax. When the time comes, we'll activate the Magic Circle, and none of them will get away," Dirk added, seeing the worry in Davide's eyes.
"Got it." Davide nodded quickly.
"Now go, keep those guys at the foot of the mountain busy. Don't let them mess with my treasure," Dirk ordered.
"On it," Davide agreed and led a team of elite disciples down the mountain.
Once Davide was gone, Dirk frowned, pulled out a pitch-black diamond from his sleeve, and sent a surge of energy into it. The diamond emitted a purple mist, and a shadowy figure appeared in front of Dirk.
"How's it going?" came Kirk Gutierrez's deep voice from the shadow.
"Mr. Gutierrez, the Moonhowl will show up tonight, and it's ours. But there's a small hiccup," Dirk said respectfully.
"Didn't you promise me everything would go smoothly? You know why I've had you stationed at Vast Mountain all these years!" Kirk snapped, his voice cold.
"I know, I owe my position to you, and I'll do everything to get you the Moonhowl. But the problem isn't the hidden sects; it's a guy with the Sacred Wood," Dirk explained quickly.
"Sacred Wood? You mean Ethan Wilson? He's at Vast Mountain too?" Kirk was shocked.
"Yeah, it's him! He spread the news about the treasure through the Ladies Guild," Dirk continued.
"Got it. We need both the Moonhowl and the Sacred Wood tonight. If necessary, I'll step in," Kirk said after a moment of silence.
"That's a relief. I don't care about those hidden sects. Once the Magic Circle is activated, none of them will leave Vast Mountain. But Ethan's tough, and I can't guarantee I'll get the Sacred Wood from him. Only you can do that." Dirk sighed in relief.
Kirk had trained him for years and was a top master-level expert. If Kirk got involved tonight, they were sure to win.
"Wait! I feel a powerful force covering the entire Vast Mountain," Kirk suddenly exclaimed.
"A powerful force?" Dirk's face changed instantly.
Kirk was already a top master-level expert, so if he said it was powerful, it had to be something serious. Dirk thought, 'Could it be that another top master-level expert had arrived at Vast Mountain?'
"Could it be a top master-level expert from Celestia Vale?" Dirk's face went pale.
"Probably not. Celestia Vale's got their hands full right now. If it were them, I'd sense it. Maybe I just felt it wrong," Kirk said, though he didn't sound too sure. Dirk, who was almost sweating bullets, let out a sigh of relief.
"Alright, we've got four hours until the full moon. I'll be there before then. Don't mess up this time, or you're done for," Kirk warned, his tone icy.
"I get it. No mistakes tonight, I promise," Dirk said, his face tightening as he nodded quickly.
"It better be," Kirk snorted, and then the mist vanished, taking his shadow with it.
Dirk looked at the black diamond in his hand, slipped it back into his sleeve, glanced at a dense part of the forest on Vast Mountain, and then disappeared in a flash.
What Dirk and Kirk didn't know was that their whole conversation had been eavesdropped on by a powerful Sea of Consciousness. Kirk's gut feeling was right, but this Sea of Consciousness was so strong that even he couldn't be sure if he was imagining things.
"Didn't expect the leader of ML Guild to be a puppet, using a communication stone to talk to his master!" Angel had already filled Ethan in on what she found out.
"Kirk Gutierrez," Ethan muttered, feeling a bit helpless. He didn't know much about hidden sects, let alone which big-shot sect had a leader with the surname Gutierrez.
Plus, Kirk was likely a top master-level expert. To get the Sacred Wood, he didn't trust Dirk and planned to show up himself. Not exactly great news for Ethan.
"Anyone know of a super sect leader with the last name Gutierrez?" Ethan suddenly asked Patricia and Deborah. They both looked surprised.
"Mr. Wilson, why do you ask?" Patricia said, puzzled.
"There's a super sect behind ML Guild, and the leader's name is Kirk Gutierrez. The whole ML Guild, including Dirk, is working for Kirk," Ethan explained.
Patricia and Deborah exchanged glances. Patricia shook her head with a bitter smile. "Mr. Wilson, you overestimate the Ladies Guild. We're just a small sect trying to get by. We don't have any contact with super sects, so we can't help you there."
"Maybe you should ask Linda; she might know something. If even she doesn't know, then no one else in the Ladies Guild will," Deborah added, sounding just as helpless.
"Linda's still in seclusion, and I don't have time to go to the Ladies Guild to ask her now. Never mind, it doesn't matter who he is anymore." Ethan chuckled lightly. No matter Kirk's background, Ethan knew he was already on Kirk's radar and would have to face him sooner or later.
