Chapter 540 Ethan's Deduction
"Yo, from what I can tell, Matthew ain't just some Half-Step Grandmaster. He's got more juice than Francis," Ethan dropped the bombshell on everyone.
Angel had backed this up before, so Ethan kept it on the down-low. But now, thinking back, the only thing that didn't add up was Matthew's crazy strength.
"You for real?" This time, even Francis and Elmer were shook.
"Yeah, I'm for real. Can't spill all the beans right now, but trust me, he's way more than a Half-Step Grandmaster," Ethan said, nodding like he knew something they didn't.
Everyone went quiet. Since Ethan was holding back some deets, they didn't push him but tried to wrap their heads around it.
If Matthew was really that strong, it was straight-up scary. Why would he join Cross Christianity if he was that powerful?
"I'm starting to think Matthew's got his own game plan. Joining Cross Christianity, faking his death, it's all part of his scheme," Ethan threw out his theory.
"Yeah, if that's the case, it all clicks," Elmer agreed.
"Then what's his endgame?" Ethan frowned, stumped for even a wild guess.
Herman showing up confirmed a lot, but the mystery just got deeper.
Ethan suddenly asked, "You know what Matthew's rank is in Cross Christianity? Is he a big shot or just a grunt?"
Herman answered confidently, "He's gotta be in the core. Otherwise, he wouldn't have the Cross Christianity token, and they wouldn't trust him with big stuff. But it looks like he didn't just vanish. According to you, he's been playing Cross Christianity all along and finally double-crossed them."
Ethan told Francis calmly, "Francis, don't keep him locked up. Let him chill at Tiger Mount for now. If there's any trouble, I'll deal with it."
"You're the boss now. Who's gonna argue?" Francis sighed, giving in.
Soon, Ethan took Jessie and Elmer back to the villa. Herman's news weighed heavy on them, especially Jessie, who looked seriously bummed, struggling to accept the truth about Matthew.
Ethan said to Elmer, "You should head back. If anything comes up, I'll hit you up."
"Alright, I'm out," Elmer nodded and left Ethan's place.
Jessie suddenly asked, "You think he'll show up again?"
"He will. Even if he hides at the end of the world, I'll track him down. Actually, there's something I didn't mention earlier. No matter what his plans are, I feel like they're tied to me," Ethan turned to Jessie, sharing his hunch.
"Tied to you?" Jessie was floored.
"Yeah. Whether it's the Sun and Moon Beads or those ancient books, it feels like he set it all up for me. I got a hunch he'll pop up sooner or later," Ethan nodded, sure of himself.
Jessie was quiet for a bit, then nodded like she finally got it.
Ethan said, "Don't sweat it too much. At least we know he's alive and pulling the strings. I bet the truth will come out soon."
"You heading out?" Jessie seemed to catch on to Ethan's vibe and asked suddenly.
"Yeah, I'm off to Celestia Vale," Ethan nodded. "Gotta let them know about Cross Christianity, and Herman said there are more secret realms than we know. I think Celestia Vale's got the scoop."
"Take care," Jessie nodded slowly.
Before Chloe and the others got back, Ethan took off again, heading to Celestia Vale overnight.
This time, Ethan ditched the car and flew to the city closest to the northwest border, then made a beeline for Celestia Vale.
Under the starry sky, Ethan showed up at the peak of the stone mountain again. This time, he didn't need anyone to guide him or open the passage. He whipped out the Token of the Gods and opened the space passage to Celestia Vale.
Trevor had given it to him last time he was at Celestia Vale, letting him come and go as he pleased. Raymond giving Ethan the Token of the Gods was Celestia Vale's way of saying they trusted him.
When Ethan popped up in the secret realm of Celestia Vale, Donovan and the gatekeepers were caught off guard.
Donovan stammered, "Mr. Wilson, how'd you get in?"
"Hey, you guys doing alright? Recognize this?" Ethan grinned and flashed the Token of the Gods.
"This is the Token of the Gods. Raymond actually gave you this?" Donovan and the others were stunned.
Ethan chuckled, "I need to talk to Raymond about something important. Can you show me the way?"
"No problem, Mr. Wilson, follow me," Donovan quickly agreed and led Ethan to Raymond's place.
"Mr. Wilson, you can go in yourself. I'll head out," Donovan said with a smile after bringing Ethan to Raymond's courtyard.
Ethan didn't mind, thanked him, and walked into Raymond's courtyard.
"What brings you here today?" Raymond's cheerful voice called out before Ethan even got close.
Ethan smiled, "Got some news to share with you."
"Come on in," Raymond said, and the door opened from the inside.
Ethan stepped in and saw Raymond grinning at him.
Ethan said as he sat down, "Haven't seen you in a bit. You still look sharp. Sorry to drop in like this."
