Chapter 451 Going Through A Really Tough Time

Enrique had no clue Ethan was already keeping tabs on him. After bailing from the police station, he got this weird vibe, like the Bradley family rang a bell or something.

"Mr. Coleman, I owe you big time for today. Seriously, thanks a ton!" Jimmy, sitting next to him, noticed Enrique zoning out and quickly flashed a grateful smile.

"We're buds. But I didn't think you'd hit me up for a favor for one of your guys. You really rate this dude, huh?" Enrique snapped out of his thoughts and gave Jimmy a curious look.

"His name's Bradley Smith, from Smith Village just outside the city. The guy's sharp, handles my biz like a pro, and most importantly, he listens. That's why I needed your help," Jimmy explained in a hurry.

But when Enrique heard "Smith Village," his eyes widened in surprise. Something clicked, and he couldn't help but ask, "Does Bradley have a relative named Jared Smith?"

"I've never heard him mention it. He barely talks about his family, especially not any broke relatives."

Jimmy shook his head, puzzled, but then something clicked, and he asked, "Mr. Coleman, why do you ask? Do you know him?"

"How could I know some broke dude? I just had a college buddy from Smith Village with the last name Smith." Enrique quickly brushed it off and turned away, clearly not wanting to dig deeper.

Jimmy was confused but smart enough not to push it.

Their nights usually involved wild partying, but tonight, Enrique wasn't feeling it. After a few drinks at the club with Jimmy, he bailed solo.

Once Enrique left, Jimmy called up his crew, including Bradley, who'd just gotten into some trouble earlier today.

While sipping his drink, Jimmy remembered the convo with Enrique and asked Bradley, "Do you have a relative named Jared Smith?"

Bradley froze for a sec, his face going all weird. "Really?" Seeing his reaction, Jimmy knew he knew Jared but couldn't read his expression.

"Why the sudden interest in this guy? We're all from Smith Village. I've heard of him." Bradley quickly shook his head, clearly not wanting to admit any family ties with Jared.

"Mr. Coleman said he had a college buddy named Jared Smith from Smith Village. It seems to fit. But why do you all get so weird when Jared's mentioned?" Jimmy explained and then asked, curious. He didn't dare ask Enrique, but Bradley was fair game.

"So, he and Mr. Coleman were classmates. There's not much to say about Jared. He's a rapist, locked up but getting out soon." Bradley said with a dark look, like talking about Jared was a major embarrassment.

"Is that so? No wonder you all get so worked up about him." Jimmy nodded, finally getting it, but didn't think much of it.

He had no clue about the real deal between Jared and Bradley, or that Enrique had a hand in Jared's lock-up.

After leaving the club, Enrique drove to a swanky neighborhood in Bankgok. He hit up this spot almost as much as his own crib.

The reason was pretty straightforward: Laura, who'd been his sidekick for years, was holed up in this fancy community.

The doorbell rang. Laura, fresh out of the shower and rocking just a nightgown, strolled to the door, towel-drying her hair. She peeked through the peephole.

She opened the door, looking surprised to see Enrique. "Why didn't you give me a heads-up? And why are you here so early?"

"Had something on my mind, needed to chat," Enrique said, plopping down on the living room sofa.

"Just chat? Why not take it to the bedroom?" Laura's eyes sparkled with surprise, and she slid next to Enrique with a flirty grin.

"By my count, Jared's getting out of the slammer tomorrow," Enrique suddenly blurted out.

Laura froze, her face going stiff. "Why bring him up now?" After a long pause, seeing Enrique light a cigarette, Laura asked softly.

"Pretty sure he's out tomorrow," Enrique said, squinting and smirking.

"Didn't you try to block his early release? He's already in deep, and you're still not satisfied?" Laura felt a chill run down her spine at Enrique's smile.

"Not satisfied? I want him locked up forever!" Enrique snorted, then eyed Laura suspiciously. "You still got feelings for him?"

"How could I? I just don't want you stuck in old grudges. And look at me now, how could I still love him? Don't forget, he's in there because of me!" Laura's face showed panic as she tried to explain.

Enrique sneered, "Yeah, you said he raped you, got him eight years. Now he's about to see you again. Think he'll see you as an enemy?"

"Isn't that what you wanted?" Laura lowered her head, looking sad.

"Exactly. How dare that broke loser try to take you from me?" Enrique sneered coldly.

"Did you come here just to tell me this?" Laura asked softly.

"Nope, I came to tell you that tomorrow, you're coming with me to greet our old buddy Jared out of prison. I want his first sight to be you, in my arms. What do you think he'll do?"

Enrique's face twisted into a creepy smile, making Laura jump and back away.

"No, I can't see him again. Please, don't make me. I already framed him and got him locked up for eight years. I can't push him anymore." Laura shook her head, pleading desperately.

"Still feeling sorry for him?" A flash of anger crossed Enrique's eyes, then he sneered.

"No, I just feel guilty. You're not just hurting him, you're hurting me too. Please, let me go!" Laura shook her head, begging.

"Let you go?" Enrique sneered, raising an eyebrow. "Beg me harder."

Over the years, Laura had become numb, with all her dignity and pride stripped away by Enrique. She was in a really rough spot right now.
