Chapter 523 Searching for the Moon Bead

Raymond kept going, "So, after Francis got into Celestia Vale, he was on the down-low, hunting for any hints about the Moon Bead but came up empty-handed.

Then, like twenty years back, during one of his little adventures, Francis suddenly got a vibe from the Moon Bead using the Sun Bead he had. But when he got there, poof, the Moon Bead's aura vanished.

Still, Francis was sure the Moon Bead wasn't in Celestia Vale's stash. This made him chill a bit about suspecting Celestia Vale.

But then, Francis got super desperate to find the Moon Bead. And what happened next? It totally wiped out any good vibes he had towards Celestia Vale.

The old boss of Celestia Vale, Neil Wallace, heard that Francis had some leads on the Moon Bead and thought someone was trying to bait Francis to snag the Sun Bead. So, he told Francis to hand over the Sun Bead to Celestia Vale for 'safekeeping.'

Francis wasn't having it and got into a big fight with Neil, threw down the Token of the Gods, and stormed out of Celestia Vale."

Ethan finally got why Francis bailed on Celestia Vale. If he were in Francis's shoes, he wouldn't trust them with the Sun Bead either.

After all, Celestia Vale ditched the ZF Guild and their principles. Who's to say they wouldn't just keep the Sun and Moon Beads for themselves once they got their hands on them?

"Even after Francis left, Celestia Vale kept tabs on the Sun and Moon Beads. Those things are a big deal," Raymond sighed, looking all defeated.

"So, what's this got to do with Matthew?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, curious.

"Honestly, Francis could explain this better than me. Right after he left Celestia Vale, he got another lead on the Moon Bead. When he went to check it out, he ran into some young dude," Raymond went on.

"Wait, are you saying the guy he met was actually Matthew?" Ethan's heart skipped a beat.

"Back then, no one knew who the guy was. Even Francis couldn't tell because the dude was masked up, probably to stay incognito. And even though this guy was just at the Half-Step Grandmaster level, Francis couldn't touch him. And remember, Francis was almost a Grandmaster himself at that time," Raymond explained, looking dead serious.

Ethan went quiet, thinking hard. A Half-Step Grandmaster, but even Francis couldn't handle him? That sounded a lot like Matthew.

He always thought Matthew couldn't just be a Half-Step Grandmaster. Angel also said Matthew was a mystery with crazy strong spiritual power. Maybe the Half-Step Grandmaster thing was just a front.

"I bet Francis is thinking the same thing now. He picked you not just because the Sun and Moon Beads chose you, but also to figure out where the Moon Bead you have came from," Raymond's words felt like he was trying to stir the pot, but Ethan couldn't argue with it.

Ethan thought, 'Does Francis really not suspect me? Or did he pick me to dig up the truth?'

"If that mysterious young dude was really Matthew, then he's been hiding his power. And it's gotta be way beyond just Grandmaster level; otherwise, Francis would've seen through him," Raymond kept on.

"So, what happened to Francis after that?" Ethan asked, frowning.

"The young guy didn't give him a hard time. Even though he could've easily taken the Sun Bead, he didn't. He told Francis to chill at Silvermist Peak, and soon enough, the Moon Bead would come to him. And guess what? Everything the mysterious guy said came true," Raymond said, giving Ethan a look that said, "Think about it."

Ethan pondered, "Everything's been set up. That mysterious dude has to be Matthew. He passed the Moon Bead to me through Jessie and Jayden. And everything that happened after, was it all Matthew's plan? If so, then my getting kicked out of the Wilson family and sent to Novaria was all part of someone's scheme. If that's true, could the one who set me up be my own dad, Matthew? Why would he do that?"

"There are too many mysteries about your dad. Maybe you can't find all the answers now, but I believe you'll figure it out eventually," Raymond said seriously, looking at a stunned Ethan.

"Is this all you wanted to tell me?" Ethan squinted and asked calmly.

"Yeah, these things might be eating at Francis. He never told you, so maybe it's better coming from me," Raymond nodded with a smile.

"I'll ask him myself," Ethan said, clenching his fists.

"Some things don't need to be chased too hard. What Francis is dealing with is beyond what you can imagine. Even though you're now the head of the ZF Guild, you still need to grow. He's also carrying all these mysteries to not hold you back," Raymond advised.

Hearing this, Ethan, who was feeling pretty heavy-hearted, let out a long sigh. Francis had it rough too. He might've kept things from him, but not out of bad intentions. And he had no reason to blame him.

Honestly, if Matthew was the mastermind behind all this, Ethan owed Francis an explanation.

"I've told you everything I can. The rest, you gotta figure out yourself," Raymond reminded earnestly again.

"Thanks." Ethan took a deep breath and nodded slowly.

"Celestia Vale and the ZF Guild were originally one. Even after all these years, Celestia Vale hasn't produced anyone beyond the Grandmaster level and has been stuck," Raymond said with a bitter smile.

"Where's Neil, the guy you mentioned earlier, now?" Ethan suddenly changed the subject and asked.

"Neil's been in seclusion since Francis left Celestia Vale. He was already at the peak of the Grandmaster level back then and has been trying to reach a higher level, like our ancestor Arthur who ascended. He's been in seclusion for twenty years now, and the seven elders have been running Celestia Vale," Raymond explained calmly.

Ethan was deeply shaken.
