Chapter 158 Intercepting Midway
The Wilson Group's rise was too sudden, and no one knew the relationship between the group and Ethan apart from Ethan's associates.
Within just half a month, the Wilson Group had firmly established its presence in Baytown.
Until Alexander reported the results, Ethan ended his training session like a dedicated ascetic.
During this time, he mostly stayed in the villa practicing ZF Knack, only occasionally visiting Sarah.
His meals were also quite casual, rarely eating at the neighboring Hannah Collins' house, which was all because of little Duoduo's constant nagging for her Ethan.
‘After half a month, the super energy of ZF Knack only increased by this much.
It seems just focusing on intense training won't work. I need to find another way!’ Unsatisfied with the small energy sphere forming in his dantian, Ethan shook his head and sighed.
Little did he know that ordinary people could spend their whole lives training and still not understand even the basics of energy, let alone being able to condense a vortex in just half a month!
Ethan arrived at the Harris family and picked up Sarah early in the morning. They headed straight to Emerald Valley.
There was no other way. Francis didn't use modern communication tools like phones. If Ethan wanted to find Francis , he had to personally make a trip to St. Benedict's Priory.
"Ethan... Are you sure you're okay?" Sarah looked at Ethan, who was driving at the moment. She was somewhat worried.
"What could possibly be wrong with me? Don't overthink it!" Ethan smiled and shook his head, looking relaxed as if he had completely moved on from Chloe's incident.
Sarah finally relaxed and curiously asked, "Why are you suddenly going to find your cheap senior again? Is there something important? I think it would be more reliable to install a telephone line at St. Benedict's Priory, so you don't have to go there like this!"
"I have a few questions to ask him. I'm about to enter the capital, so I need to make some preparations. Since I've decided to go, I certainly can't return empty-handed!" Ethan's face showed a determination. When he enters the capital this time, he must establish his own influence and circle in the city, at least to be able to contend with the Wilson family.
More importantly, this trip to Houston may well be his first open confrontation with the Wilson family since leaving. In this first battle, he must emerge victorious to show the Wilson family that no one can stop his progress!
"By the way, how is her company doing now?"
Ethan shifted the conversation abruptly. "Are you really asking me? Chloe left the company to you, and yet you became a negligent boss. I've hired a professional manager to help run it, and I'll be keeping an eye on things, too. Otherwise, the company would have been ruined under your leadership, and Chloe would be furious if she found out."
Sarah responded indignantly, "Thanks!"
Ethan didn't know what exactly she was thanking him for, but he increasingly felt indebted to Sarah. Sometimes, he felt lost, unsure of where their fate and feelings would lead them.
"Your courtesy only makes me feel the distance between us. I don't like hearing the word," Sarah huffed with dissatisfaction.
Ethan forced a bitter smile and remained silent.
At that moment, the car had entered the winding mountain road leading to Emerald Valley. Ethan's brow instantly knitted into a knot, and his expression darkened.
Sensing an intense aura emanating from Ethan, Sarah, sitting in the passenger seat, was startled. "What's happening?"
"We might be in trouble. Listen to me, no matter what happens, do not get out of the car. I'll handle everything," Ethan solemnly instructed Sarah. Then, he slammed on the brakes and parked the car by the side of the road.
Sarah's face filled with horror because another vehicle was parked right in front of their car,, completely blocking their path, with four men in black preventing any escape.
"Who are they?" Sarah exclaimed.
"They're the Wilson family's lackeys! Don't worry, they probably won't dare to touch you. Remember what I said, don't get out of the car!" Ethan sneered and reiterated his warning to Sarah before swiftly opening the door and darting out like the wind.
"Be careful!" Sarah instinctively yelled as Ethan shut the door and approached the front of the car.
"The Shadow Gang?" Ethan raised an eyebrow as he looked at the four black-clad men emanating a murderous aura. His eyes were filled with caution because he felt a pressure no weaker than that of Tang Shisan from them.
"Ethan Wilson, you really impressed me. I finally understand why Thirteen lost to you. But it seems like your victory over him last time was just a stroke of luck, isn't it?"
One of the men in black laughed and said, "All I want is the result, the means don't matter. I'm willing to do anything as long as I can make the Wilson family unhappy, I'm willing to do anything!"
However, Ethan sarcastically retorted, "Only losers make excuses for their mistakes!"
"That's right, Thirteen was indeed too careless. But you won't be so lucky this time! Let me introduce myself, I am Twelve Tang, and these three are members of my Shadow Gang, Fourteen to Sixteen. If you have any last words, you can say them now. Otherwise, you might not get the chance. When we reach the Hades, you can tell Lord Yama who killed you!"
Twelve Tang's eyes behind the black mask radiated absolute confidence. He didn't believe that Ethan, who defeated Thirteen Tang through clever tactics, could escape from their hands.
"Let me see how much stronger you are compared to Thirteen Tang."
Ethan sneered, taking the lead by charging toward Twelve Tang.
Since he had just practiced the ZF Knack and hadn't yet tested his skills against a master, this was the perfect opportunity to see how much his combat power had increased!
Fast!
The speed was too fast!
In the blink of an eye, Ethan had charged in front of the four people. Twelve Tang's eyes blazed with intense battle intent as he swung the long knife directly toward Ethan's neck.
Ethan was just eager to dieIn his eyes!
However, Twelve Tang felt a huge force pushing back against the knife the next second,. It rebounded, causing his hand to tremble, almost losing his grip on the knife.
Ethan's lips curled up. Ever since he discovered the wonders of toothpicks in Seattle, he always carried these ordinary hidden weapons with him!
Even if they were made of bamboo or wood, they could instantly unleash a bullet-like force as long as they were empowered by his superpowers!
Twelve Tang was astonished to find a notch on the blade of his long knife. His eyes showed an incredulous expression.
Before he could react, there were three consecutive muffled groans. The long knives in the hands of his three teammates flew out, and it was apparent that a toothpick had pierced through their wrists, penetrating their bones!
How much explosive power was needed to achieve the effect of a toothpick piercing bone?
These were clearly not toothpicks but bullets!
"You dare to use hidden weapons!"
Tang Shier almost couldn't believe his eyes. Despite not wanting to admit it, he had witnessed Ethan using toothpicks as weapons and successfully disarming three of his own men.
It was the first time he had seen someone use toothpicks as concealed weapons, let alone with such astonishing attack power.
"I said it before. The means don't matter. I only care about the results! If your so-called Shadow Gang is only capable of this, then all four of you can stay here today!" Ethan sneered and charged toward Tang Shier like a bullet shot from a gun.
