Chapter 322 Ethan's Generosity
Ethan didn't respond but instead scanned the crowd, looking at the thugs holding steel rods and iron bars, and surprisingly, a hint of a smile appeared on his face.
"If I want to use my fists?" Ethan asked.
"Then you're courting death. I don't care if you're a big shot. Maybe you're powerful in Novaria, but here in Emerald Vein, you have a nobody!" Rodolfo burst into laughter.
Seeing Ethan's small frame, he really didn't take him seriously and thought he was putting on a show.
"Really?" As soon as Ethan finished speaking, he suddenly moved.
Before Rodolfo and his men could react, Ethan charged in alone. Amidst screams and exclamations, a dozen thugs were already lying on the ground, unable to get up!
"Get him! All of you, get him!" Rodolfo's eyes widened at the sight, finally reacting and immediately giving the order to attack.
He didn't expect Ethan to be such a skilled fighter, nor did he expect him to act so quickly!
However, in just a moment, all of Rodolfo's men, except for himself, were down, unable to stand!
These thugs might be able to handle ordinary people, but against Ethan, they stood no chance.
As Rodolfo and his men all screamed, Beckett and the others were stunned!
"So, how did I do? Who on earth is courting death?" Ethan asked Rodolfo with a smile.
"Buddy, you're not really here to fight us, are you?" Rodolfo, suppressing his shock and fear, asked with a forced calm.
"Do you think I have time to play games with you? I just wanted to see how effective using fists to reason is. Now tell me, how effective was it?" Ethan asked nonchalantly.
"You're quite skilled. I admit defeat this time!" Rodolfo gritted his teeth, clearly unwilling, but he had to concede temporarily.
"You've won. Take your people and leave. As for tonight's incident, I believe the police will investigate thoroughly. Whoever is responsible won't get away!" Rodolfo, being a man of his word, had no intention of continuing the conflict.
Of course, even if he wanted to, he probably couldn't!
"We'll leave for sure, but if you expect the police to recover the goods, that's unlikely!" Ethan nodded slowly.
"What do you mean by that?" Rodolfo's face changed instantly.
"Nothing much. If they could move such a large batch of raw stones in such a short time, how could they let you find them so easily? I've finished reasoning with fists; now I'll reason with money!" Ethan said as he took out a prepared check from his pocket.
"Here's a $3 billion cash check. I'll cover the lost goods tonight. Whether the police recover them or not, that's my problem!" With that, Ethan handed the check to Rodolfo.
From a normal perspective, Ethan's actions seemed foolish. After all, the transaction wasn't completed, and the goods were in Rodolfo's warehouse, making it Rodolfo's responsibility. Yet, Ethan was willing to spend $3 billion to cover all potential losses. Isn't that foolish?
Rodolfo's tough stance towards Beckett and the others was to gain as much benefit as possible to cover some losses.
However, he didn't expect Ethan to be so generous, covering it all!
"What? You don't want the money? Is money not effective?" Ethan asked again, seeing Rodolfo's stunned expression.
"Are you serious?" Rodolfo's hand trembled as he took the check.
"If you don't believe me, you can call the bank to verify. $3 billion is nothing to me. Even if there's a loss, I'll cover it. In the future, if I have businesses in Emerald Vein, I need your help!" Ethan explained with a smile.
"No problem, Mr. Wilson, right? From now on, we're friends. If I have good raw stones, I'll prioritize you!" Rodolfo quickly agreed.
Ethan was willing to be so generous because he knew Ignatius had taken the raw stones. Whether it was his fault or not, Rodolfo was an innocent victim. He didn't mind spending $3 billion to gain a favor that would benefit the company's development.
Moreover, he would definitely recover that from the Ashford family later!
After some grateful exchanges, Ethan left the warehouse with Beckett.
He came to the warehouse to confirm something and had gotten his answer; there was no need to stay.
The presence of martial energy confirmed his previous suspicions, proving he hadn't wronged Dorian and Ignatius.
On the way back, Beckett asked Ethan why he gave Rodolfo $3 billion.
Even though the $3 billion came from Ethan and not the company's account, it still pained Beckett.
"I have my reasons. Don't dwell on it. Let's focus on finding Hannah!" Ethan didn't want to dwell on the issue.
Just then, Alexander's call finally came through.
"Any news on Hannah?" Ethan asked directly as he answered the call.
