Chapter 482 Got Tricked
Logan, following the script that Ethan had provided earlier, recounted the events with his own embellishments and exaggerations added in.
In simple terms, Brady betrayed Zephyr to reconcile with Ethan, replacing Zephyr's spot to enter Celestia Vale.
"Nonsense! The Selection Meeting for Celestia Vale is long over, and the list of those selected has been finalized. How could Brady just change it on a whim?" After the initial shock, Zephyr sensed something was off. He scrutinized Logan suspiciously, wondering if he was being played.
"How am I talking nonsense? Brady told me this himself. He said you've been using me all along and stirring up trouble between us. He called me for a talk as soon as I got back. How else would I know so much? If it weren't for the fact that you treated me decently before, I wouldn't even have bothered telling you. But now you doubt me," Logan shouted, immediately puting on a face of aggrieved anger.
Zephyr and Dashiell exchanged glances, both seeing the shock in each other's eyes. Brady might have really told Logan all this. Otherwise, Logan couldn't know he was being used. Now, Zephyr had to question the authenticity of his words.
"Do you have any proof?" Dashiell asked with a frown.
"What proof do you need? It's obvious. As soon as Zephyr goes to Celestia Vale, the truth will come out. Do you think I'd joke about something that can be verified so easily? That would be asking for trouble," Logan reminded them earnestly.
Zephyr felt a sudden tension in his heart. Indeed, even if Logan were stupid, he wouldn't joke about something that could be verified immediately. He didn't have the guts.
"What do you think?" Dashiell asked, looking worriedly at the grim-faced Zephyr.
"You're asking me? I don't even know what's going on right now. Who should I ask?" Zephyr clenched his fists, feeling an urge to storm into Brady's place and demand answers. But then he hesitated.
If Logan was telling the truth, confronting Brady now wasn't right. Without the protection of Celestia Vale, he'd be in danger in front of Brady.
After a long silence, Zephyr asked in a deep voice, "Do you know who he replaced me with?"
"I'm not sure about the specifics, but it should be someone from the Shadow Gang. Besides you and Ethan, only a few from the Shadow Gang in the Wilson family qualify," Logan asserted confidently.
"Shadow Gang?" Zephyr's face immediately darkened.
Elmer was clearly siding with Ethan now. If Brady gave the spot to the Shadow Gang, it not only showed his intent to reconcile but also strengthened Ethan's side.
Zephyr had any doubts about Logan's words before, but now, he believed them completely. Firstly, the logic made sense. Secondly, Logan didn't have the guts to deceive him!
"Talking behind someone's back is never a good thing!" At that moment, a cold voice suddenly rang out, startling Zephyr and the other two.
Elmer, wearing a mask, had appeared beside them without them noticing.
"You heard everything?" Logan was so startled by Elmer's sudden appearance that he took a few steps back. But then he remembered Elmer was on Ethan's side, and his panic lessened.
Suppresing his anger, Zephyr asked through gritted teeth, "You knew about this?"
"Yes, but I only just found out. Brady didn't consult me when he did this." Elmer shook his head noncommittally.
"Why should I believe you?" Zephyr snorted coldly.
"You really think you're that important? Do you think I have a reason to lie to you, or that you can offer me any benefit?" Elmer sneered, insulting Zephyr.
"Can I leave now?" Logan asked uneasily.
"Get lost," Zephyr, full of anger, snorted impatiently.
Logan, feeling as if he'd been granted amnesty, quickly disappeared from Zephyr's sight.
"Are you very angry?" Elmer asked, staring at the grim-faced Zephyr.
"Shouldn't I be? Or do you think I should pretend nothing happened?" Zephyr retorted through gritted teeth.
"Brooding won't help. If you're smart, you should know what to do next!"
Before Zephyr could respond, Elmer disappeared.
Elmer's sudden appearance confirmed Logan's words, leaving Zephyr and Dashiell with no doubt. They believed Brady's betrayal was real.
Zephyr now wanted to beat Brady up, but he lacked the power.
"Zephyr, if we can't go to Celestia Vale, what do we do? All our plans will be ruined." Dashiell was genuinely scared now. Brady had clearly abandoned Zephyr and might even die. Maybe he would be the next.
Thinking this, Dashiell broke into a cold sweat.
"If Brady is unkind, don't blame me for being unfaithful." Zephyr seemed to have made a decision, his face darkening.
"What are you planning to do?" Dashiell asked, alarmed.
"Gather our people immediately. Before Ethan meets them, make sure they know what to do," Zephyr said, squinting.
"At this critical moment, you still plan to oppose Ethan? That's a lose-lose situation!" Dashiell's face changed, and he was clearly disapproved of Zephyr's rashness.
He thought Zephyr wanted to drag all the branch families into a fight against Ethan to spite Brady, even if it meant mutual destruction. But the result could be Zephyr's complete ruin.
"Who said anything about opposing him?" Zephyr glared at Dashiell.
"Then what do you mean?" Dashiell suddenly had a thought.
"Fully support Ethan and help him complete his reforms quickly. Consider it our show of loyalty," Zephyr revealed his plan.
"That could work. Ethan needs the branch families to control the Wilson family. He still needs us!" Dashiell nodded after a moment of thought.
"Elmer was right. If I still want to enter Celestia Vale, my only option now is to rely on Ethan!" Zephyr squinted, clenching his fists.
Even if Zephyr was unwilling, it seemed to be his only choice. Otherwise, if Ethan didn't kill him, Brady wouldn't let him off. Now, he was no match for either of them!
"Alright, I'll go now," Dashiell said, ready to act.
"Wait." Zephyr suddenly thought of something and quickly stopped Dashiell.
