Chapter 559 Giuseppe's Obsession
Seeing Giuseppe strut around like he owned the place, Ethan, who'd been keeping quiet, finally couldn't hold back and burst out laughing.
"What's so funny?" Giuseppe snapped, catching the smirk on Ethan's face, his mood instantly souring.
"I'm laughing at your big ego. Sure, you're a Half-Step Grandmaster, but you think my wife isn't?" Ethan said, throwing an arm around Angela's shoulder, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Giuseppe's eyes nearly popped out of his head as he gawked at Angela. From what he knew, she’d just started dabbling in martial arts. No way she could be a Half-Step Grandmaster already.
He couldn't wrap his head around the idea that his decades of sweat and toil were getting shown up by a few months of her training.
And it wasn't just Giuseppe. Francesco looked like he'd seen a ghost too. He was floored not just by Angela's supposed rank but also by how Ethan was talking about her.
Angela was a bit lost at first. She didn't really care if Giuseppe was a Half-Step Grandmaster or not. As long as Ethan was around, she figured everything would be cool. But when Ethan called her his "wife," she blushed. Just as she was about to say something, she felt a warm surge from Ethan's hand into her body.
"What did you just call her?" Giuseppe, snapping out of his shock, glared at Ethan, his face twisted in anger.
"What's the matter, Half-Step Grandmaster, got hearing problems? I called her my wife. Angela, go ahead and handle this clown. If you wanna throw down, I'm right behind you," Ethan chuckled, pulling his hand back from Angela's shoulder.
"Leo, who the heck is this guy?" Francesco, still clueless about Ethan, asked Leo, frowning at his nerve.
"Seriously? As Norman's grandson, you don't even know who he is?" Leo shot Francesco a mocking look.
"Cut the crap and just tell me who he is," Francesco, getting fed up, pressed Leo.
"He's Ethan Wilson. Seriously, you don't recognize him?" Marco chimed in, reminding Francesco.
Francesco looked puzzled at first, but then his eyes went wide as it clicked.
"Do you think he'd be as wishy-washy as us, stressing over every little thing?" Leo, seeing Francesco's reaction, grinned and laughed.
"So that's your secret weapon. Now it all makes sense." Francesco finally got it, including why Angela was so set on facing Giuseppe.
"We don't have time for your drama. You still up for that challenge? If you're a man, step up and fight me," Angela taunted Giuseppe, whose face had turned dark.
"Are you really a Half-Step Grandmaster?" Giuseppe asked, his expression shifting as he stared at Angela. He couldn't figure out how she advanced so fast or why she'd pick Ethan over him.
"I'm not," Angela admitted, not hiding her true level.
Hearing this, Giuseppe let out a sigh of relief and turned his gaze to Ethan.
"Don't give me that look. My wife can take down a Half-Step Grandmaster. If I say she is, then she is. I'm giving you an out here. Losing to a Half-Step Grandmaster sounds better than getting whooped by a regular martial artist, right? Even if you're gonna lose to her either way," Ethan taunted, staring Giuseppe down.
Francesco stepped up to Ethan, about to say something, but Ethan raised his hand to shut him up. Francesco had no choice but to zip it.
Giuseppe, hearing Ethan's taunt, almost lost it and wanted to put him in his place. But seeing how Francesco was acting around Ethan, he suddenly froze, realizing something was off.
Even though Giuseppe was a hothead, he wasn't dumb. If Ethan were just some random dude, Angela wouldn't give him the time of day.
"Who the hell are you, really?" For the first time, Giuseppe gave Ethan a serious once-over, his voice low and cautious.
"Doesn't matter who he is. Are we fighting or what? Quit stalling," Angela snapped, her face showing nothing but impatience.
"Yeah, we're fighting. I've been chasing you for five years, and you never gave me a second glance. Now that I finally have a shot, why would I back down?" Giuseppe shot back, nodding eagerly.
"Then shut up and fight. If you win, you call the shots. But if you lose, you gotta get out of Everglow and never come back," Angela said coldly, her face like stone.
"You want me to leave Everglow?" Giuseppe's face twisted like he'd been slapped.
"Don't think I haven't noticed your crap over the years. Others might turn a blind eye, but not me. If it weren't for your dad, you'd be rotting in jail. Asking you to leave Everglow is me being nice," Angela's voice grew sharper with each word.
"Giuseppe, I never thought I'd see the day," Leo burst out laughing, knowing his plan was working. No matter what happened next, Giuseppe was done in Everglow, just a joke to everyone.
"Giuseppe, a friend's advice: leave Everglow and never come back. Win or lose, it doesn't matter. Your dad's gonna pay the price too," Francesco sighed, giving Giuseppe a serious look.
Giuseppe went quiet, realizing things were spiraling out of his control, but he couldn't figure out where he messed up. He had no way out.
Andrea was about to hit it big, and Giuseppe was on the brink of becoming a big shot. Angela, the woman he wanted most, was right there. He wasn't ready to give all that up. Even if he lost, he needed to know why and to whom.
"No, I'm not backing down. Even if I lose today, I'll take it," Giuseppe decided, gritting his teeth and snorting coldly.
"I respect that," Ethan nodded.
"But I need to know one thing. Do you agree with her terms, and will you stick to them?" Giuseppe stared at Ethan, asking slowly.
"Absolutely. Whatever my wife says goes. If she loses to you, then you deserve it," Ethan laughed, totally chill.
"Alright, let's settle this in the ring." Giuseppe clenched his fists and, to everyone's surprise, jumped onto the stage.
The two martial artists who were still figuring out what was happening got kicked off the stage by Giuseppe.
"Come on, show me what you got," Giuseppe shouted, eyes locked on Angela.
"Remember the mantra I taught you. Go," Ethan whispered in Angela's ear, nudging her towards the stage.
Ethan could easily take care of Giuseppe, but it was clear that letting Angela handle it herself would mean more to her and make her happier.
