Chapter 522 The Past of Celestia Vale
"The Tiger Mount secret realm you found with the Sun and Moon Beads? Yeah, turns out it's actually part of the Celestia Vale secret realm, and it's like, super important. Remember that deal I mentioned between Celestia Vale and Pantheon? Well, it wasn't really Celestia Vale who signed it. It was more like a deal between the ZF Guild and Pantheon," Raymond kept on explaining.
Ethan was trying to wrap his head around all this, but it just made him more confused. He frowned, feeling even more lost.
Raymond then started spilling the tea about the beef between Celestia Vale and the ZF Guild.
So, back in the day, the ZF Guild fell apart because of this so-called ceasefire deal. When they decided to sign it with Pantheon, most folks were on board, but a few were totally against it.
The ones who were cool with the deal had already checked out on the old ZF Guild leader and were thinking about starting their own thing.
In a rage, the old leader split off the current Tiger Mount secret realm from Celestia Vale and kept the Guild going with the last loyal disciples.
The original ZF Guild then morphed into what became known as Celestia Vale, even changing its name to cut ties with the ZF Guild.
What could've just been a messy breakup turned tragic when the old ZF Guild leader got inner demons from all the drama and got ambushed by a traitor. He lost one of the Sun and Moon Beads, the Moon Bead, and it was never found again.
Feeling guilty towards Arthur, the old leader soon died all depressed, and the ZF Guild went downhill fast.
By the time it got to Francis's generation, the ZF Guild was all about saving the world and lost a ton of disciples in the chaos. In the end, only Francis was left.
Hearing all this, Ethan finally got why the ZF Guild tanked. It was all tied to Celestia Vale.
"Basically, the ZF Guild split because of different beliefs. Later, only Francis was left in the ZF Guild," Raymond sighed, shaking his head.
Ethan, now the head honcho of the ZF Guild, wasn't too fond of Celestia Vale, and after hearing all this drama, he liked them even less.
"Because of the lost Moon Bead, there was always bad blood between the ZF Guild and Celestia Vale. They always thought Celestia Vale had the Moon Bead. That's why we've always been at odds, and why Francis was so hostile towards them," Raymond said with a bitter smile.
"If it were me, I wouldn't give you any respect either," Ethan sneered.
"Yeah, but we really didn't swipe the Moon Bead. Even though the ZF Guild split and we became Celestia Vale, we wouldn't do something that shady," Raymond explained.
"So what? Just the fact that you guys betrayed the ZF Guild is enough for Francis to not respect you," Ethan said coldly.
"Quentin found out the truth from me back then and even teamed up with Francis. He thought Celestia Vale owed the ZF Guild an explanation. This made him even more determined to bring Francis back to Celestia Vale," Raymond kept on.
"So, what happened next? Since Francis became one of the elder stewards of Celestia Vale, did he eventually go back?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, curious.
Raymond, lost in thought, continued, "Francis didn't want to go back to Celestia Vale, but Quentin kept at it, trying every trick in the book to squash the beef. He figured only with Celestia Vale's help could Francis revive the ZF Guild. But Francis was stubborn as a mule and wouldn't budge.
Quentin's nagging went on for over twenty years, right up until the nation was established, the domestic war was winding down, and the foreign invaders were about to get kicked out.
Then, the invaders made one last desperate move. Francis got ambushed and trapped in a battle, in serious trouble. At the critical moment, Quentin took a fatal hit for Francis.
Quentin used his own life to save Francis and, with his dying breath, begged Francis to return to Celestia Vale. This time, Francis hesitated.
Maybe Quentin's persistence got to him, or maybe he felt he owed Quentin. Either way, Francis agreed to join Celestia Vale. But he didn't try to revive the ZF Guild there. Instead, he kept it hidden and didn't take any new disciples until he left Celestia Vale and gave up his elder steward position. Only then did he take a few disciples, but he never mentioned the ZF Guild again."
Ethan went quiet, taking it all in.
Quentin's sacrifice and his efforts to get Francis back to Celestia Vale really hit Ethan. Whatever else, Quentin was someone to admire.
Raymond continued, "Later, Francis joined Celestia Vale on his own terms and, decades later, became one of the eight elder stewards, along with Raymond and Phoenix, who were closest to him."
"So, why did Francis leave Celestia Vale later?" Ethan knew Raymond held the keys to the past, so he wasn't about to waste this chance.
"I knew you'd ask. This has a bit to do with Matthew," Raymond paused, then sighed.
Ethan's curiosity spiked. Everything so far seemed unrelated to Matthew. He realized what Raymond was about to say next was crucial.
Raymond's next words sent Ethan deep into thought.
Turns out, Raymond and Phoenix didn't know that Francis joined Celestia Vale not just to honor Quentin's last wish but also to find out what happened to the lost Moon Bead.
Hearing this, Ethan got why Raymond said it was related to Matthew. The Moon Bead had shown up with him, as Angel had confirmed. If it weren't for him, the Moon Bead probably wouldn't have ended up with Ethan.
Thinking this over, Ethan stayed quiet and kept listening.
