Chapter 253 Mean to Mess Around Again

Without waiting for the secretary to respond, Ethan walked up to Roy, extended his hand, and introduced himself, "I'm Ethan. You must be the General Manager of Zenith Group, Roy?"

Roy was initially taken aback upon hearing Ethan's name, but he quickly regained his composure.

"Oh, Mr. Wilson. I've heard a lot about you!" Roy shook Ethan's hand calmly.

"That should be my honor. I didn't expect you to know me," Ethan replied.

Sarah and the other girls rolled their eyes upon seeing this, thinking, 'Since you kicked him out of Skyline Center, how could he not know you? Not many people at Zenith Group recognize you, but they've definitely heard of Ethan. Isn't it a rhetorical question?'

"Mr. Wilson, you're joking. You came here all of a sudden. What can I do for you?" Roy asked politely, his expression unchanged.

"Since you are so direct, I won't beat around the bush. I'm here today mainly to see what my future office looks like. Is that convenient?" Ethan explained seriously, ending with a seemingly polite question.

"I see. Mr. Ashford has already ordered us all to vacate Skyline Center within three days. We'll start the relocation work tomorrow. Since Skyline Center will belong to you, how could I refuse your request?" Roy nodded calmly, even showing a smile, seemingly unfazed by Ethan's rude behavior.

"Not 'will belong to me,' but 'already belongs to me as of today!'" Ethan quickly corrected Roy, his serious demeanor making even Sarah and the other girls feel he was being a bit obnoxious.

"You're right. My fault. Please, Mr. Wilson!" Roy didn't seem to mind at all. Instead, he smiled and opened the door, making a welcoming gesture.

"I feel like Roy is really cunning. He gives me quite an unsettling feeling!" Sarah whispered a reminder in Ethan's ear, following him into the general manager's office.

"Dorian indeed has some skills and a good eye for people. Roy is a talent that I've been looking for, but unfortunately, Dorian got to him first!" Ethan chuckled noncommittally.

"You don't plan to recruit Roy, do you?" Chloe asked Ethan with a strange expression.

"I hadn't thought of it until you mentioned it, but now that you say it, I'm a bit tempted!" Ethan grinned.

"Mr. Wilson, feel free to look around. There's not much to see. It's just a small space we use for work or meeting clients." Roy suddenly interrupted their conversation, explaining the office layout as he looked around.

Upon entering the office, Ethan found himself increasingly convinced of Roy's pragmatic nature. In stark contrast to the ostentatious grandeur often associated with corporate magnates' executive suites, Roy's workspace exuded simplicity, spanning no more than roughly 323 square feet. Comprising distinct work, reference, and guest areas, the office emanated a sense of impeccable tidiness and tasteful arrangement. Without uttering a word, Ethan led the three young women on a stroll through the office.

Ethan didn't say anything. He just wandered around the office with the three girls.

"Would you like something to drink?" Roy asked considerately, not in a hurry.

"No need to be so polite. I'll leave after I take a look." Ethan waved his hand dismissively. Then, his gaze fell on the glass compartments of the bookshelf.

In one of the compartments, there were several trophies with Roy's name engraved on them. They were all from internationally renowned biological research competitions and included some honorary certificates.

"Mr. Brooks, did you major in biochemistry?" Ethan asked, intrigued.

"Those are honors from a few years ago." Roy shrugged noncommittally.

"I didn't expect a biochemist like you to cross over into finance and real estate investment. It seems you're quite versatile. Don't you think it's a pity to give up your original field?" Ethan asked curiously.

"It doesn't matter whether it's a pity or not. Everyone has their aspirations. I want to try more new things. There's nothing wrong with that," Roy said lightly, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses with his fingers.

"You love challenges, and I admire that!" Ethan gave him a thumbs-up.

"I'm flattered. Have you finished the tour? If not, I can show you other areas of the group," Roy said warmly, clearly not wanting to dwell on the topic.

"Sure, I heard there's a lab upstairs. Is it convenient to take a look?" As soon as Ethan said this, Roy's smile visibly disappeared.

"Mr. Wilson, you must be joking. How could Zenith have a lab? Upstairs are just some confidential archives with many business secrets. I hope you understand," Roy quickly became calm and responded dismissively.

"It seems my information was wrong. I thought you might find it a pity to give up his field and was still conducting biological research while studying finance," Ethan said calmly, with a hint of regret in his tone.

"This way, Mr. Wilson," Roy resumed his courteous smile.

With Roy's deliberate arrangements, it was unlikely Ethan would see anything valuable. After a casual tour around Zenith, he left with the three girls.

"Why would a biochemist like Roy become the General Manager of Zenith Group?" Chloe, who had been mostly silent, asked Ethan with a frown after they left Zenith Group.

"I've been wondering the same thing. But I think the lab upstairs might give us the answer. Unfortunately, by the time we can get in, everything will probably be gone," Ethan said, shaking his head helplessly.

"Do you really think there's a lab upstairs where Roy is conducting biological research?" Sarah speculated boldly.

"If that's the case, it can't be Roy's idea. If Dorian didn't know or support it, Roy couldn't conduct biological research there. Dorian doesn't seem to be involved in this aspect, right?" Chloe reminded skeptically.

"If what you're saying is true, it must be some shady research. Otherwise, Dorian and Roy wouldn't be so secretive. Why not just open a biopharmaceutical company?" Ethan pointed out sharply.

"After all this talk, what are you thinking? Are you really planning to recruit Roy?" Sarah asked curiously.

"Even if I had that idea, it wouldn't work for now. Roy isn't like Joe; he can't be bought with money and minor benefits. To make someone like him betray his master, you need the right timing and a compelling reason to serve you," Ethan said, shaking his head with a wry smile.

"You're right. Roy is out of the question. But what about Joe? Are you really planning to keep him in our company?" Chloe nodded in agreement and then suddenly asked.
