Chapter 313 Automatic Protection
Chloe and Sarah had never seen Ethan so on edge before. Their hearts pounded in their chests.
"Who is he?" Sarah whispered.
"Just a pain in the ass, full of himself," Ethan replied, squinting.
"Ethan, at least you get it. If these people rushed in, they'd be dead. You actually saved their lives!" Larry sneered.
"You're a Half-Step Grandmaster, yet you mock regular folks? That's just sad," Ethan shot back, noticing Larry was here alone.
He thought, 'What's their game? Maybe Ronald's too high and mighty to show up, so he sent Larry. He must trust Larry a lot.'
Half-Step Grandmaster—most people wouldn't get it, but Chloe, Sarah, and Robert were stunned. They stared at Larry in shock.
"No one laughs at me. Hand over the beads, and I'll let you live. Otherwise, don't blame me for what happens next," Larry said coldly.
"So, you finally show your true colors? Ronald wanted me as a disciple, but he sends you instead? Think you can take my stuff?" Ethan retorted.
"Ethan, don't push me. Ronald doesn't bother with you. I'm enough. Hand over the beads, or else!" Larry shouted, his face darkening.
"Aren't you worried Jesse might show up? Then you'd be in trouble," Ethan warned. He wasn't scared of Larry, but Chloe and Sarah couldn't defend themselves. If invoking Jesse's name made Larry back off, he'd do it.
Ethan cursed Jesse inwardly, who had promised to stick close but was nowhere to be seen. If Jesse were here, Larry wouldn't be so bold.
"Jesse? Even if he shows, he can't protect himself. No one's saving you today. Hand it over, or I'll take it," Larry sneered.
Ethan's heart sank. He realized Ronald might be busy dealing with Jesse. Ronald and Larry were going all out today, no matter what.
"You've got guts, I'll give you that. But if you want my stuff, let's see if you can take it!" Ethan decided to strike first. With a flick of his wrist, three silver needles shot toward Larry's upper, middle, and lower body.
"Courting death!" Larry hadn't expected Ethan to strike first. Furious, he caught all three silver needles mid-air and tossed them to the ground.
Ethan knew Larry was strong, but this was on another level. Neutralizing his surprise attack so easily meant Larry was even more formidable than he thought. This was going to be a straight-up brawl.
To keep Chloe, Sarah, and the bystanders safe, Ethan charged at Larry. Larry's face twisted in contempt. He formed a strange hand seal with his left hand and struck out with his right palm.
Before they even made contact, Ethan felt a powerful force, like a thousand pounds, rushing at him. He realized Larry was even stronger than he had imagined.
"Fool! Since you don't know what's good for you, I'll cripple you first and then take what you have!" Larry sneered, but his smile quickly vanished.
Not only did his palm strike fail to injure Ethan, but it also sent Larry flying. He stumbled in mid-air and retreated over 30 feet before regaining his footing, staring at Ethan in shock.
Ethan stood firm, calmly staring back at Larry as if nothing had happened.
"How is this possible? You haven't even reached Half-Step Grandmaster. How could you withstand my palm strike?" Larry was in turmoil. He couldn't believe he had been knocked back.
"Half-Step Grandmaster, is that all?" Ethan sneered, though his heart was pounding. The exchange had been risky. He thought he would be seriously injured, but at the critical moment, a massive force from the Sun and Moon Beads had enveloped him, blocking Larry's strike and sending Larry flying.
'The ZF Guild's artifact really is something, even has a protective function! But can it handle a master-level attack?' Ethan wondered. He checked the beads and found them completely devoid of spiritual energy. Even when he tried to communicate with them using the ZF knack's magic, they didn't respond.
Ethan's face turned grim. 'Did blocking that one strike exhaust all the Sun and Moon Beads' energy, even their basic spiritual power? How useless! I shouldn't have wondered if they could withstand a master-level attack!'
"Not happening! Think you can defeat me? Let's see how many more of my strikes you can take!" Larry didn't wait for Ethan to react and charged at him again with another palm strike.
"Larry, you owe me super energy!" Ethan, still fuming, saw Larry charging at him and roared, meeting him head-on with a punch.
