Chapter 587 Francis's Reaction
Ethan gave Angela's butt a playful smack and grinned. "Whatever the reason, tonight's gonna be just how you want it."
"Why'd you slap my butt? Got some kind of fetish or something?" Angela rubbed her butt and pouted.
"If I did, could you handle it?" Ethan laughed.
"I'll roll with it, okay?" Angela huffed playfully.
"Alright, we gotta head to Tiger Mount. We'll talk about this later," Ethan switched gears.
"You're gonna tell Francis about Phoenix, right?" Angela caught on quick.
"Yeah, even though they've been at each other's throats for years, they still care. If it wasn't for Francis, Phoenix wouldn't have stayed away from Celestia Vale for so long." Ethan sighed, then summoned the Sun and Moon Beads to open a portal to Tiger Mount's secret realm.
A few moments later, Ethan and Angela were standing on a peak at Tiger Mount.
"The moonlight here is gorgeous!" Angela's eyes sparkled at the sight of the stars and moonlight.
"The sky in the secret realm is always clearer. Even at night, the stars shine brighter." Ethan smiled.
"Living here forever wouldn't be so bad. Think we could bring my parents here after they retire?" Angela asked on a whim.
"Sure, but since your parents are regular folks, I'll help them become martial artists first. Once they have some powers, getting in and out of the secret realm won't be a hassle. Plus, the spiritual energy here is way richer, which is great for cultivation," Ethan agreed without a second thought.
"You're the best." Angela hugged Ethan's neck and kissed his cheek.
"Are you two here in the middle of the night just to show off?" Francis's teasing voice came from above.
"So, you're spying on us now?" Ethan snorted.
Angela blushed but didn't feel too embarrassed. She was naturally aloof and didn't care much about others' opinions. Being with Ethan had only made her more so.
"Someone came to Tiger Mount, so I had to check it out. How's that spying?" Francis defended himself.
Just then, Shane appeared on the other side. After glancing at Angela and Ethan, he got the gist and greeted them.
"Is he your disciple?" Angela was curious about Shane and turned to Ethan in surprise after hearing his greeting.
"Yeah, just took him on. He's Shane, a legit early-stage master level expert," Ethan said calmly.
"Early-stage master level?" Angela was even more shocked by Shane's strength.
Angela thought, 'Ethan's also an early-stage master level, so how can he take on a disciple at the same level? What can he even teach him?'
"Shane, this is my wife. Make sure you listen to her from now on," Ethan said firmly, snapping Angela out of her thoughts.
"I will, but how many wives do you have?" Shane nodded, then asked out of the blue.
The air got awkward real quick, and Angela raised an eyebrow at Shane's question.
"Just five," Ethan said, scratching his nose awkwardly.
"Five, and you say 'just'? How many do you want?" Angela pinched Ethan's waist hard.
Luckily, Ethan was tough enough to handle it; otherwise, he'd be embarrassed in front of everyone.
"That's not what I meant," Ethan said with a wry smile.
"Serves you right for being a flirt. So, what's the real reason you're here in the middle of the night?" Francis smirked, clearly amused by the whole scene.
Ethan and Angela stopped their bickering, and the mood turned serious.
"What happened outside?" Francis asked, noticing Ethan's serious expression.
"Phoenix got ambushed and seriously hurt on the northwest border yesterday," Ethan finally said.
"Is he gonna die?" Francis asked calmly, not showing much reaction.
"He shouldn't be in mortal danger, but he's pulled back from the northwest, so he must be pretty messed up." Ethan sighed.
"Who did it?" Francis asked directly.
"Not sure, but it was definitely someone from a hidden sect, and a grandmaster level expert at that." Ethan shook his head slowly.
"Hidden sects!" Francis squinted. "So they couldn't hold back any longer?"
"I came to tell you the news and to ask if there's any connection between the hidden sects and Cross Christianity," Ethan said. He could've gone to Celestia Vale for answers, but it was too far, and asking Francis was easier.
"Cross Christianity has a lot of traitors who originally defected from Celestia Vale, and there are traces of hidden sects. It's not surprising they'd team up," Francis said, taking a deep breath.
"Figured as much. So, we're dealing with threats from both inside and outside." Ethan frowned, looking more serious.
"Aren't you planning to take action against the ML Guild?" Francis suddenly asked.
"Weren't you against it before? Why the change of heart?" Ethan asked, intrigued.
"My thoughts haven't changed. I still shouldn't show myself, especially in front of the hidden sects. It's best for me to stay at Tiger Mount," Francis explained seriously.
"If you don't go, what am I supposed to do?" Ethan glared at him. Francis had agreed before but now seemed to be backing out.
