Chapter 397 Testing Patience
Ethan chuckled dryly, thinking Angela's professional habits were deeply ingrained.
As they talked, four black cars pulled up, and a group of armed young men surrounded them in no time.
Angela stayed alert, watching every move. With so many guns pointed at her, it was hard not to be nervous. But seeing Ethan's carefree smile somehow calmed her down.
Just then, a woman in leather pants and a jacket, Anna Robinson, stepped out, glaring at Ethan with a mix of anger and frustration, like she wanted to kill him.
Angela was a bit surprised. Ethan was right; the leader was a woman!
"Where's Wade?" Anna pointed her gun at Ethan's forehead.
"You're pretty, but your temper's awful. Girls should be gentle and quiet to be cute. This attitude of yours isn't good at all!" Ethan teased, looking her up and down.
Anna's figure was impressive, rivaling Angela's curves.
Angela's expression turned odd at Ethan's words, feeling like he was indirectly talking about her. 'Is my temper really that bad?' she wondered.
Anna cursed and tried to kick Ethan in the chest.
But she underestimated him. Before she knew it, her leg was pinned against the car's hood by Ethan's leg, and her gun was in his hand!
"Your temper is indeed bad. Hitting people right away isn't a good habit!" Ethan sighed, now pointing the gun at Anna's head.
"Don't move! Put the gun down!" The agents finally reacted, shouting angrily at Ethan.
Anna was shocked. Ethan's movements were too fast, and she had become his captive!
"Too noisy!" Ethan, looking annoyed, cleaned his ear with his pinky, followed by a series of screams.
All twenty or so agents had shiny silver needles embedded in their gun-holding wrists, some even going through entirely!
The pain was unbearable, and they clutched their wrists, screaming, not even caring about the guns that fell to the ground!
Seeing this, Angela picked up one of the fallen guns. When she saw two agents trying to pick up their guns with their other hands, she fired two shots, disabling their other arms too!
"Don't move if you don't want to die!" Angela shouted, and the agents turned pale, not daring to move as she kicked all the fallen guns aside.
"Who the hell are you?" Anna, stunned by the sudden turn of events, finally reacted, angrily questioning Ethan.
"Of course, I'm me! Did Arnold send you?" Ethan chuckled lightly, then asked calmly.
"You better let us go, or you'll regret it!" Anna threatened through gritted teeth.
"Answer my question, or I'll stick a couple of needles in you too. You saw what I can do!" Ethan released Anna, lowering the gun but holding two more silver needles, warning her not to try anything.
Ethan's skills were beyond anything she'd expected, almost magical, making her realize how dangerous he was.
"What do you want?" Anna asked, eyeing Ethan warily.
"Relax. I don't want to hurt you. Just tell me where Arnold is." Ethan smiled.
"Even if I tell you, you wouldn't dare go!" Anna scoffed.
"You'll find out soon enough if I dare!" Ethan chuckled, pulling a belt from an agent's waist and tossing it to Angela.
Angela got the hint and tied Anna's hands behind her back with the belt.
"Get her in the car. I'll handle the others," Ethan said, grabbing a tow rope from the trunk and tying the agents together, securing them to one of the cars.
With their wrists injured, they couldn't escape anytime soon.
After finishing, Ethan got back in the car.
"This is what I call a bloodless victory. Didn't kill a single person!" Ethan smiled at Angela, who was guarding Anna in the back seat, then started the car and drove off under the agents' furious glares.
The car re-entered the highway, heading back to the city.
A few minutes later, Ethan's phone rang again, the same number as before.
Ethan answered but didn't speak, and the other end was silent too.
Both seemed to be waiting for the other to speak first.
Ethan waited a full minute without a sound, raising an eyebrow.
Even Angela in the back seat was getting impatient, but before she could say anything, Ethan hung up!
"Trying to outlast me? I have all the time in the world!" Ethan scoffed, making Angela swallow her words.
Soon, the phone rang again.
This time, Ethan didn't answer. The calls kept coming until the fifth one, which Ethan finally answered leisurely.
"Do you have my people?" Arnold's low, angry voice came through the phone.
"Smart. Now, guess what I want to do next?" Ethan asked with a smile.
"You want to find me? You want the hard drive I have?" Arnold asked slowly after a moment of silence.
"Congrats, you guessed right, but no prize. Will you tell me where to find you, or should I use my methods to get this woman to talk?" Ethan asked calmly.
"You're indeed fearless. I should've known someone who could silently infiltrate Wade's place wasn't ordinary. You must be from Vexa, right?" Arnold's voice was filled with barely contained anger.
"Don't be so upset. Calm down. Besides, you're asking too many questions! You don't have to tell me where or who you are, but I have ways to get everything I want to know from your girl. The result will be the same!" With that, Ethan hung up again, not waiting for Arnold to respond.
