Chapter 281 Lyra Had A Clear Mind
Ethan nodded in sudden realization, then parked the car in front of a gift shop by the roadside.
"Why are we stopping?" Lyra asked, puzzled.
"Weren't we supposed to prepare a birthday gift?" Ethan retorted.
"You plan to buy a gift for Hubert from this little shop? Even if you gave him the whole store, he wouldn't care!" Lyra finally understood Ethan's intention and, while scrutinizing the small gift shop, reminded him with a look of exasperation.
"Your attending his birthday party is already a huge honor for him. If he dares to look down on your gift, I'll kick his ass!" Ethan explained earnestly.
Lyra opened her mouth to argue but couldn't refute. In terms of status, she was indeed more prestigious than Hubert. She had always kept a low profile at school and never flaunted her family background; otherwise, Hubert wouldn't even dare to look at her.
Lyra realized that Ethan was taking her to this birthday party with the intention of causing trouble! So, it wouldn't be surprising for Ethan to give any gift.
A few minutes later, Lyra saw Ethan return to the car with a gift box wrapped in colorful paper.
"What did you buy for Hubert?" Lyra asked curiously, looking at the small gift box.
"Something no one would expect!" Ethan replied with a mysterious smile.
"It's so light. What exactly did you get? This is being given in my name, you know. You can't keep it a secret from me!" Lyra grabbed the gift box and examined it, unable to guess what was inside.
"A very special gift and he will definitely use it. He might even use it tonight!" Ethan said seriously.
"If you don't tell me, I'll open it right now!" Lyra threatened, trying to open the gift box, but Ethan snatched it back.
"Don't open it! If you want to know, I'll tell you!" Ethan reluctantly put the 'small gift' away and then leaned over to whisper two words in Lyra's ear.
Lyra's mouth immediately widened, clearly shocked by Ethan's gift.
"How about that? Isn't this gift great? I guarantee it will be one of the most unforgettable gifts for Hubert!" Ethan said proudly.
"No, no, you can't give something like that to a man in my name!" Lyra finally reacted, trying to snatch the 'small gift' back from Ethan's pocket.
"Stop it. I told you Hubert would definitely use it. When I saw him the other day, I could tell Hubert was sick. I put a lot of thought into this gift!" Ethan earnestly stopped Lyra's hands from rummaging through his pockets.
"Still, you can't give Viagra as a birthday gift. It's too ridiculous!" Lyra's face turned red with anger. If this got out at school, she would instantly become the talk of the town!
Yes, Ethan's birthday gift for Hubert was Viagra!
"Don't worry. Hubert would be more embarrassed than you if this news got out. Even if he opens it and sees it, he will pretend he knows nothing! Unless he wants to lose face himself!" Ethan said with a mischievous smile.
"If anyone else finds out, I won't let you off. I'll tell Chloe you're bullying me!" Lyra threatened through gritted teeth.
"Take it easy. Nothing will happen. Don't you want to see Hubert's reaction when he opens the gift?" Ethan reassured her confidently.
"How do you know he has that problem?" Lyra asked softly, her face still flushed.
"Did you forget I'm a doctor?" Ethan reminded her with a smile.
Seeing that she had no more to say, Ethan started the car and continued driving towards the hotel.
"Ethan, do all men like to fall in love with every woman they meet?" Lyra suddenly asked after a long silence.
Ethan turned his head in surprise, seeing Lyra's big eyes staring at him curiously, feeling helpless.
"Why do you ask that? Do you think I'm a playboy, having Chloe and still being with Sarah?" Ethan shook his head with a bitter smile after a long pause.
"It's not just Chloe and Sarah. Isn't there also Alice? Sarah said you have another woman in Nova York who has a thing with you!" Lyra counted on her fingers, showing four white fingers to Ethan.
"Don't talk nonsense. I admit I like Chloe and Sarah, and I am with both of them, but the situation is complicated. It's an exception. I am absolutely clean with other women!" Ethan felt speechless, but even he found his explanation unreliable.
Even if he was truly innocent with Hannah and Alice, he felt guilty.
"I know. Chloe already explained your relationship to me. I don't think it's a big deal. As long as the three of you can accept each other's presence, being together isn't a bad thing. After all, happiness is your own business; why care about others' opinions?" Lyra said earnestly, making Ethan lose for words.
