Chapter 574 Another Miscalculation

"Traitor?" Ethan's face twisted with regret after hearing Tyler's story.

Given the mess back then, with the JE Guild getting wiped out and only a few of them making it out, the odds of a traitor among them shot through the roof. But Tyler, being the straight shooter he is, wouldn't suspect his buddies, giving some shady folks a chance to mess things up.

Ethan got it. He felt Tyler's pain. Getting stabbed in the back by someone you trust? That's a tough pill to swallow. It reminded him of when he first figured out Matthew was pulling the strings.

"Let me patch you up first, we can chat later." With that thought, Ethan didn't push for more info. He just stuck a silver needle into Tyler's Sea of Qi.

After about half an hour, Ethan pulled the needle out, and a puddle of light gray gunk had pooled at Tyler's feet. That was the poison Ethan had flushed out. It wasn't deadly, but it could lock down a master's powers, making them useless.

"Thanks for saving my bacon again. I don't think I can ever repay you. I just want to stick by your side," Tyler said, feeling his master-level strength flood back.

"Don't you want to bring back the JE Guild?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.

"What JE Guild? Besides me, all my buddies got taken out by that traitor." Tyler shot a furious look at the still-dazed Brian.

Since Ethan started treating Tyler, Brian had been frozen in place. Maybe he had a shot to run earlier, but with Ethan around, he didn't dare. One silver needle from Ethan could end him. Now, with Tyler back at full strength, he had zero chance of escaping.

Thinking about how he had brutally killed Tyler's friends, Brian could almost see his own doom. He couldn't help but wet his pants.

"You really think you can lead the ML Guild with that?" Ethan sneered at the terrified Brian.

"Mr. Wilson..." Tyler started, but Ethan cut him off.

"I know what you're gonna say, but I still need some info from him," Ethan said coolly.

Hearing this, Tyler, though pissed, slowly unclenched his fists. Ethan had saved his life, so he didn't have the right to demand revenge for the JE Guild.

He wasn't clueless. He was deeply grateful to Ethan and would follow his lead.

"I'll spill whatever you want, just promise to spare my life and keep Tyler from getting revenge," Brian pleaded with Ethan, laying out his terms.

"Even though you ain't really in a spot to make deals, I can roll with that, as long as you spill where the Great Elder's hiding," Ethan chuckled, laying down his own terms.

"I don't know. After we left the sect, the Great Elder told us to bring Tyler here and wait for his signal. But it's been three days, and nada," Brian quickly shook his head, looking desperate.

"So, you're basically useless?" Ethan sighed, sounding disappointed.

"No, no, I am useful! I don't know where he is now, but he'll definitely reach out to me," Brian stammered, fear making him eager to please.

"But how long do I gotta wait? If he doesn't hit you up, this deal's a bust for me, and I'm stuck with dead weight like you," Ethan chuckled, not really caring.

"No, no, according to our plan, he should show up today," Brian blurted out.

"Today, huh?" Ethan squinted, sizing him up.

"Yeah, unless something crazy happens, he'll either come himself or send someone to get me," Brian nodded frantically.

"You stay here and keep an eye on them. I'll be back soon," Ethan frowned, giving Tyler a nod before vanishing.

Tyler didn't question it. Whatever Ethan said, he did. But his glare at Brian was enough to make the guy's legs turn to jelly.

"You should be grateful you're still useful to Mr. Wilson. Otherwise, I'd be slicing you up myself," Tyler sneered, making Brian faint from sheer terror.

Ethan bolted back the way he came, cursing himself for being careless. It had been about half an hour since he and Angela split up. If the Great Elder showed up now, she wouldn't stand a chance.

Racing back to the reservoir where he and Angela had parted ways, Ethan's face darkened.

His worst fear had come true. No sign of Angela or Marco, just a lone car by the water.

He knew Angela and Marco wouldn't just take off. Even if they did, they wouldn't go far. The only explanation was that the Great Elder had nabbed them.

Ethan's slip-up had given the Great Elder an opening. But now, the Great Elder had crossed a line.

Kidnapping anyone else might've left room for negotiation, but messing with the women he cared about? That was a death sentence.
