Chapter 474 Logan is Here
Elmer stared at Jessie's back, feeling totally at a loss. He thought, 'Man, I might not be able to keep tabs on Ethan.'
Meanwhile, Ethan had already strolled out of the Shadow Gang's base. Just outside the restricted area checkpoint, he spotted Logan yelling his head off. "Are you blind? I'm from the Wilson family, and you dare to stop me? I got urgent business with Ethan. If you mess this up, can you handle the fallout?" Logan, with his cocky attitude, pointed at the two Shadow Gang guards and barked.
"The Wilson family rules say non-warriors can't enter the Shadow Gang. Please don't make this hard for us. As a Wilson, you should know the rules." One of the guards looked annoyed but couldn't lay a hand on Logan. If it were anyone else, they'd have been tossed out ages ago.
But rarely did any regular Wilson family members dare to stir up trouble at the Shadow Gang.
They'd been on gate duty forever and had never seen anything like this.
"Rules? What rules? Don't give me that. Today, I'm going in, no matter what." Logan looked all high and mighty, like he was some big shot.
The guards might put up with him because of his status, but Ethan had zero patience for this nonsense.
"If he dares to step into Shadow Gang territory, kick him out. If he gets hurt or worse, that's on him." Ethan's icy voice cut through the air, leaving Logan stunned and the two guards at the gate relieved.
Ethan had shown up, making things a whole lot easier.
"Ethan, you can't do this to me. I'm your elder brother." Logan looked scared and took a couple of steps back.
"Weren't you all high and mighty just now? Go ahead, step inside, and see what happens." Ethan sneered, wondering how the Wilson family ended up with someone like him.
"I'm here to talk business with you. I swear my info is something you need. You can't treat me like this; you'll regret it," Logan hurriedly explained, seeing Ethan's unfriendly expression.
"Spit it out!" Ethan felt a bit curious and thought, 'This idiot usually opposes me, but now he seems to be on my side. What's his game?'
"Can we talk in private?" Logan glanced at the two guards and hesitated.
Ethan felt exasperated but signaled the two guards to step back inside.
"Alright, no one's around. Spill it," Ethan impatiently urged.
"Here's the deal. I know you're back to take over as family head. I was against it at first, but Brady insisted you take the position. He talked me into it after a long discussion. Shouldn't you show some gratitude?" Logan steadied himself and then, with a tone of fake generosity, seriously reminded Ethan.
Ethan stared at Logan, his face twisting into a weird expression. He thought, 'What’s gotten into this guy, acting like he’s doing me a favor by giving up the family head position?'
"So, you're saying the family head position should've been yours, and now you're handing it over to me, so I should be grateful?" Ethan asked, still unsure if he heard right.
"Exactly." Logan nodded eagerly, adding, "If Brady hadn't talked me into it all night, I wouldn't have agreed. But since you're my brother and got some skills, I reluctantly agreed."
Ethan looked at Logan's serious face and couldn't help but burst out laughing after a long pause.
"Why are you laughing? Did I say something wrong?" Logan asked, confused by Ethan's reaction.
"Did you come here just to tell me this?" Ethan shook his head, half amused, half annoyed.
"Not just that. I wanted you to know how you got the family head position so you'll treat me with respect in the future," Logan said proudly, like he had done Ethan a huge favor.
"Respect, huh? Alright, what’s the big deal you came to discuss? Can we get to the point?" Ethan didn't want to waste time arguing and cut to the chase.
"Alright, I'll spill. Zephyr and Dashiell have teamed up to take you and Brady down. Did you know that? I took a big risk to tell you." Logan lowered his voice, trying to sound all secretive.
"Is that all you got?" Ethan looked at Logan like he was the biggest idiot on the planet.
"There's more. I know their specific plans," Logan looked around nervously and whispered seriously.
"Then spill it, what are their plans?" Ethan felt a bit intrigued, thinking Logan might actually have some useful info.
"Zephyr and Dashiell plan to sit back and watch you and Brady fight, then swoop in and take the spoils," Logan whispered to Ethan.
Ethan raised an eyebrow and asked curiously, "How do you know this?"
"Of course, it's Brady. Oh no, there were rumors that you wanted to reclaim the assets and shares of the branch families. Zephyr and Dashiell have been secretly stirring up trouble, uniting several branch families to protest and embarrass you. They even plan to disrupt the family head inheritance ceremony." Logan mentioned Brady instinctively, then quickly corrected himself.
"And then?" Ethan frowned. Logan was saying stuff he already knew.
"Zephyr even urged me to persuade Beverly to secretly mess with you. I didn't agree. I went to the Cloud Group to warn Beverly. If I hadn't gone, Zephyr would have sent someone else," Logan hurriedly explained, fearing Ethan would get the wrong idea.
Ethan thought, 'I'd believe Logan if I were a fool. But from his words, it seems he regrets siding with Zephyr and is now coming to me to confess. Is he scared and planning to switch sides?'
